  • More than 1 year ago I did contact "wolstenholme100" from CZcams. I asked him if he had some videos to share that I can edit and upload on my channel. He was kind enough to send me 14 min. footage. What you see here is 10 min. documentary that I did slightly edit it for my channel. I hope you will enjoy it.

The Kalash are a polytheistic people, meaning that they believe in many gods. The gods that they believe in are the twelve gods of Ancient Greece which makes them the only people who continue this worship! Gods such as Zeus, the god of gods, Apollo, the god of the sun, and Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty, are such gods that they pay homage to. Shrines which are found in every Kalash village remind us of the religious sanctuaries we would stumble across in Ancient Greece. They serve as houses of worship where prayers and sacrifices are offered. Oracles who played a major role in acting as mediators and spokespeople between the gods and the mortals still hold a position of importance in the social structure of the Kalash. In 1896 a British explorer by the name of George Robertson visited the Kalash and did a study on them. He concluded that fifty percent of the Kalash’s language derives from Ancient Greek. Such similarities can be found in their gods’ names. Zeus is called Zeo, Aphrodite is called Frodait, the name Dionysus has kept the same pronounciation. The Kalash have words such as demos meaning city-state and use the word ‘ela’ as an imperative command meaning come here. There was recently a tablet found in a village of the Kalash whose message was in the form of hieroglyphics. When the code was deciphered the message read, ‘Alexander the Great lives forever’.

They earn very good name for Pakistan because many many foreign tourists used to visit the valley . It is because tarchmir hotel in chitral used to be packed with foreign tourists back in 1986.

Islamabad, Nov 29 (Prensa Latina) Pakistan''s age old Kalash ''Suri Jagek'' tradition was reportedly nominated by UNESCO to be included in its list of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
The decision was taken during the 13th session of UNESCO's Intergovernmental Committee held in Mauritius, geo.tv website posted.
'Suri Jagek' (observing the sun) is a traditional meteorological and astronomical practice based on the observation of the sun, moon and stars in reference to the local topography by the Kalasha indigenous community residing in the Chitral district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, province of Pakistan.
'Suri Jagek' plays a key role for the Kalasha community in important social events such as festivals, feasts, rituals, animal husbandry and farming practices.
The Permanent Delegate of Pakistan to UNESCO and Ambassador of Pakistan to France Mr. Moin ul Haque described the nomination of the Suri Jagek tradition by UNESCO as a historical achievement and said that this tradition will be protected as part of the shared human heritage of the entire world and will continue to serve its spiritual and utilitarian purposes.
The ambassador said that the nomination of 'Suri Jagek', being Pakistan's first ever-independent nomination at this forum, was a milestone to ensure a better visibility of the rich folklore traditions and cultural diversity of the country.

I just wanna erase this one misconception that kalash are somehow different then the other people in there region in terms of appearance or facial features the fact is that NO kalash and the their neighbouring people all share the same kind of looks and facial features kalash are not the only ones in Pakistan who have some blonde or redhead people with coloured eyes (blue and green specially) there are other tribes in chitral and KPK which has these features, oh and also the Alexander defendant claim is just a myth and the funny thing is kalsh themselves never even claimed any connection to Alexander or any other nation there were some white British explorers/army officers who when they came here and saw some blondes with blue eyes they couldn't make sense of it and apparantly they had read a little bit about the the history of our region so they concluded that they must be related to greeks (the funny thing is this is that Greeks aren't even blondes with blue eyes themselves they're southern meditation people and these features are not common in Greeks infact these are typically northern European traits/features) dna results shows that these people are locals they've nothing to do with meditation people
