Considering the Vault program's true purpose, then all the vault-boys (and girls) are either dead, insane, horribly mutated, or simply trapped in a vault they can't leave. From what is anyone's guess. Vault door not closing, psychoactive drugs in the ventilation system, a live panther, FEV testing chambers, the Enclave popping open the door and gunning down everyone in a blue jumpsuit, raiders storming the vault, white noise in the PA system that turns people crazy, genetic experimentation, yearly sacrifices, dividing up paranoid people into groups and watching them tear each other apart, gambling as a legal system, vault full of drug addicts, overstocked armory, Gary, the possibilities are endless.

Well there's two scenarios that hiding under desk can help.
One) It makes you feel like you do have a chance.
Two) If you do survive you won't get radiation burns. (Still get a hell of radiation probably you'll live for a good week)
obviously if you'rr is larger it should be able to resist more explosion
4:15 there's a perk called 'the professional' in Fallout New Vegas, a reference to Leon the professional. Vault boy is dressed like Jean Reno in the movie, he's wearing round glasses, a woolen hat, a coat, he's holding two silenced 10mm pistols and even the plant he's always carrying appears in the perk.

It's interesting that the artist says that "it's just a thumbs up to say that everything is okay when it really isn't", and then they use that exact tactic in the new show. Then again, you would use that strategy in the event of a nuclear bomb so it makes sense that the character teaches his daughter that trick.

Although the thumb theory was featured in the fallout series, I don’t think it the thumb thing was for measuring a atomic bomb. This because when Cooper Howard was still a celebrity before he became the ghoul he used the thumb thing when being with vault tec. The reason for saying that the thumb was for measuring atonic bombs is because he was using a excuse to not use the thumb thing because of the real thing that vault tec was doing, leading him to decline from vault tec and get a divorce (from his wife which was a part of vault tec’s doings).
In the fallout tv show on prime video they show a character doing the thumb thing to see if he’s in the fallout zone its 2024

Fallout game series is one of the best concept of a game ever made, I like the retro style of gaming although the year is much ahead than it's generation of technology and everything. Fallout is definitely a unique and one of a kind game

The thumbs up thing makes no sense as you could be just outside the blast radius upwind and be basically fine or many hundreds of miles downwind and get a lethal dose of radiation. It's also not present in any civil defense stuff that anyone has been able to find. It's a myth.
@@davidthompson7723 If one watches and "sees" a nuke blast, it is usually already too late for you. The rays travel just as fast as the light flash did. So not likely that any civil defense 'test apparatus' (your thumb in this case) would incorporate ANY activity that involves looking at a blast take place. AND in the Vault-Tec wasteland of 'their' future it would appear that the radiation is survivable. The fix-it-all "stim-pack" is also a fictional aspect. So, like in movies, one has to immerse oneself into the game's reality and dismiss some known things... of course. It's a game, silly. (talking to myself)... So nope... WE never did that stupid sh*t. So it is part of the fictional VT lore. Even the very start of the game where they do not drop the vault elevator pad until AFTER the nuke blast is 'seen' and even the shock wave hits as they are barely below ground level. Not very realistic there either. First thing I noticed, in fact.

As a barber, I have to pedantically point out that the black character's hair at the end is not a crew-cut... it's a fade. A crew-cut (or Quo-Vadis/College-cut) is the same length all over (sides as long as the top). A fade is tight on the sides (tighter on the bottom and slowly longer -- faded -- as it goes up) with an even longer length on the top.
