    Thank you for sharing your experiences with all these different medications when they went beyond the right dose for you.
    I experienced prolonged issues with My stimulant being too high a dose for the first time this summer and it took me about two months to figure out it was the meds that had worsened so many of my symptoms. I had no idea why I couldn't focus on any task for more than a few minutes, I was super anxious, my time blindness got way worse, and I couldn't have like..a normal conversation with someone without interruption. It caused me to miss doses of my other medication I'm on and then things just continued to spiral. Not good.
    I'm glad that I have a better idea of how these meds effected you at the very least, so if I shift meds I'll know what some of the possible side effects are.

    my only experience is with vyvanse, but I know exactly what you mean when you say skull tightness. I tend to notice it more as the medicine starts wearing off as I struggle to keep focus. Under normal circumstances, when I take my meds, it's like putting glasses on my brain. I can focus on whatever I want/need to, but as it starts wearing off, I start to notice that tightness as I try to maintain that level of focus. I'm on 60 mg time release now, (which is what I was on for most of my life) but when I as on 70 mg, and had little to no sleep, I would just get that tightness, and it would evolve into a headache so bad I wouldn't be able to focus at all that day. also, sometimes when I took 70 mg, my chest would be a bit tight. I honestly thought I had a mild case of covid. These are symptoms of high blood pressure, and you need to be careful with it.

Turns out nothing will work. My ADRA2A shows a poor response. Basically the liver does not metabolize it and I'll only get negative effects. You should consider it to see what works best at what dosage.

    Been on vyvanse for 4 years. I take buspirone with it and it helps increase my appetite. Focus is amazing but sometimes overstimulated and hyperfocused. Anxiety even with buspirone can be very high. I've gotten petty balanced only a few days of anxiety this month with exercising and small meals throughout the day. Not really irritable more extreme emotions. Considering going back to 30mg been on 40mg for almost 2 years and I've just been coping with the undesirable side effects because I was too scared to change. I've had depersonalization/derealization and agoraphobia but honestly don't think it's soley the vyvanse but taking away the focus and all the positive things that it does for my adhd scares me more than having panic attacks sometimes.

      try taking Magnesium and eating more protein, and talk to your doctor about 5-HTP maybe (helps the brain)
      and making sure you sleep , if you're tired the medication just makes me a bit stimulated, then insta crash. . . .
      But still, all them have "come downs" and Ritalin can be worse for some... Try Vyvanse if you can afford it.. its basically the main salt in Adderall - that we slowly metabolize
      so the come up is slower, and the come down. Downside is it takes 1-2hours to take effect... I dont like them for that one reason.. I cant time manage that well enough.

It was also easier to have internal discussion about things I want to say to others, that kind of thing. But after 4 hours or less, I became extremely sleepy and couldn't focus on anything! The feeling was almost the same as taking too much coffee or energy drinks. 😢
      As side effects, I've got some agitation fellings in my belly (it was completely different from the gastritis or reflux I have due to my normal anxiety). I also felt a small compression on my head (probably due to vein constrictions). My blood pressure didn't gone higher then usual nor my heart frequency (maybe very slightly).

Unfortunately it has become scarce and so I switched to Vyvance. I’m not totally convinced it’s as good as Adderall, despite costing way more. However, I’ve only been on it about a week, so maybe it’s too soon to say, and it’s gotta be better than nothing.

      It's important to remember that everyone's experience with ADHD medications can vary, and what works well for one person might not be as effective for another. It's good that you're trying different medications under the guidance of a healthcare professional to find what works best for you. It may indeed be too early to tell if Vyvanse is a good fit, but give it some time and keep an open dialogue with your doctor to discuss any concerns or adjustments that may need to be made. Remember, finding the right medication and dosage can be a trial-and-error process, so patience and communication are key.

    Soo.. When it comes to meds for Add... its been tricky for me to know for sure if its me or the meds! So I tried out Concerta 18 mg years ago when I was studying art abroad! My first gut impression was... Shit this is strong stuff and Im way to focused... It decreased my creative power and I got so anxious! I stoped taking it and continued my unfocused life. When I came back to Sweden I hade a stressful period and got emotionally burned out! So I made a quick call and asked for meds so I could manage my teacher work..
    So I was on the edge to get a acute stress reaktion before I took the meds.. My psychiatric dr told me that "the best time to try out a stimulant was when life is bumpy" So once again I diden´t listen to my gut... took the meds, lost 30 pund within a month and of course got so stressed out adding the meds to my already stressed out mood.. That I fell over and lost my job and my self.
    My problem has been that I rather listen to a dr then me though I know my first gut feeling are right! To communicate and being understod and listen to.. has not been my great luck, even tho I´m a great communicator... Its hard to communicate when your deep in a Add drowning emotional hole and also when your agitated on stimulants and would rather not explain your self!
    So I´m wary impressed by people on youtube such as yourself, that are so exact in what they are feeling and what is right and wrong for theme! Wish I could do that! Thanks/Madelen

      I'm sorry to hear about the side effects you're experiencing with Focalin. Insomnia and feeling overstimulated can be common side effects of stimulant medications like Focalin. It's important to discuss these symptoms with your prescribing doctor, as they may be able to adjust your dosage or explore alternative medications that could provide symptom relief without the unwanted side effects. Finding the right medication and dosage that works for you is often a process of trial and error, so open communication with your doctor is key.

    I hate stimulates because they work well. I hate them because they make me irritable esp vyvanse. I have developed a tolerence where i feel like its thinned out but once i went up just one it would last all day but wayyyyy to speedy like bugged out. Im always irratble and quick to anger. Vyvanse makes me hyper focused only sometimes lol the struggle I HATE ADHD!!!!!!! I am at a cross roads. Since I've been on the lowest dose for about 3 years I am going up again once more just to see if my tolerance level can handle it. Vyvanse at the lowest dose help me for a very long time but like I said before now it just feels completely thinned out like I have to drink green tea to extend it and that can't be good on the heart. I'm anti-social as is Vyvanse makes me more sociable and I can actually stay focused and want to talk to people.

      I understand that managing ADHD symptoms and finding the right medication can be a challenging and frustrating process. It's important to work closely with your healthcare provider to find the most suitable medication and dosage for you. They can help monitor your tolerance levels, assess any side effects, and adjust your treatment plan accordingly. It's also worth discussing your concerns about irritability and quick anger with your healthcare provider, as they may be able to provide strategies or consider alternative medications that better suit your needs. Remember that ADHD management is a journey, and it may require some trial and error to find the right approach for you. Don't hesitate to reach out to your healthcare provider for support and guidance along the way.

    I almost feel like a martian with my dose... mind you, I had prior heavy drug abuse ect.
    I take 2 x 30mg Adderall XR (2nd one if needed) as they last only 5-7hours max for me (mind you some days 1 dose is enough, IMO sleep , eating ect and diet ,exercise is most important while taking these medications... They effect us and the actual efficacy of the drug, Id suggest 5-HTP with your doctor and taking Magnesium/ Try eating high protein diet... Dont give up- and like you said it feels like a zombie after, but it goes away... we adjust quickly
    Vyvanse is great , but I cant afford it... Ritalin sucks imo, and concerta is just XR so - meh.. BUT thats MY personal take... everyone is different.

    • @HIDDENADHD
      @HIDDENADHD  Před rokem

      That's an interesting perspective. I can see how the term "Over Focus" might better capture the experience of hyperfocusing, where one becomes intensely absorbed in a task or activity to the point of losing track of time and neglecting other responsibilities. It emphasizes the tendency to become fixated on one thing at the expense of other important tasks or priorities. Thank you for sharing your suggestion!

    Are these really overdoses? 54mg concerta is a high dosage in its category but I don't think it can be called overdosing since even 6 year olds can get that dosage prescribed.

      an overdose is wholly dependent on the person and what a proper, effective dose is for said person

    • @therideneverends1697
      @therideneverends1697 Před 11 měsíci

      overdose simply means a dose higher than the individual can tolerate where side effects become unmanageable and the therapuic effect begins to wane.
      Not all overdoses are life threatening events, with many medications theres quite a large window between "uncomfortable" and "lifethreatening"

      It's not uncommon for individuals with ADHD to be prescribed a combination of different medications to address their symptoms throughout the day. Each person's medication regimen is tailored to their specific needs and response to treatment. It's important to work closely with your healthcare provider to find the right combination and dosage that works best for you. Remember to follow their instructions and communicate any concerns or side effects you may experience.

    Concerta is just Ritalin LA.... They're the same drug.

    • @forthesakeoflogic5254
      @forthesakeoflogic5254 Před 10 měsíci

      Not exactly. They're both longer-acting formulations of methylphenidate, but the release mechanisms, duration, and doses are different. Same active ingredient, but different drugs.
      Concerta(oros based formulations) have an initial drug overcoat that's dissolved with a little over 20% of the dose within an hour of ingesting is that's similar to instant release, and then laser drilled compartments within the tablet releases the medication over a series of hours via osmotic pressure.
      Ritalin LA dissolves about half of the immediate dose within the hour following ingestion, and then extended release beads making up the other 50% of the remaining dose are metabolized. Longer than Ritalin instant release, but typically much shorter than concerta.
      Ritalin LA is closer to Adderall XR, then concerta and how the medications are formulated.
