Hi Andy,my whole mind set is from 1965 when I left the UK,and it’s hard to wrap my head around how many sweet,and sour type foods are now consumed there.When I came here I worked as a nanny,and the family always took me with them when they went to a Chinese restaurant,they were always Cantonese in those days,and sweet,and sour was popular then big chunks of green peppers,and pineapple chunks,in a not very sweet sauce,which wasn’t red.Then in the ‘70 s lots of Chinese restaurants opened by people from other provinces,and it completely changed the Chinese dining scene,even the local takeouts added dishes from these other parts of China,and sweet,and sour went out of fashion.I loved shrimp in lobster sauce,which was really a sauce made out of minced pork,and egg white,in I think a chicken broth,and that is also out of fashion.I wonder what the Chinese restaurants will be selling 25 years from now.
That’s very interesting, sweet & sour is a very big thing here in the UK, several years ago I went to china town in London and ate at a proper Chinese restaurant, full of Chinese people not one English person in that place apart from me and the wife, no menu or the run of the mill dishes we are used to in our normal Chinese takeaway, waiters and waitresses were coming round with trolleys and you just picked from the trolley, no one could speak English,so really it was pot luck, the taste of that food was completely different too what we are used to in the normal takeaway 👍🏻
@@fatandy You had Dim Sum at the Chinese in London,we have lots of those places here,I like them,but eating a lot of small dishes is a favorite of mine.I went to a Uyghur restaurant ,they are the Muslim minority that live in North West China,they are genetically a Turkish people,and the food was a mix,they had kababs,and noodle dishes which had a Chinese taste,and they had Samsa,which was a baked lamb filled round pastry that tasted very much like a Samosa,most of their dishes were lamb based.I had lamb kidney kababs delicious, and something called Pearl noddles,which was fat noddles cut into very short pieces,and the meat and vegetables were cut the same,I ended up using a spoon to eat with as it would have taken all night to eat with chopsticks,and they had no knives,and forks.I think it’s usually only Chinese who eat there.

£2 on multi buy, mate..bargain. Had a look and it's 28% chicken which is probably more than your average takeaway, and ours wants £7•20😲🤯!. So that's three of these with a pack of ping in the micro egg fried rice each. No brainer, fella☝️
