My mom makes this dessert once in a while, and I absolutely ADORE it! One of my favorite desserts!
i used chocolate graham crackers instead and folded in some chunks of Oreo cookies into the filling and it was phenomenal!
Yes it really tastes amazing we do this recipe a lot in summer it's super easy and very cool to eat in the hot days, but we dip the crackers in coffee it gives a beautiful coffee taste in the back ground and we don't put that much filling in between layers of crackers you kinda even between the two, and we either use vanilla pudding or vanilla/chocolate whipped cream depends on what you have at home, but the whipped cream makes the cake lighter and it melts in the mouth. We finish with a layer of cream and decorated with ground chocolate or crackers something crunchy at the top :) And voilà a super tasty easy dessert
In Spain we call this "Grandma's tart" and its delicious 😋😋🍰🍰
My mother always made this for me but with chocolate pudding sandwiched between layers of graham crackers, no chocolate sauce needed on top, just crumpled pieces of graham crackers. She called it "Ice Box Cake". Best part was licking the spoon! It was always my favorite dessert and still is. Congratulations on the new baby!

I've made Laura's homemade vanilla pudding multiple times and it's to die for! Just add less vanilla because I think the 1 TBSP of vanilla is a typo. I love you Laura and I can't wait to make this too! 😍😍😍
My grandma use to make this recipe for every family event and everyone loved it. She never gave anyone the recipe because she always said. “I want this to be the treat you only have when I’m around” I was so glad to see it on here and can’t wait to make it for my family.

I do a cake similar to this every Christmas. I do 2 layers with the cream and then an extra layer of whipped cream and instead of chocolate on top I do icing sugar mixed with some milk until it's nice and thick .. then I add a little chocolate on top of course lol sooo yummy

i have made this for years .. you can use chocolate pudding or any other flavor pudding instead of the vanilla (banana pudding with sliced bananas in the layers) easy glaze.. canned fudge frosting , heated in the microwave and poured over the top .
Except there is no comparison between canned frosting and what she made for the glaze. Who wants all those chemicals in canned anything?
If you're using instant pudding it probably wouldn't bother you to use instant frosting.

I make this also but use French Vanilla pudding and to make it quick & easy I purchase dark chocolate or chocolate fudge prepared frosting and microwave for 1 min and pour over top.

this has been in our family for years but hint I got from my aunt for busy moms to get a jar of chocolate frosting and put in microwave 15 or 20 seconds and pour over the top

My mum frequently makes something very similar to this (actually just made it today too), but instead of topping it off with chocolate she makes the bottom-layer graham cookies, then a thick layer of cream, then a layer of whipped cream and tops it off with a layer of puff pastry. To make it easier to serve she already cuts the puff-pastry into portion-sized squares before baking it and just lays it out on top after baking it (otherwise cutting it would make a big mess)
