- In this video, we take a detailed look at the LEGO Icons Retro Radio (set 10334). A working LEGO radio!? This set features a sound brick, a working tuning knob, am/fm switch, an antenna, a handle, the ability to enclose your phone, and much more. What a strange set... but is it ever cool!

That’s one of the most random and unique Lego sets I’ve ever seen 😂
Who would have thought that a $30 fully functioning radio would sell for $100 as a nonfunctional toy version 50 years later...
The sound brick is the most expensive part that Lego makes.
For the same money i can buy a real retro radio. Not my thing. Hard pass.
That's inflation for you
That’s not the point.
@@idonjohnson6999 thank you for enlightening me. quite helpful! /s
Would be a lot more appealing if they included a functional radio unit instead of a sound brick. Sure it might cost more but I think a Lego set that you could actually tune in to local radio stations would appeal to more people.
I have a radio 📻 similar to the Lego one from 1970 and it still works today. It’s a Westinghouse. I’m 69 years old
And still enjoying Lego? That’s great
You should put your Bluetooth speaker just behind it on your shelf. It will feel likes it’s working then without losing access to your phone :)
This is a generational set. I have seen several people who are in the younger generations think this is a dumb set, but then I have seen many people who are in older generations think it's cook. It's nostalgic for them. I personally had a black cassette player look very similar to this in the 80's so I LOVE this. I'll be putting mine on a shelf next to my typewriter.
love it...would have been perfect if it actually had a radio feature :)
I love the radio, but it gives me 1950's vibes rather than 1970's because of the light aqua bricks. Awesome set nevertheless though.
I wish it was more like the colors of the Atari :)
Before seeing the review: meh don’t need it.
After seeing this review: okay. I NEED IT!
Looks like a fun build 😮
I would have preferred an 80s style Panasonic ‘Boom Box’ of ‘Ghetto Blaster’ as they used to call them
It would be cool to find a small enough blue tooth speaker to put inside rather than your phone.
Are you sure this is 1970’s? The look and feel and even the audio all feels like the 1950’s to me…maybe early 60’s
I wish Lego had added a battery compartment at the back with batteries made from lego to pop in and out.
I would definitely buy that if i could afford it. Bills come first 😢. Love your channel & the family. On a side note tho: being how you have the new studio & space, after building & reviewing a set end the video with placing the item in display rooms. While watching this vid i'm thinking " he's gonna walk down & put on the shelf with piano/guitar i bet". So sad you didn't, maybe next time. Keep up the GREAT work you are doing.
I think it is better than a piano, typewriter or camera.
The LEGO radio could be something I would love to get and listen to some music while I’m working on my tasks.
This set is precious!
this set is crazy. the resemblance is crazy
it will fit well in your ideas/icons music shelf
That's so unexpected, and quirky, would be cute in a Lego room playing music and surprising people where the music is coming from.
Looks like it should be a $70 radio lol.
The reason is because of the sound brick
I do believe that we, or at least I, very much needed a Lego Retro Radio for my house. I think this is very cool and can’t wait to pick one up. I like how you can find positives in a set even if it isn’t your favorite thing. Thanks for your review!
Do you want a radio?. its the same as any other Lego set you have that you display, you have recently filled all your shelves with lego, why is the radio any different, its a display piece like much of your collection
So true! 😂
Totally.
Lego now do an 80’s Boombox.
I LOVE THIS! It goes along with all the other Reto Tech that they are doing like the Polaroid camera, the vintage file camera and now the radio. Now we need a cassette player and CD player.
I was going to get this set but I was really disappointed that the color is so similar to the typewriter 😢😅
This is such a sick set! Love it!
A Bricksie logo rug in the Star Wars room would be awesome!
Does this mean you’re off your suspension? I am seeing more reviews again!!
Totally unique, and I loved that you took the back off and showed us that odd tuning piece. Already added it to my Lego wish list. I wonder if an older MP3 player would work in there? The only problem is that some of the older ones don't have Bluetooth.
Lego has used that giant worm gear thing to move the elevator up and down on the current Friends Hospital set
That worm piece is used in the big Friends house of last year as an elevator piece.
How many times did he say, “I don’t know if I need this?” Newsflash, you never need any LEGO set. Just say you don’t like it. 😂
100%. He has the typewriter…I’m pretty certain he didn’t ‘need’ that either.
I got paper bags in my last Lego set - it was the Planet Earth and Moon orbiting the Sun
Its cool looking and love the functions on it.
This set looks great! Lego have been on a roll this past week or so with some great set reveals
Cool looking set - My family had one of these same types of Radios in the early 70's when I was really young 👍
Pretty cool set
The sound brick makes it better, the phone integration is great
It reminds me a lot of the typewriter. Kind of random but executed in a really cool way
wow, much better than I expected
Back in the 1970s I had a transistor radio just like this. Even the colours are exactly right. Incredible!😀😃
I love this, 100% will buy.
I love it. I think I want this more than that Lego Cat coming next month. Thanks for the review.
Random, but I kinda like it. Rather than your phone, maybe put a small bluetooth speaker in there? Sound quality will probably be better, and you won't accidentally smash it when the phone rings...
I was hoping that it had a BT speaker inside instead of just a compartment for hiding your phone.
Love the radio can’t wait to pick it up! 📻
I love it , my dads radio was like this & it had a fake wood case lol
I need that. Yes, we really need a Radio! Finally! Paper bags!
Was not sure of the radio. Have it admit it looks pretty cool. Great review
Well with the Typewriter, Polaroid Camera, Film Camera and the Atari we are getting a lot of Retro sets that could make a cute shelf display
You probably can't wait to reveal and review the Barad-Dur Tower 10333.
Nice must buy
Apart from that, seems like 2024 is more focused on small-medium sized sets, no large sets as of yet.
Large sets as in the box size like the loop coaster, rivendell, museum (I dont count museum as it was released in dec 2023)
The old-fashioned audio snippets are actually pretty cool. I wasn't sold at first but I'm starting to see the appeal of this set.
An unusual set to say the least. First the vintage type writer, then this. Are they going to come out with a sewing machine next? Granted they also had that tiny walkman set too. Nice to see the paper bags finally being implemented though. Congrats on your Oilers sneaking out that OT win last night.
It plays Everything is awesome
That vintage radio 📻 is pretty neat 👌🏻.
Maybe easily moddable with real electronic so you have a fully functional Lego radio 🤩
I’m definitely buying this Lego set
I actually really like this set. Do you think you could fit an echo dot in there? I would love to put my echo in there.
Wow looks quite clever with sound brick fm radio awseome review
I will be building one for my Lego room & tucking my speaker behind it!
Really cool set for display 😊
Just a idea I got for your new studio / display rooms. Buy a similar table as the one the Eiffel tower stands on and put the lego Colosseum on it. I think it would look super cool having them both on each side of the door especially because them both are big landmarks. Anyway I think you did an amazing job with all the design choices at the new place. 😃
I like it! Awesome Video Review👍👍💪
Never thought I would need a lego radio before lol
Oh. My. Goodness 😮it's so awesome. With the sound brick. Now that's tottaly. Rad ..
I thought about putting a bt speaker inside but honestly I'd use it to hide my phone while studying, maybe play some noise...lord knows if i see my phone light up I'm ditching everything😅
also it'll be useful on a desk or nightstand for white noise, a podcast, or listing to something when sound quality doesn't need to be high end to enjoy.
It is a really random set, but I’m sure it will find its own niche of people that will enjoy it!
aqua blue is such a beautiful color, though ..
People over in Europe had the paper bags for a while.
The 2 LBG plates not fully aligned triggered me, and was wondering when is he going to notice it.
I'm glad he make things right at the end of the video.
This is the coolest lego set
That's kinda cool; I'll have to remind myself to get that....
La vidéo d'hier est arrivé en retard et celle là arrive en avance 😂😂
(Tu t'es bien rattrapé Jordan 😂)
It like 3 in 1 camera. Maybe lego going retro item line
This looks great! Why is there no sound brick in the new Mandrake?
Question about the paper bags: is it real paper (that would disintegrate in water) or "plastified" paper (water resistant) ? I just had my latest Lego from Amazon delivered in a thick paper bag instead of the usual cardboard box, so of course I got a crushed Lego box, that also got pierced. I am happy it was not paper bags for this set.
I would argue we don’t *need* any Lego set hahaha but I get what you mean
Completely random yet technically is a super set. My son would probably have this just because it's different.
Good evening from Australia 🇦🇺
Is that tuning knob operating backwards? Normally you'd turn clockwise to move the dial to the right - but it looks like on this one that move the dial to the left
I see a face on the front… pretty cool
Seems like a bluetooth brick would've been the better thing to make LEGO!
I do like the colors🌸
Wow my daughter (16) likes it. It looks a bit like my first owned radio from early 80ties, but I miss the cassette player.. that would be awesome! Then I could finally play my cassettes again..
This almost looks like the one I grew up a with only switch out the light green/aqua to a dark brown or tan color, and it would bring back my childhood. mom hanging clothes on the line and my brother and i playing with our hot wheels in the dirt.
Ok now I now what to maybe ask for my birthday
What are the white grill pieces used here?
They are not 100% paper bags. LEGO are following the 95/5 rule. This allows paper, coated in a plastic material, to be called paper. This means that when it’s recycled the gloop will be separated from the paper and dealt with separately.
Cool set. I would probably cover those studs with plates. You know I hate exposed studs. Otherwise it is really cool. .tfs
Love it 😍
It kinda reminds me of the radio from gilligans island
I think Bose makes a mini speaker that would fit inside with some small mods that would be much better
That's good.
Yes 😊.old school radio I was born in 1978. And think this oridganal radio came out. Before I was born. True. And it's given me a thort. For a moc. Build . The paper bag s for. This set. Yay yes every one I seen. Open this set has. Goten paper bags. 😊
When do we ge the Lego legoset?
Love it
Get rid of single use plastic, with single use paper.'There go the tree's.
As for the radio, will look nice next to your lego gamestation.
Now finding the right speaker set, right bricksie?
Man I thought the sound Brick was gonna be a blue tooth device for your phone!
You could put a small Bluetooth speaker in there
