This thing's massive AP round is meme worthy for the amount of silly overmatching it does because you're firing it out of a mobile five story building into people's heads.
With a downsized japanese version of the gustav cannon.
What I don't understand is why the Type 5 Heavy's 15cm AP shell does so much less damage than 60TP's 152mm and E-100's 15cm (680 vs 750). Given how unlike those two, the Type 5 doesn't have the option to load HEAT for over 310mm pen, I don't think giving it lower alpha is really necessary.
For that matter, given how badly derp guns in general have suffered from the HE nerf, I think the previous nerfs to the HE alpha of Japanese super-heavies should be reversed. Would a Type 5 having 1100 alpha really still be broken when HE shells don't splash anymore?

HE rework: the change no one wanted and no one needed. Proof of what Jingles said in one of his videos concerning how idiots try to fix things that aren't broken just to impress their bosses.
obj279(e) and donkeror players were crying that people spam HE to dig them out, so now these tanks are even more broken
The HE changes were actually one of the better things they've done in the last decade wtf, HE was broken in certain situations.
that one time when both sides is hull down that my kranvagn cant do anything to an enemy 60tp and an enemy 60tp cant do anything to me because of that HE nerf.

@@buatareddevils2636 what helds itself back is being and autoloader and poor HEAT pen so it cannot brawl that well and its HP is lower than some mediums and assault tank destroyers so its outmatched by them. if you do see a kran infront of you just ignore it and find another way never sit infront of an autoloader. also kran has a bigger cupola than the chieftain and much more weaker and that chieftain doesnt have autoloader or poor shell pen so yea that tank is op.
This battle was a 1 in a thousand. Most battles won’t go this well in a type 5.

Not really, this map just has some good positions for superheavies, some maps aren’t going to be good, like prokhorovka. Like others mentioned it also is due to QBs skill, but it’s not the deciding factor.

It's been dead for years, went from a bad Maus to P2W nonsense to a bad Maus
the Maus has also suffered the loss of HE... now facing a hull down 60TP is a hopeless situation. So now the Maus is also like a bad Maus :)
When it first came out it was just outright op tho, remember how much I hated facing them. Like, it was basically a tank that was a maus with a kv-2 gun.

Well, KV2 was heavily nerfed and is basically obsolete now. I'd assume no one would seriously argue that this tank was rather actually "buffed" after the recent HE changes were introduced.

Basicly its even worse at all kv2 with ap of 132 is op tank even for tiers 8
I was used on hesh all time but now ap shells makes better score at all
I played my Type 5 after the update, bounced AP twice, switched to HE and did sub 100 dmg, then switched to APCR and bounced once before returning to AP and doing sub 300 dmg. At end of battle I sold my Type 5.
I was really more concerned about what the HE nerfs would do to the classic KV-2 and the SU-152.

Still my biggest issues with these HE nerfs is around some of those Tier 7 through Tier 9 grinds on stock tanks when you have yet to unlock the top gun. You used to be able to do some damage to those higher tiers heavies with a stock gun by loading HE on hull downs. Just see once again this is a change that main impacts the F2P or newer player group dramatically more than paying customers.
Still think there could have been a better answer than an HE nerf. If SPG's were the issue then just limit the number in higher tiers.
they should have buffed spalliner instead of nerfing HE/arties.

Still think a limit to 1 SPG per side at tier 9 or 10 would have been good start to see how that changes things.
I think improvements to MM should have been done first as a balancing aspect.
@@CPowell133 that's not the solution cause we shifted to a boring hull down meta and with 1 arty per team that would still happen, by buffing spalliner u would make it mandatory for those tanks and in a way u balance them out by removing one of their equip slots. the problem right now are those op tanks who break the fairness of the game. artas are bad but with the spalliner change i suggested they would be way less effective against ridgeline tanks.
Given how hard HE got nerfed, I think those buffs to the alpha damage should be reverted on Japanese superheavies. Give the lower-tier derps back their 910 alpha HE, and give the Type 4 and Type 5 the 1100 alpha (and at least give the Type 4 and 5's AP shell the same 750 alpha as the 60TP and E-100).
I just downloaded WoT after a 2.5-year break. Still have yet to actually play a game. Just not sure about some of the changes that have taken place, especially for the tiers where the majority of my tanks are located.
As my first tier 10 with a female commander and each crew having multiple skills trained, yes ienjoyed playing the tank, i grinded this tank because of its gun back then with that big HE rounds it fires, now that its gone, i gradually lost interest
the ap gun is way better anyway
play type 4 with 15cm, its really underrated and fun.
not to mention the T49, which is now as useless as a rock on the battlefield.
I had the same thing with KV-2. I two marked it, i mastered it, i got 5 skill crew... And then wargaming fucked it

Derp is basically dead after HE changes, too unpredictable and highly dependant on mm against weakly armoured tanks, derp tanks are pretty much useless now
By killing the derps, they also made it pointless to grind any of the lower tier tanks. Who wants to grind, when there's a useless piece of junk waiting on tier X?
I rarely see type 5 heavy in battle these days.
I actually stopped the Japanese heavy grind with the O-Ho, I played that one a lot.
But right before I was going to get the type 4, they nerfed them hard.
And now with the HE re-work, there seems to be no point at all.
I should submit a refund for my KV-2(R) since you can only use the 152 on that tank.
because players like Quickybaby complained a lot about HE in combination with Arty and TYPE 5 heavy. Especially the TYPE 5 is unplayable now. The hull down monsters are even better after the HE nerv, bacuse nothing can stop them anymore. These are the tanks the unicorns like to play including QB. After the HE nerv nobody can stop them anymore. Even arty is helpless.

I’m going to quit next update because of Field Modification. Since I’ve always had accelerated crew training on it means that I still have to grind XP on those tanks despite having 3 marked them already, total nonsense

it’s not much different honestly unless type 5 or t49 was your favorite tank. KV2 is still good even if less effective against higher tier heavies. Can we admit that high caliber HE was degenerate? The 60tp was ridiculous along with tier 10 TDs shooting HE doing 500 damage no matter what.
@@caviaporcellus7253 the only tds that did 500 dmg no matter what were fv215b 183 and fv4005, both utterly ruined now. Just as KV-2 and japanese heavies. Firing HE from big/medium sized guns was a decent counter to the plonkers in 279e's and hulldown donquerors/s.conquerors. They have been changing the game for worse, for a long while now. I endured the never ending power creep of tier 8 premiums, ruined match making with its ridiculous templates, only one light tank at tier 10 (not including ebr) being competitive, borderline stupid wheeled vehicles wich are commonly hated, and ABSURDLY overpowered tier 10 reward tanks mentioned above, never getting nerfed. I was grinding my teeth reading every single patch note, because i knew i could always enjoy my KV2, or big boy TDs. But now thats gone too.
So....for 85% of the player base...we'll ONLY be using armor piercing.
I mean, first 6k for a shot. Add in 6 secs for Intuition, and Then knowing where to attack 600 + kinds of tanks?

I'd say that stay in the O-I it is the best one alongside O-NI. If you want, get O-NI too. O-I's stock gun is op, 175mm pen on standard and 200 on gold. It is crazy pen on tier 6. Also the only situation where O-I sucks is when you are againts tier 8 becuz they will pen u all the time.
@@errar548 i would go with oi exp out of all japenese tanks. It can go with 30 with the right stuff and like 2500 dpm on tier 5 with 121 mm of pen! It obliterates everything, and the gun is accurate enough to shoot weakspots of higher tier tanks if mm trolls you
Type 5 heavy need 400mm on turret armor and 500mm of hull armor to be competitive without changing the gun stadistic.
hull armor is ok at some points. I think the hull's weakspots have to be improved.
That moment at 5:52 when you find a full health E100 hiding behind a bush never having left their base, it makes you wonder how they reached tier 10. No wonder their team lost the game with bad players like that.
I have never seen a type 5 have this good of a game in years, for quickybaby's skill level and the chance one in a hundred to attack from behind sure it's competitive, now try this tank in prokorovka with 3 arties and see what happens...

I don't know QB. I saw this video and excitedly jumped in my 5 skill crew Type 5 heavy, launched into battle, lined up my shots and fired 16 AP rounds... no pens and no damage.
This is just Wargaming finding a way to sque the in game economy to make people buy more in game currency.

I quit playing because every tank I loved playing was nerfed into oblivion, and HE nerf was last straw. And I was a tank collector, I have almost every premium tank that was available up to 2 years ago. I spent a ridiculous amount of money on this game, but with all the changes and nerfs I won't give them another dime.

No, the Type 5's gold shell is HE. It has the 75mm pen standard HE, 192mm pen gold HE, and 252mm pen AP.

And since the Type 5 is so tall, it gets more chances than most tanks to fire downward onto turret and hull roofs. If the plate is 50mm or less the 152mm gun overmatches it. It would seem like you're probably best-off only use HE when you have a shot at back of a tank or are shooting something with tissue paper armor. So really, the Type 5's 15cm simply isn't a derp gun anymore, and shouldn't be played like it is.
@@RedXlV I agree, what I'm saying is that the changes ruined it as a derp tank. It's fine with AP, but the derp is horrible. And I don't think people grinded for the Type 5 Heavy, or any other tank in that line, to play with AP. There are better alternatives.

Armor creep is the reason for the previous HE meta... tanks used to have weakspots (cheeks of the Maus/E100 turret, E5 cupola, etc) but now you've got to pixel snipe vision ports with gold ammo in order to pen. Small wonder folks resorted to firing HE in order to decrease their exposure time.
Does that mean that other vehicles that rely on their HE rounds are going to feel the same pain? Like the KV-2, the SU-152 and all of the other vehicles that work well with their Derp guns?

Well I never got to the tier 10. I sold type 4 heavy even before the HE-ammo update because how horrible the tank was. I can just imagine what it would be like to now go on the grind.
I finally got to Type 5 when they did the gun rework . couldn't make the type 4 work for me so sold it and never looked at type 5 since its a slow moving juicy target for SPG

Yep, you can get a 1 in a 100 game like this, but that's what they are, edge cases.
I agree. I had only the type 4 heavy but i can say that the tank is just awful. Too slow, too many weakpoints, maybe an okay gun, but nothing special. It just is the big target for those who press the 2 button.
I agree with you. This was one in a hundred battle. Mostly you suffer in Type5. Last time I played it, my opponent was an Obj279-e. Had simply no chance. Ap can't go trough, HE dealth 50-100 dmg, and I was farmed with heat, with my nice raised hitpoints.

The reason it didnt show the resupply of gold rounds is you had some in your inventory that you replaced with the new AP rounds

Buff the tank by removing the hull cheeks. That would enable you to actually use the armor, which is the main strength of the tank. Right now the enemy just loads premium ammo and will go through every single time.

i've made mine into a literal wall instead of focusing on Damage. i have really good spotting range, can spot things easier in bushes for some reason and i take little to no damage from Artillery shells it has made me into a scout wall. i have done more support damage in 5 battles then i have done normal damage with the thing in total!
Funny intro and dont forget about kv-2 poor kv cant use HE effectively now :/ Also there is no new round for kv-2 :( at least they could buff pen on AP or something ...

The Kv2 is still very viable though. Recently I’ve been average close to 2k dmg in the kv2
@@dragonmade8243 yea its more and more luck based and I dont like that and some t8 are virtually invunerable to kv-2 now (deffender etc..) its like 40 dmg and 20s reload or 132mm pen gold that cant pen even side most of the times, only good thing is 50mm overmatch

yep...bought a M53/M55 recently...with that stock gun...im horrified, its so difficult to grind when u shoot a HE at target and cause like only 50-200+ dmg....
QB, what equipment/consumables are you running? A garage view should always be included.
I think I'd still rather use the 14cm, the 15cm seems like it still sacrifices too much.

Any russian heavy line is your safest and least stressful option. They have strong, unbalanced armor, toxically good gold rounds, and WG will probably never nerf them into oblivion because they're player based is composed mostly of RU and EU players. Also, Obj. 279e.....

played wot pc and console for a few years but took a long break and only hear negative things about it now.
Surprisingly there is alot of teamwork at t3 and 4 so I might durp around t5 or 6 for fun if the teamwork sucks at higher tiers

I don't know about the Type 5, QB. I'm just here to comment that World of Tanks creators (Wargaming) have killed my admiration and trust in their game. I stopped playing it just a month ago due to the fact of the news about Crew 2.0. I've known shit about it, but it's expected that Wargaming are going to literally install that kind of mess in their messed-up game now.
I'm about there too. I'm not spending any more money as I've neared the door.
I keep meaning to move over to War Thunder but instead I just watch Phlydaily play it :P

I watched you whole premium tier 8 video and some single tank video's but some of them you haven't made like the AT 15A or the Panther M/10. So I was thinking it should be nice to assist us making a good decision between those premium tanks. It also seems no one has ever done a video like that, so it could do well and it will definitely be helpfull for me and me recruit ;)

Tbh, i really liked that change.. maybe not so heavily, since HE dmg seems like lottery at times.. but tanks like the type 5 where just no brainers, most HT standart rounds where usseles against it, so load gold and ignore its armor or lose the trade or give up on getting shot by it.
This isn’t a real type 5 game.. no one is spamming gold making you a xp piñata lol. And the score isn’t 15 to 1.

same. the OIs are monsters.. they still are. the O NI.. better use the low alpha gun as the derp doesnt really work unless you load gold. The tier IX is weak as fuck imo. i can easily far the thing on any tier IX i have or even some tier VIII. The tier X somehow still carries some respect if you are low tier. but as hight tier you can definetly deimantle it. Its the end of super Heavys in wot. Mauss....PZ VIII...Type 5 and i dare say even 705 are all a dying breed on the battlefield
It's hurt the playability of the Sturer Emil as well. It has a small number of rounds, long reload, long aim time, poor accuracy, and high damage. Now if you touch a track with a shell you get "armor not hit" AND you somehow don't even track the vehicle :/. A 12.5cm shell hits the track on a medium and "armor not hit"? Yeah.. they need to rebalance something. I get how before they kept the effective accuracy poor because it's very derpy, but now not only do I need to actually hit the target per rng, but there are also sections of the weak sides that you rng hit which do nothing as well.
Since they aren't going to change the entire damage model, I think they should at the *very* least shrink the bloom and ideally revisit the effective accuracy. Even giving it an extra couple of seconds of aim time past when the bloom stops it's always a roll of the dice. Now everyone gets a strong savings throw as well :/
I love the type 5 and most of the time bounce about 4.5k or more it’s fun playing as team riot shield

KV-2 & M4 Sherman been nerfed by the HE changes too. At higher tiers, it's practically impossible to dig out those Soviet tanks when they're hull down.

I recently came back to WOT and saw the O-NI in my garage, despite all the hate I've seen on the Type 4 and 5 H I spent some money to get the remaining 100k XP and 1M credits to get the Type 4 H, I had lots of bad battle in the beginning but over time they got better and so did my skill, I'm still motivated to do daily battles with this behemoth, I just figure out a way to work with the new updates, and I love this tank too much to stop using it. plus, every loss is a learning experience for me so I just get better with every battle, in my opinion it's a great tank you just gotta know how to use it.
They should start buffing the type heavies man especially the amor to increase a little to 300mm both turret and hull to pay off with bad traverse and mobility..those flat amore are literally paper with gold shells since most shells excede 300mm of penetration..ive played type 5 heavy and i hardly get bounces wen enemy gets gold shell in their muzzle
