I remember watching this live with my brother. After the speech, I had a weird feeling and said, "Wow. I really think this guy may win the nomination. And probably the presidency." And my brother responded, "Are you kidding me? A black guy will never win." 10 months later, needless to say, he was eating crow.
I remember this speech. I was crying and even my boyfriend at the time cried a couple tears. I said “That was a great speech! Someone who gives a speech like that is who we need to win the general election!” So we went to the computer and sent him some money. He is so charismatic. He made a few mistakes, like he should have declared the Flint, Michigan water crisis a national emergency, and sent in crews to replace all the pipes. That would be an infrastructure project that created jobs too. Instead he drank the water, and everyone’s heart sank. But he did so much good in office. He really made America a better place in many ways. For example, if you talk to a dreamer, you will immediately see that of course this person is American! Of course they deserve to stay forever.
This moment in history was amazing in and of itself. To think that we have come from this speech to actually winning the election is still overwhelming.
I was there also. I was an excited 18-year-old who had heard his 2004 DNC speech and wanted to see this man be president. We have come so far. I am so proud of us. So proud. Let's bring it home!
Who is here after reading this passage in the "Promised Land"?
Reading becoming, had to come and look at the hats 😁.
Becoming Michelle brought me here.

I’m I the only one not here from “Becoming”? Lol
Page 81 of “A Promised Land” brought me here. So powerful and so emotional.

He was just 46 year old.
“We’ve been told climate change is a hoax” That was a prophetic saying Mr. President. We are still hopeful for a better future after the current mess.
Am addicted to his speeches..I burn my bundles just to capture his speech, I remember this time I was in Embakasi, Nairobi, Kenya🇰🇪
Watching in 2020 I miss the good days when we had an intelligent and handsome POTUS
I just went to his talk in Singapore "Conversations with Barack Obama". A remarkable Human Being.
