      @Infiniti25 Před 3 lety

      Fine without it, until all of those caps fail.
      Then you really should put a few back on the board. I think the schematic shows about 5-7 in parallel

  • @saramara69
    @saramara69 Před 2 lety

    I m grateful to you bro...it wasn't the same capacitor to me but the one closely to the battery connector. Two issues i had: when i tried to turn it on without the battery it turned on for a while then it shut off and again off and on...probably my oem charger hasn't enough power to start the laptop. When i connected the battery everything fine. What i wonder is why you didn't replaced the faulty capacitor at least with a used one from a useless motherboard. Personally i found two of 10u (micro) and pur them in parallel (22 shows your schematic), just to reduce the very small possibility that something goes wrong in case that this additional capacitance is necessary. Anyway, thanks a lot!

    I turn on the laptop, and the power-led lights up for 20sek, then goes off. No spinning fan. Same problem with or without power cord plugged in.
    a can hear a nozzling high-frekvenzy sound when the power is on.. Can in be a bad cap? And can i remove it with a nprmal soldering iron? I dont have the heat gun like u..

    I have a Dell Latitude E7240 which powers on but no display and no hdmi output, when I plug the charger in the system boots up without display:
    - Power button led comes on
    - Hard drive led flashes once very quickly
    - Battery led comes on for one second
    - After 4 seconds the power button led goes off
    - After another 4 seconds the power button led comes back on and stays on, the hard drive led flashes once very quickly
    The green leds on the actual msata SSD light up
    If I leave the system in this state then the cpu and heatsinks get hot and eventually the fans will spin (but still no display)
    Pressing the power button once will turn off the system (cpu will cool down, msata leds will turn off)
    I’ve tried the following:
    - Performed hard reset / static discharge, disconnected and checked cmos battery (3v on multimeter)
    - Replaced RAM, msata, screen with known working
    - Tried booting while holding down ESC, D, FN keys
    - Tried HDMI output (no output)
    - same behaviour with battery or charger cable
    I’d really, really appreciate any other suggestions / tips, Thanks in advance

      If you're having trouble removing a component, try applying new leaded solder to the pins with your soldering iron, so it all melts in. This will lower the melting point of the joint, so it should be easier to heat as a whole with the hot air.

      Google the schematic and find where your 19v, 5v and 3.3v are and if they are present.
      Also always inspect the ports, especially the USB ports for damage to the plastic tab resulting in bent pins which could be shorted to the ground shield or worse to each other.

    Isn't there a way to test capacitors in circuit? Maybe inject some Amps as well?

    • @Adamant_IT
      @Adamant_IT  Před 4 lety +4

      It depends on the circuit, but since capacitors are often found in multiples, you can't really test them in-circuit because you'll be reading all of them at the same time. Injection definitely would've helped me here, but I hadn't learnt it at this point.

      I get a low frequency hum or buzz for 3 seconds.
      Removing the charger cuts power instantly.
      Looking at the battery information in the BIOS shows it has 72% charge and in Windows it pretends to be charging, but leaving it “charging” for a week it doesn’t change charge level. This was with a 90w charger.
