Hi I'm Robbie, welcome to my channel! My videos are for anyone looking to add to their musical knowledge and to develop their ability to improvise. I've gathered some pretty cool concepts throughout my journey of becoming a professional musician and I'm excited to share my musical findings with you ...this is also an excuse for me to dig out my pile of notes and develop these concepts further! Thanks for stopping by.

We ranked him worlds best Instructor, because he is perhaps one of the worlds best guitarist, well done Sir.
Excuse me, a question: How to add color to sheet music and tablature?😮
Sounds nice but what are the intervals? Like minor pent with a 13 instead of a seventh to preserve the tritone?
More important that you notice all the chords are #11. I think that’s the ticket
The Coltrane Pentatonic = R, 2, b3, 5, 6. Pentatonic scales are great for a number of reasons, such as already being very musical and less 'scale' sounding due to the nature of only being five notes. Pentatonics are also often easier to use, as the two missing notes (which make a seven note scale into a five note pentatonic) avoid certain harmonic decisions that need to be made. However, the standard Minor/Major Pentatonic is often limited to/works best for modes coming from the Major parent scale. The Coltrane Pentatonic is a structure that works for both the Major parent scale/its modes (from the Dorian perspective) and also the Melodic Minor parent scale/its modes. Hence why I like to give it the funny nickname 'the scale to rule them all'. A lot of these chords are Lydian sounds such as EMaj7#11. This is coming from the B Major parent scale and the Dorian mode found within that scale is C# Dorian. Therefore we use the C# Coltrane Pentatonic. Hope that helps for now. I have a PDF study over on my Patreon page if you'd like to learn more. Thanks for watching!
