    Nick, you’ve made a fantastic choice! I got my new Interceptor at the end of April this year and already done 2300 miles! I love it! It moves my soul, too. The only thing I might suggest is pillion relocation kit (Hitchcocks or Hepco & Becker) because after a few longish runs, my wife was feeling it due to the right leg angle. Relocation kit makes it much more comfortable. Funnily enough, I came across you both yesterday as I’m looking at an NC750X as a touring machine for me and my wife. I reckon the Interceptor could do it but the Honda seems better setup for it and offers better protection. Have fun with it, mate, you’ll continue to love it for a while I’m sure! Tom and Nome 🤘🏻

      @nicksepisode  Před 2 lety +3

      Hey Thomas, My wife won't be riding pillion much, she'll be on her own bike soon hopefully! The nc750x is a great bike and will take on any trip! The interceptor has a lot of character and for what I want this is more suited for my style of riding. One day I'll have both, a great do it all bike as well as my lovely interceptor for a Sunday bimble!

    Welldone Nick, The Interceptor is a lovely bike. I've got a Himalayan and ride it all year round, now almost 3 years old and 14K miles on the clock. No corrosion but I do wash the bike and apply a fine oil mist after every winter ride where salt has been put on the roads.

  • @davgb7904
    @davgb7904 Před 2 lety +4

    So pleased to watch this. I came down from bigger bikes to a Honda NC, new, in 2018. Loved it as a fabulous all round machine but missed certain things - little character, no looks as you say. Traded for a Z900RS in 2020, but amazing as it is, there was still little character. Looked at Triumphs but then rode a couple of Royal Enfields. I've just traded the Z for TWO REs - the Interceptor and Scram (I have different requirements!). Your enthusiasm and that of others is what's missing from so many motorcycles now.
    As for round the world - look up Ted Simon's books 'Jupiter's Travels' - he went round the world on a smaller Triumph twin in the 70s. The RE 650 is more than capable.
    The Street Twin - lovely bike, but it's not a retro, all modern bits and water cooling complications. Can't beat the reality of air cooling.

    • @nicksepisode
      @nicksepisode  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi and thanks for sharing your inspiring story, I can definitely see the appeal to own the interceptor and the scram, I wouldn't mind one or the Himalayan with my interceptor for the winter months. I agree with what your saying about the street twin too, its not really a modern classic, cant beat an air cooled motor for this type of bike. Thanks for the recommendation on Ted Simon, I will check him out. cheers and ride safe :)

    Nice review Nick, I've had my Baker Express for two years now and the only issue I've encountered was a sticky tyre valve that gave me a flat but at home luckily. Everywhere I go and park up it draws attention which irritates the hell out of my son who owns a Triumph Street twin, I've performed all the servicing myself with no issues.
    When I first bought the bike I had the intention to modify it but over time I've come to realise there's not a lot wrong with it, I just removed the black mudguard extensions and the fork reflectors. I've also sprayed the silver brackets in gloss black to match the bikes black wheels etc, probably the only real change I want to do is ditch the heavy exhausts although they do sound good. Keep up the good work and I've now subscribed to follow your journey with the Epic Interceptor.

    The blue looks fantastic, and I like the dash.. Im a bit of a wierdo when it comes to gauges, they have to be cool..its very important to me, because thats what Im gonna be seeing 99% of the time when im riding.
    I wholeheartedly concur with you with smaller bikes being just as capable as the bigger CC ones. Itchyboots currently is on a CRF300 and traveling to Alaska from South America, absolute madness, but shes an utter badass. Personally I only have a bigger bike to maintain highway speeds. Where I live in Texas, if you cannot go 90+ you will die.

    Well done on your new purchase, The 650 Royal Enfield Interceptor is a brilliant bike. I own a 2019 model. I have a few other bikes and still love it. I put a set of Hooligan cans on mine with a K&N high flow air filter and a booster plug. Its a true Tonup bike and with the 270 degree firing order and also the Slipper clutch, Fuel injected, Air cooled twin like you said with ABS you have a lot of bike for little money. New parts are cheap on ebay and also service equipment but shop around on there.

      Hitchcocks Relays are twice the amps & bike starts stronger & idled better.Defintley worth it as the R.E relays are shite & only £8 each.Also a sump guard from R.E to protect the oil filter & a better oil cooler guard.I recommend the Enfield Precision Oil cooler guard as it wraps around the sides & is the only oil cooler guard that has air vents around the sides for better cooling.Other oil cooler guards don't have air vents on the sides.Also a Enfield Precision Chain guard both from Hitchcocks have your bike protected from flying stones which I can assure does happen as a stone cracked my headlight so be getting a headlight grill from Hitchcocks too & have to replace headlight.

    Me and my brother just started to ride this year.... I got a MT-03 because all the positive reviews and how good it is for new riders... My brother got the Royal Enfield int650 because he is a bigger guy and the reviews are also positive..... I have to say my MT-03 is a good bike and is quick and fun... but it is not nearly as good as his Int650... As good as the MT-03 is his bike is just more comfortable, just as easy to learn, very very smooth on the highway and can cruise easily at 80+ mph.. The Mt-03 just does not feel as safe going over 70 and after about an hour of riding your butt starts to hurt....I will be most likely getting a INT650 maybe tomorrow! I just enjoy how the INT650 rides and how cheap it is for what it is..... Also the Royal Enfield bikes are so cheap because they only have like 3 engine models a 350cc, 411cc, and 650cc. And to be honest for the market they are after they do not need anything else.... The 650cc engine they have is not as powerful as other 650cc engines because it is air/oil cooled... And after riding it, it pulls fine and the 47hp it has is plenty for 99% of driving even on long trips... Can't wait to get one.

    The "touring" seat upgrade is inexpensive and the version II shipping now is a decent seat (I prefer the GT touring II on my interceptor). A Hepco & Becker pillion peg relocator is inexpensive and helps de-pretzel the pillion legs (they left them there from the GT's rear sets). Grip Puppies make a big comfort for little outlay buy.

    I'm not sure if I could cope with a spoked bike, as my cleaning schedule is basically wash down if it gets filthy but don't touch otherwise. I struggle to find time to ride so I'm worried it would never get taken out, especially as I have several bigger bikes and invariably ride with a 5ft 10 though slender pillion, which means a bmw boxer is much more suited. There is one downside to the Interceptor - no matter where you pull up on it, you WILL get people walking over to you to talk about it. It's crazy! Even non-bike people of the older generation that can remember Royal Enfields from way back. I've lost count how many times I've come back to mine when I'm out and someone has been standing there looking at it. It's not really a downside though, I love talking about mine.
    I've had my Canyon Red Interceptor a year and two days now, and it still makes me smile every time I go out on it.
    The only thing I've changed is the end cans, I put the Scorpion Red Power slip-ons on mine and it sounds LOVELY. With baffles removed it sounds monstrous, but it's a little too loud for me on a longer run to be honest, so I usually ride it with the baffles in, but they still give a lovely sound.
