  • They are called "patrol specials" -- security guards with some police training. For a city struggling to get a handle on crime, some government officials say it could be a quick way to add eyes and ears to the streets of San Francisco. abc7ne.ws/451gk8k

    ALL city officials need to be fired immediately! They are worse than useless. And then find competent replacements. Sure there'll be no one minding the shop for a while, but that's the case now.

    Yay. The SF Police Patrol Specials need to come back. They're in the charter, they are governed by the Police commission. They are a great asset to the the Cops, they abate small calls. They by charter are the only security offices that can patrol. They have radios to dispatch and headquarters. They used to have go some academy training as they still should. They are a great asset to any area. It's only the POA that doesn't like them because 10B overtime crap and Black bear security ( sfpd officer owned). I don't know how a chartered group can be removed without a vote.

  • @JDHorn
    @JDHorn Před 11 měsíci +10

    So let me get this straight. We’re supposed to pay for these patrols in addition to what we’re being taxed, we’re supposed to spend our free time cleaning up the graffiti, and pay for signs to tell tourists it’s their fault if their cars get broken into? This is absolute madness, and it’s time to get these people out of office. The officials are simply passing the buck, not dealing with the fact that criminals are not citizens exercising their right to live how they choose. The officials are de facto partnering with criminals to make the city a place where anyone with a choice will opt not to live. The criminals, both those in office and not, have to face consequences severe enough to curtail their behavior.

    • @heyaisdabomb
      @heyaisdabomb Před 11 měsíci +3

      @@celestialnubian This is the reality of the situation though. No one is serious about dealing with the problem. They have a meeting to come up with solutions to car breakins and the best they could come up with is signs? They used to have task forces in the bay area to crack on mostly people doing California rolls through stop signs, like that was the crime of the century. And they can't bring back task forces to crack down on car and small buisness breakins? We can't get the no chase policy reversed? We can't get undercovers into these operations to bust them up? It's a slap in the face to every tax payer who lives here in San Francisco to say this is the best they can do? They are trying to be career politicians and that's the problem. They don't want to offend the liberals and lose their vote, but the reality is, every liberal client I meet with is tired of this and wants criminals held accountable. They are going to lose their seats if they don't realize the voters are done with these games. I've voting for a clean sweep, and I encourage everyone else in SF to do the same.

    • @celestialnubian
      @celestialnubian Před 11 měsíci +2

      @@heyaisdabomb When you started talking about "liberals", I knew you weren't a serious person. The fact is that we as a society really don't give a f*** about people till they inconvenience us. We don't want a just society. We just want anything unsavory to be out-of-sight so it can be out-of-mind. This is a uniquely American pathology.

    • @jakesoros2376
      @jakesoros2376 Před 3 měsíci

      @@celestialnubian Nope, @heyaisdabomb has some solid points. The reason we don't even have the Patrol Specials anymore is because the Police Commission, under influence from the police officers union, removed the Special Patrols law enforcement and citation powers in 1994 so off duty police would be more enticing to businesses seeking to use the new-at-the-time 10B overtime program.
      Rather than have SFPD patrol high crime areas whilst leaving the richer, shop filled neighborhoods to be patrolled by the Patrol Specials, whose salary and training was paid for by the neighborhood and businesses that employed them, instead you have tired, frustrated, outnumbered police officers patrolling the city, handling vagrants in weakest manner possible, only doing radio calls with no proactive policing, or otherwise hiding at their precincts.
      It's a mess, and stigmatizing our nation's Patriots and Nationalists whilst ignoring our City Councils corruption has only made it worse. Just because you paid thousands and sat through lectures to get a degree doesn't mean you're anymore intelligent than @heyaisdabomb .
