    Exactly what I was looking for. I thought this was the way to price and you confirmed it. So many people keep saying they make thousands or $50 on an item. I live in CT and the clothes I find are not that high. Thank you for being honest about what you make. I am doing this as a hobby too and am happy just making a few dollars over, also.

    OMG. I don't know how many videos I've watched both on CZcams and Instagram of poshers giving advice on how to resell, and you're literally the FIRST one who has actually explained what "comps" means in this world!!! Thank you sooo much!!! LOL.
    I've been selling on the Canadian Poshmark now since Dec 2020, but only super casually. Not even part-time. I only started to make this a real side hustle I think around March of this year and I keep asking the screen: WTH is comps???
    In other industries and jobs, comps can be short for compensation, complimentary, computers, competencies, I could go on!
    This has been the most comprehensive and easy to understand how-to-resell video I've seen in 10 months!
    Subscribed!!! :)

    Number 2 is so important! I began Poshing part-time during the pandemic, listing a few items that retail for $1000-$4000 but removed (most of) them because they were not selling at even 5-10% of the retail price. I think it is because they are not "household designer" names. I've discovered I have better sales with average store brands. 🙃

    Happy New Year! That was very helpful! I am very fortunate that I have sources to get really high quality clothes ridiculously cheap. For me, with some exceptions, $5 is at the top of my price range so I have plenty of room to make deals. At the same time, my goal is to eventually (as soon as I can) make this into a significant part of my income but I know that will take some time and being greedy is self defeating. So, in general, when you "make offers" and "accept offers" what is a reasonable percentage? Should I be offended if someone asks for 30% off, or is that a going rate? If I offer someone 10% off, is that a joke, or a reasonable discount? I don't want to sell myself short but I definitely want to sell!

    • @HannahAlonzo
      @HannahAlonzo  Před 3 lety +1

      That’s a great question! In my personal opinion, 20-25% discount is reasonable. But again, this completely depends on what you price your items at to begin with. In my experience, I’ve never had someone accept an OTL for 10%. I find the most success with 25% off + discounted shipping. But that came with a lot of trial and error on my part, figuring out what people are willing to pay for the types of items I sell in my closet! It’s tricky, I wish I had a more cut-and-dry answer!

    • @HannahAlonzo
      @HannahAlonzo  Před 3 lety +1

      My biggest tip is to give yourself a few months to grow and learn! Selling on Poshmark (finding the right things to sell, specifically) is quite a steep learning curve that takes some time. And it can also take some time to build up a closet large enough to be making daily sales. For some reference, I am very very part time and I usually have between 120-140 active listings and I make one sale a day on average. Of course, I’ve never dedicated full-time effort into this and I’m sure you’ll be able to scale and grow a lot faster than I have been, but I’d say be prepared for some time to grow in the beginning where you won’t necessarily be making a huge profit. I wish you the best of luck!
