A lot of the "fake" Hello Kitty ones look like they are somewhat official items. The Sakura Hello Kitty keychain is easily findable online (and is actually the one that was on my day, so I'm happy about that).. however, it's not uncommon for a company to resell their molds to other companies and that is how "fakies" are created
The "Hello Kitty" stuff was cute, the LOL babies were nightmare fuel. I just googled if there was an official Hello Kitty calendar available anywhere, but I found the exact same fake one, for a higher price.
This reminds me of when I found a Genshin Impact advent calendar and was really excited. Then I noticed they were using art from one of my favorite fan artists. So I reached out to the artist and they told me that their art was being stolen by the company making advent calendars. I was so disappointed and reached out to the company and they basically threatened to sue me for defamation if I told people that they were stealing art!!! Ever since then I have been super weary of advent calendars.
That sucks. I hope the artist was able to sue that company for the money they were owed for their art, but probably not. :(
Legally they cant 😂 there stealing art which is true. Ignore their babble and say bring it.
@ambergalway230 Well, that's true, but unfortunately, having to hire lawyers at all is often enough of a deterrent (even if the lawyer doesn't get paid unless they win), and it requires having the spoons to handle that song and dance if it does go to court, which is why rich people/ companies get lawyers and use them as a threat even if they mostly just settle otherwise. The legal ramifications are meant to frustrate people and sap their will to fight. However, if you can win, then it's absolutely worth it. Especially if you can find other artists they're stealing from and band together!
Edit: This is probably a situation where having a lawyer friend or approaching a well-known online lawyer to get advice and find connections could help!
Can you say, "Doll customization potential"? I'm sure Jackie could turn the LOL fakes into something adorable (or not so adorable!).
Send them out to the artist friends. 4 artists do 4 dolls each and then trade them so each artist has one from each of the other.
Or even use them as a base for clay to make more interesting figures. Those things have so much untapped potential I’d honestly love to see what she’d come up with even if it is as simple as making the a little cuter
Factory rejects are the bread and butter of these scammers. I’d love to see you team up with other creators to see who can reinvent them to make the better vignette!
A picnic or zombie hoard or whatever scenes using 3-5 knock off minis would be cool projects from different YT artists to auction off for one of the multi-channel fundraisers!
Factory rejects were my thought, too, especially the LOL dolls.
The hello kitty one isn’t half bad. I’d be interested in seeing how close to an actual hello kitty advent calendar this would be. Same with like a knock off Transformers or an actual Hasbro or anime advent calendar would be.
I bet the small charm things like the chair, the cherry, and the like are for decoration on a phone case, like those ones with cream and charms in them.
My only concern would be an unsuspecting parent who doesn't have much money to spare but shells out for these advent calendars for their child. I mean that second you could maybe get away with it but what if they bought only the first one, I can't imagine how upset the child would be. 🥺 They look like grandma came for a visit totally drunk wearing red lipstick and went on the rampage kissing anybody in close proximity to her. 😂😂😂

Okay, ngl I'm in love the "unlicensed" Hello Kitty calendar. I have a soft heart when it comes to Hello Kitty and her counterfeits. They look super cute.
Reminds me of the fake Gundam Advent calendar I got off Facebook a few years back. It has maybe five Gundam gashapon items, really cheap, and the rest seemed as though they just shoved whatever they had laying around into it. There was fake Zelda stuff, a fake Grogu, a bottomless rubber duck... But the really funny thing they stuck in it was a hand full of rubber worm fish bait
Oh god I remember that thing floating around. The Gachapon stuff was fine but then it completely fell apart after. xD

jackie! i love this video, the reason the bow isnt colored is because its a bow made out of her hair! they also kinda look like they just came out of the 2000's with the heavy eye liner and some of their hair especially the ones with the hats looks like a punkish 2000's kid

The Hello Kitty one is surprisingly good, it's almost like it's full of quality control fails rather than regular counterfeits. The rings are so lazy, but the rest is actually really good!

It would be cool to use the clay and paint from your new kit to modify the LOLs and show you can use the supplies even after you finish the 6 teddy bears.
Ignoring the fact that the hello kitty advent calendar is unlicensed... it's actually pretty good. Yeah, there are a few mess ups... but otherwise, it looks very good quality! Either thease people care about their products, or they really want to look like the real thing!

LOL does have a Little Sister that are basically those. They can’t use accessories and they don’t pose. Also the hair bow is a hair style. I want to say it became popular because of Katy Perry (seen Lady Gaga and Sia do it too).
I love how you knew how Hello Kitty’s face needed to be placed, one way to tell you grew up with her lol. I feel conflicted about that calendar. The keychains are cool because I wouldn’t mind destroying them on my purse and bags (unlike the real branded ones that are pricey and too cute to risk wrecking). And now I’m curious about that raccoon and bear character. Do they actually exist???? Again, thank you for wasting your cash for us 😂

the lol-fake with a bow isnt actually them being lazy. ponytailing/bunning hair into a bow shape is an actual style hence the texture on the bow! it matches her hair cause it is hair

Fun fact: an error I noticed on the Hello Kitty keychain at 18:11 is Hello Kitty actually doesn’t paw print/beans. This could be because she is supposed to resemble a real girl. My Melody or most other fluffy Sanrio characters has those paw print/beans.
Wowzers, that fake LOL advent was a raging dumpster fire haha 😅. They should have called it LOL disappointing surprise for how bad they looked. But I do agree the Hello Kitty wasn't too bad at all. Minus the few random pieces thrown in, the keychains were actually kind of cute.
The first calendar was a fever dream, the second pretty cute.
Jackie has me hooked on advent calendars, if only I had the control to not open them the minute I get them! I cannot wait for the new craft kit to get here!
As much as the lol one was bad, being a crafter I would repaint and/or redesign them , put a hook in them and turn them into ornaments for a small tree. 😊 Your awesome by way.
That is what I was going to suggest - turn them into Christmas ornaments. I am attempting that this year with a Nightmare at Christmas “official” advent calendar.
The LOL look like the lil sisters molds, which are non poseable figures, but painted horrendously.
The one with the bow is actually correct, aa the bow is part of the hair in the original design.
(Execution is still bad though.)
They also usually come with an accessory for the standard size doll, like a set of shoes or a bag that the little sister can sit in.
Oh my gosh… those… *things* are terrible! And you know some mom in a hurry is gonna buy them for much disappointment.. 😬

Let's be honest, some of those miniverse/real littles stuff was also super low quality so that the fake stuff isn't even too bad lol. I'm about to watch now but I'm gonna guess the Hello Kitty will be better just because Hello Kitty has been around way longer and all over the world so the bootleggers have perfected the copying way better than something like LOL dolls xD Let's see how it goes!

The hello kitty ones remind me of christmas one year when my parents struggled to get money and we had alot of off brand toys and we all loved them.
