For the *Astro 8r*, power it off. Once off, press the power and the up and down volume buttons all at the same time. Once the logo appears, release the power button only while still holding the up and down volume buttons. After a few seconds the recovery menu will appear then release the volume buttons. Use the up or down volume buttons to select factory reset, then use the power button to select (if you look in the top left hand corner, it will have the instructions in yellow letters). Once you’ve selected factory reset, it will ask if you are sure because it cannot be undone, use one of the volume keys to move it to factory reset to confirm and then press the power button. Once it’s finished it will return to the *Android Recovery* menu. Look at the bottom left of the screen and make for certain that the last line says, *Data wipe complete*. It should already be highlighted on *Reboot system now*, if not use one of the volume buttons to it, then press the power button. It will go black for a couple seconds then back to the logo screen. After a long pause on the logo screen, it will say *Hi There*. It means you’ve successfully factory reset and is ready for setup. I hope this helps someone, it took quite a while watching a few videos and combing through the comments for clues before I figured it out.

This doesn't work for the Nitro 8. As soon as you selct either mode, Recovery/Fast/Normal, and select ok, the tablet will shot off and You're stuck again😢

Mine turns off wen I press volume down and I selected recovery mode
Nothing will work .I have a Maxwest astro 8 it will not factory reset my brother forgot his pin. And so he gave it to me but I can't get it to bypass the lock screen. Help power + vol up doesn't work or vol + down doesn't work wcan I do
thanks, worked perfectly after I forgot the pin to an old tablet ... wouldn't have been able to log in if my email wasn't previously on it, though .

i have the astro 8r, ive tried doing what youve said to do even though its not the same model, i figured to hard reset, its pretty much all the same ? power and volume +... for me, it just starts up again.

ADDED NOTE: Press the volume key both up n down at same time not just up volume and power. I see a lot of people having it nopt do anything with just holding power and volume up. HOLD THE VOLUME KEY UP N DOWN AT SAME TIME WHEN U POWER IT BACK UP. this vicdeo did not work for my Astro as well as others

My R8 has a touchscreen freaking the f out or not work at all and when it does work only the bottom half of the screen responds to touch what a pos tablet 😂

On which step ? The first one you use the volume up key, on the second steps you use the power key. I hope this helps.

If it was send from foreign country , it's a piece of junk . When you call Maxwest support , always connect to people who hardly speak English or don't comprehend at all like the Philippines. The reality is that our country in the USA is giving the majority of the jobs to a few ethnic groups in the USA or foreign countries who intentionally send Americans a bad device and customer support wastes too much time while they don't know anything so collect money from our government , defrauding the USA government . All the American free government benefits such as free government phones go to the pocket of foreigners who are answering the phone. Literally there are the biggest gangs in LA, CA who are stealing FREE GOVERNMENT BENEFITS .
