We have made 3 musketeers bars for years. The inside mix we use is marshmallow fluff, cocoa powder and malted milk powder. All available at most grocery stores. The outside is the almond bark or candy coating chips. My neighborhood kids always loved them for the holidays.
@emmymade wish tags would work on youtube... cuz she needs to see this comment and try it this way! Sounds amazing
#marshmallowfluff, #cocoapowder, #maltedmilkpowder, @emmymade
That sounds much more like chocolate nougat.
That sounds awesome!! We used to make the easy fudge recipe on the back of the fluff container all the time when I was little. I remember it being pretty quick n soooo good!!
Thanks for this variation. 3 Musketeers are my favorite candy bar. I also think I am the only American who absolutely detests Cool Whip. Definitely going to try this now.
My granny used to make those back in the 60s. Now, she DID add a layer of Marshmallow Fluff, a layer of caramel, and some fresh roasted crushed peanuts to her's before enrobing it in almond bark. She was copying Goo-Goo Clusters, one of the South's oldest and most iconic confections right up there with Turtles, both made in the Chocolate Capital of the South, Chattanooga Tennessee.
Turtles are the best ever. My favorite
Goo Goo Clusters are now made by the Standard Candy Company in Nashville. One of my aunts worked there but no free Goo Goos for us kids :( Chattanooga has Moon Pies.
That sounds more like a snickers bar
@@hardcorecopper4120Yeah, With the fresh roasted peanuts 🥜
I remember going to the Grand Ole Opry as a kid and they would “advertise” the GooGoo cluster there! That’s where I had my first GooGoo cluster!
I gotta say I like the way Emmy describes flavor and textures in food. I generally can imagine exactly what it tastes like based on her descriptions!
My cat is obsessed with the microwave (idk?) And when your microwave went off she became fully invested in this video and watched the rest with me ❤
Mine watches me whenever I am cooking in the kitchen and I swear that is her absolute favorite activity. We do occasionally make stuff for her in the kitchen but not enough to explain her unyielding interest in everything we do. We're one of those families that tries to feed our animals fresh made food if possible. They often eat better than we do actually.
One of my cats used to like watching everything I did in the kitchen -- perched on my back 😄😄
My dog and cat would both watch me intently while I would cook every night. The dog, I can understand since she would fetch fallen morsels, but the kitty... I guess she was supervising lol.
I used to have a cat obsessed with my fax machine and would jam it up trying to stick her head in it while printing… so I left my office door closed most the time!
@@shineonbright1062that's hysterical!!! Our oven where I used to live was one of those ovens that had the window on the front so u could see inside. Our cat used to sit there for hours n just stare into it!! It creeped us out😂
I love what you did here, but as a former Godiva worker, I'm not surprised your result was not very similar to the original. Real nougat is made of boiled sugar syrup and egg whites, mostly. The sugar is boiled to a hard-ball consistency. Of Course cool whip and chocolate whipped together won't have the same flavor and consistency; it's basically whipped ganache. However, I love the idea, it's a great way for people to dabble into chocolatiering.
When it made is it like a souffle? From the ingredients list it calls for sugar, corn syrup, cocoa powder, palm oil, salt and egg whites plus artifical flavor.
They must whip the sugar syrup and egg whites really fast to prevent cooking the egg whites or do they let the sugar cool before this process.
I kinda wonder if they mix the cocoa powder, salt, oil in after the initial whip?
Godiva makes one of my favorites ice creams, the chocolate raspberry.
Next time you make those 3 Musketeers bars try adding some malt powder. I think that would make them taste exactly like the original one. ❤
Great idea 👍
Perfect idea.
Saving this note, thank you!
Yes! The flavor is not exactly chocolate.
And marshmallows for the chewiness
The defining flavor of a 3 musketeers bar is MALT.
So true! I was wondering if a bit of ovaltine or other malt powder mixed into the filling would bring it closer to the flavour profile of the original
@@jennifergraham3752 Exactly.. I was thinking Carnation malted milk powder.
Milo?
There's no malt in three musketeers bars (see the ingredients). It's not really a malt flavor. Try it against Whoppers malt balls, which do contain malt.
@@teri2466 The second ingredient of the nougat is corn syrup, which contains maltose AKA malt sugar. To me it tastes of malt. True it's not as pronounced as Whoppers, but it's there. Malt is a common ingredient in nougats from the Milky Way bar to Russel Stover candies.
Cool whip originally was marketed as dairy free, but as of 2018 cool whip contains 3 forms of dairy.
Reddi Whip wipes anyways
Yes I was gonna say this. I think she should read the ingredients before stating something is non dairy.
@@Yeahthatshowifeelppl should really read ingredients before they consume them
@@Yeahthatshowifeel Considering that ingredients can change at any time if someone is concerned they should read the ingredients each time they purchase. Adults need to take responsibility for themselves.
Plenty of soy as well.
10:20 A little trick I once saw my grandma do when she was making a cake (She did this parchment paper design like you did) was that rather than trying to directly lift something out of the pan, she took the longer layers and pulled them down over the pan edges, utilizing physics not unlike how a pulley works.
You only really have to do it to release it, then you can lift it out normally. :)
"Burnt chocolate does not taste good"
Voice of experience??
Emmy, you are a bright spot ❤
These turned out to look fantastic. I'm not a candy maker, but I've made versions of these for my son's friend in school. The poor kid was allergic to just about everything. I used vanilla almond bark and sun butter for the filling. A tip for cutting the nougat, keep a glass of warm water next to you. Dip your knife and dry before cutting, a warm blade cuts smoother and helps keep those clean edges. Lol. These looked really good. I'm a huge fan of musketeers. ❤❤❤😊
I think meringue and a bit of malt powder mixed with the chocolate would have been closer to the original, but this is a super simple recipe.
I thought the same thing but then, given how simple the recipe is, some marshmallow cream added to it would give it some chew.
And less wierd stuff in it
3 musketeers are a new-ish discovery for me - as in I never realized how much I love them until recently!!!
They're at the bottom of my list of chocolate bars. Least favorite
@@tv-21 not sure why you felt it necessary to tell me that. seems like pointless negativity on my positive comment. just trying to bring me down..? make your own comment.
@@tv-21 nobody cares
@tv-21 I used to think the same but now I like how fudgey the center is sometimes
If you can find them, try U-NO bars. They are similar to 3 Musketeers, but with a layer of finely ground almonds. They are a bit more "rich" tasting, and have a slightly firmer texture.
(They also come in a mint version, but the original is the one that compares to 3 Musketeers.)
When I was a kid back in the early 70’s, Three Musketeers came not as one bar, but as three bite sized pieces per package, hence the name. It made it very shareable with friends and siblings. Haven’t had one in ages. Good memories tho.
The name was because of the three original flavors in one candy bar. After a while people were asking for an all chocolate version and it outsold the original 4 to 1. After some supply chain issues the neopolitan version was dropped.
😮. Never saw that one.
@@jeanhamrick1240 It was the 3 flavors in one bar from 1932-1945. After that it was chocolate only with some exceptions more recently.
@@petersoos498 It was also nearly a square bar, originally, like the minis but twice the dimensions.
@@robertsteele474 That's neat. Didn't know that.
Can’t believe I caught an EmmyMade video less than 30 minutes after upload!!!! Let’s watch!!!!
50 mins for me
What I think is sad is we no longer get the true “3” musketeers originally it was three bars a chocolate a vanilla and a strawberry nugget covered in chocolate
😮 Oh cool. I had no idea. Thanks for sharing that.
Huh, this makes sense. Now I wish for these too.
Interesting but sadly not surprising these days. Anyways, so it should be be called '1 musketeer' then?
How long ago was that? I remember getting Three Musketeers as a child in the 60's and it was only this one flavor. But, maybe it changed in different areas?
So many chocolate bars I ate as a kid are no longer around. I wasn't much into sweet things but I loved Virginia chocolate bars (chocolate and peanuts) and Treasure chocolate bars that had I believe 6 or 8 different fillings in each piece.
3 musketeers was my favorite chocolate candy bar when I was a kid. I haven't had one in ages
when you go camping and want a nice treat while your family is having smores make a bandana boat it's bananas in its peel cut open like a boat and fill it with marshmallows and chocolate chips then wrap them up with aluminum foil and put over the fire for 5 to 10 mins until everything is warm and then enjoying with a spoon, best camping treat imo
I remember those!!
Girl Scouts?!
add peanut butter too thats what we always did!
Sounds intriguing! I've never heard of that before. I'll try that when I go camping this summer in Northern Ontario 🇨🇦
I remember those in Girl Guides camp...
I also add chopped pecans and caramel chips into mine for extra decadence! But we use marshmallow fluff or vegan marshmallows depending on which we can find (vegan marshmallows are usually really expensive) because my daughter, her husband, and their best friends are all either vegetarian or pescaterian.
Cool whip does have dairy!! At least the one I find at my local store
There is a dairy free version.
Cool Whip brand.
It is coconut oil based, I think
Emmy isn't usually wrong. She does oodles of research❤
The FDA allows products to be labeled as dairy-free if they don't contain lactose. Dairy Free Cool Whip contains caseine, which can trigger allergies and is not vegan.
So she's not technically wrong, as there is a "dairy free" Cool Whip that's safe for the lactose intolerant, but it does contain milk derivatives.
It says non dairy right on the label. I think the extra creamy might have dairy, though.
Came here to say this, too.
Hands up if you think Emmy should make marshmallows 🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️
I always eat the chocolate off the outside, then eat the nugget. So satisfying! 😅
The nougat nugget!
What are you, some kind of a nut?
They don't last that long with me. I'd be surprised if you're not making a mess.
I like to freeze them, pick the chocolate off, and then eat the nougat.
Ha i do that with double deckers
I've totally done that too 😄
Homemade marshmallows are so much better than store bought plus you can flavor them any flavor you want. Plus they don’t have that weird like store bought. As a chocolatier I used homemade all the time and sold a lot of it. Once people tasted it, they loved it.
This needs more likes, I want Emmy to make marshmallows!
With real marshmallow even!
I just commented the same! They are amazing! NOTHING Like their store bought counterpart! 👍
REAL MARSHMALLOW with Mallow ❤❤❤ not corn syrup, whipped
I love making homemade marshmallows. They’re not hard to make, just messy. All that powdered sugar/cornstarch coating coats the entire kitchen! But SO worth it.
OMG. Love 3 Musketeers! Such an underrated candy.
There's something so mesmerizing about melted chocolate being stirred around.
I have been watching her for years, her videos are such high quality and her personality is sunny. Thanks for bringing joy to me for all these years it means a lot. Food and great personality has to go hand in hand with happiness? 2:52
I would pick yours over the original. They look so good!
Those are one of my most favorite candy bars ever since I was a tiny. I actually remember my first time trying one it was at the bowling alley where my dad purposed to my mom during a horrible snow storm. I was 3 at the time and my ma got one from the food area and and I remember I just fell in love right there with it plus I was a big fan of the stories of the Three Musketeers so any time she'd have one I'd call out all for one and one for all so she'd give me some. I thought I'd just share that cute little jem from my childhood it was very special to me because we didn't get sweets often.
So easy! Definitely trying these! We used to have Malted Milk bars in Canada, not sure if they're still here. I love a chewy nougaty bar, can't wait to make these this weekend!! 😊
This is the recipe I've needed in my life. One of my favorite bars
Well, I'm definitely more tempted to give this recipe a try than the possum one!
😳 missed that one... need to go back and watch.... can hardly wait 🤣
😂 same here, and I dislike 3 Musketeers.
Homemade marshmallows are incredible!!! Nothing like factory made! I’ve made mocha, coffee, rum, and fireball whiskey flavors. SO GOOD!!!!
Love your complete instrumental video. Comparing different textures and tastes. Very informative. Showing before and after videos you don't get enough of them. Love it ❤️
Absolutely adore that Swiss chard t shirt Emmy!!!
Common Ground is a great fair!
So glad you did this.😊 I've seen the recipe and wondered if they were like the original. 😊
These look so cool. Thankyou for your content emmy. You make my days better❤
Omg! I can make this for my kiddo that can't have dairy I'm so excited 😆
Coolwhip may have dairy now. Check ingredients.
So Delicious makes non dairy cool whip!
@@MushroomMagpie ohh it does lol we don't use it
@@positivepossum13 yes we get that stuff it's sooooo good!
Because I developed a nut and peanut allergy when I became an adult it made it to where I can't eat a huge chunk of candy bars. I also have a gluten sensitivity so things like Twix are a no go as well. When I discovered that 3 Musketeers were actually something I could eat without hives and stomach pain I was thrilled, and I really developed a liking to them. Nougat is amazing. I just wish that Milky Way would bring back their french vanilla bar with vanilla nougat.
But I really think you should try to make marshmallows, Emmy! I made them once and homemade gourmet marshmallows are very different to the store bought ones and you can make them in so many flavors.
Fantastic work and results there, Emmy! I wonder how it would turn out if the chocolate filling was mixed with eg Marshmallow Fluff (?). 🤔 Heck, as long as there are sugar and chocolate together, my taste buds and sweet tooth would be there! ❤ 🍫
This was my favorite candy bar as a kid. If I had only known it was so easy to make. Thanks Emmy!
I would like to say, how much I appreciate your demonstrations, techniques & your personality is great. My husband can’t wait for me to make them. Thank you from SWFL, USA…
00:55 "I am definitely a Snickers girl bar"?? LOL!! ❤😉👍 I'm wondering if it would become closer to the flavour of the original's chewy center if you took some of those chocolate covered malted milk balls and crushed them into the chocolate/Cool-Whip mixture first... waddaya think? Maybe even with a teensy dash of instant coffee... hmmm... okay, now I'm hungry! LOL
Yumm
Stop! Just stop!
That would be more interesting, but not more similar to the original. You need some cooked sugar to get that chewy bounce.
@@O2life Thanks! 🙂
Woah this is the earliest I’ve been!! 🤭
Same
Great video 😊. Definitely will try the recipe.
Im not a smores or marshmallow fan either
..BUT when I was in pastry school we made homemade and it changed me! Give it a try
Try an easy home-made marshmallows recipe ,with a fruit puree base, videos all over you tube etc..and internet from other countries, they look yummy and keep well for 5-7 days believe in an airtight container on the counter( please double check that)… or in the fridge..
…I saw a tutorial where they piped the beautiful colors (caused by the fruit flavors) or even food coloring into beautiful roses and other piped flowers, also added some small green leaves to the individual blossoms, packed them in a box for a wonderful presentation for a Mother’s Day present a week or so ago..
Poinsettias or candy cane shaped would be sweet for Christmas I think!❤
Thank you so much for your content, Emmy. My spouse and I watch your content almost every night as we're winding down for bed. Your videos bring us a lot of comfort and another thing to bond over!! Have you given any thought to doing a series on regional eats across the states? There's even a wikipedia article for it. Though it's missing North Dakota (shocker). If I could, I'd fill that blank space with Knoephla soup.
Total aside, but I want a Swiss chard shirt too! Love the design and it totally fits your vibe, Emmy!
I love Emmy's Swiss chard shirt too! I have a green bean shirt that my daughter gave me last Thanksgiving - she got us all shirts with our favorite part of Thanksgiving dinner complete with nutritional info.
Her shirt is from The Common Ground Fair which takes place every Sept on the 3rd weekend after Labor Day in Unity Maine. It’s an amazing awesome experience! 😊
Do you think this might work if I used sugar free cool whip and sugar free chocolate?
I love all the content you create!
I love how accessible you make recipes! Special tools not necessary 💪🏻
I would push plain potato chips in2 a 3 musketeer b4 eating it when I was young. Salty sweet has always been my thing.
I have that same shirt! I love the Common Ground Fair :)
No matter the negative comments regarding the process or contents of product content from viewers, I like your voice & the way you describe your process. Nice job❣️keep up the good work & positive attitude 😉
Oh wow! They are my #1! Excited to learn how to make
Excellent job Emmy
Try putting the small Halloween size in the freezer. They are really good that way.
I am SOOO making these! Thanks for this recipe!
Looks interesting. I like my 3 musketeers frozen better than room temp. But willing to try making . Thank you for sharing, and yes…I’d like to see a video of homemade marshmallow please.

I'm such a weirdo.... I use to love 3 musketeers, except, I would nibble the chocolate off from around the outside of the bar, then throw that away and just eat the middle 😂😂😂
3 musketeers are my favorite candy bar brilliant idea 😊
I love three musketeers thank you for making this video!!!❤❤
I always thought the original candy bars were way too sweet for my liking. That's why I always chose "ZERO" chocolate bars due to their bittersweet chocolate taste.
There's way too much fructose in candies today and by the mid 40s people are getting diabetes already due to the excess glucose in the bloodstream.
It is nice to see that one can actually make their own chocolate bars are home though! At least this way one can control the sugar and the ingredients in the candy bars!
Great video!
Sugar doesn't cause type 2 diabetes. It's caused by being overweight and genetic propensity. In fact, studies show that eating a lot of red meat dramatically increases your risk of type 2 diabetes. But "glucose in your bloodstream" does not cause diabetes. The American Diabetes Association has a FAQ about it because so many people don't understand that sugar does not cause diabetes.
Diabetes is an autoimmune disorder not something caused by eating sugar. You don’t like them nifty, don’t eat them. Dont spread nonsense about health in the interim. ALL forms of diabetes are autoimmune in nature. Either spontaneous like insulin dependent and childhood diabetes or endocrine like insulin resistance, type 2 and obesity related diabetes.
@@mygirldarbyExactly. Plus, our bodies still need a little sugar. Like I said, Moderation.

I wish Emmy replies to any questions regarding the recipes she features. I get not responding to just random statements but sometimes viewers ask questions about the method or results, they were never responded to.... 😭
If she responded to every question, she would have little time for anything else.

Hi ! I really like watching your videos. I always learn something new. I love 3 Musketeers. I bought one yesterday. Lol. I also a Snickers. I am going to try to make these for my family. Thank you for the recipe. Have a great week.
I wonder what would happen if you melted some marshmallows in with the chocolate/cool whip mix. It may add the chew it's missing. Thanks for sharing this recipe!
Thank You ❤ God bless you ❤
A couple of observations: 1. This reminds me of some chemistry channels where you mix this with that and you get something unexpected. 2. If I was mixing it I would probably end up with about 1/2 of it left after I had finished taste-testing it with a spoon.
A fun project. Thanks. Cheers :-)
So cool!! I love these and will definitely try them sometime.
So Cool....it's Hot! So Hot ... It's Cool!

Emmy, I had to giggle when you said it wasn't exactly your favorite candy bar lol. I remember Halloween as a kiddo, I used to rank and eat my candy best to worst (exact opposite of what I do now, saving the best for last haha) and there would always be Milky Ways and 3 Musketeers hanging out int he bottom of my pillow case that I used for a candy bag, along with Dum Dums and licorice haha. Your bars came out BEAUTIFULLY! Very fun one!
