He has a brilliant voice! He sings the best version of Hallelujah I've ever heard. His voice is so smooth - so natural! Reminds me of Josh Groban - brings honesty and emotion to his singing. He makes it seem so easy.

In 2004 he auditioned for the Dutch Idols, and this is what he was wearing that day.
(He jokes: I bought the shirt, one out of four hanging in that shop, and the other three are still hanging there.)
Unfortunately he didn't go through to the finals (but shortly after that he became a famous Dutch singer) Now he wants to do it again, wearing the same shirt and singing the same song.
Deze man laat echt zien dat Nederland echt talent heeft... Billie Joel houdt het iets strakker, Nick zingt het meer legato, hij houdt de tonen iets meer aan. Dit geeft het nummer een schitterende gedragen lading. Heel veel gevoel... Prachtig!!!!

I just found nick & simon on my fb page these 2 guys r fantastic they sing so well they r dutch and dutchmen mmmm so loved for them to come to Western Australia but dont think they ever will i might have to go over there to see them in concert even if they sing in dutch i dont care there songs are so good might not no what they say in a lot of there songs but the music sounds so good tho and i am so in love with Nick

Nick was born and grew up in a place, called Volendam, a Dutch fishermen's village by the former Zuyderzee.
The remarkable thing with former fishermen's villages is that they ''produce'' singer after singer, choir afters choir, all of them giften with really fantastic voices...
Maybe inhaling a lot of fresh sea air and eating loads of fish had a stimulating effect on the ''singing genes'' :-)
All these villages have had an impressive singing tradition...
