    Looking at the carrier film, the crazing is because of this carrier material. Tamiya decals require several clear coats and then a good sanding thereafter to wick away the carrier film "bump". This is the single biggest downfall for Tamiya kits.

    You did a good job assembling this kit, thank you for sharing it 🙂
    These decals require a clear gloss coat (Varnish preferably) and the use of Micro Set along with Micro Sol with a final coat of clear at the end.
    Not bad for an old kit uh? 😊

      Used to use micro set but have recently swapped to Mr mark setter

      The Micro Sol to help the decals really conform to the surface is a good option following the Micro Set. Will follow 🙂@@yorkshiremanmodels

      @@yorkshiremanmodels You can sand the surface with fine grit paper after a couple coat of clear varnish until the carrier film disappears, then polish it with Tamiya compounds. Decals will look like painted on.

    Hello sir ! I wanna ask. Can i build a tamiya car without spray paint ?

    • @yorkshiremanmodels
      @yorkshiremanmodels  Před 9 měsíci

      yes of course you can
      you will need to brush paint it if you want to paint it but tamiya do make the kits plastic different colours so you could just build it and then apply the decals

    I've just completed the new italeri bmw gr5 kit,and sealed in decals with tamiya ts 13.Thin coats first.No crazing,but all the fruit of the loom decals faded????all other decals are great.weird.

    • @yorkshiremanmodels
      @yorkshiremanmodels  Před rokem

      Think the crazing must have been due to using too much Mr mark softener because it hasnt happened since
      Not had it where a decal colour faded like that

      Yes..I'm puzzled.I used my usual micro sol products,in small amounts.This has never happened before.Its just unusual that only the one type of sponsor decal was effected, to the point where reds went light pink.??

    have you tried using tamiya extra thin cement as thats the glue i use makes all the fiddly bits so much easier to place and stick down compared too revell contacta

    • @yorkshiremanmodels
      @yorkshiremanmodels  Před rokem

      I use tamiya extra thin on nearly all my builds
      I use revel contacts mostly on painted parts because tamiya thin doesn't work very well with painted parts
