A new guy was hired at a huge metal smelting factory. His job was to clean the inside of the huge walk in furnace, as some kind of sick joke the other guys turned on the 1 min warning and closed the door on him. The poor guy thought he had 1 min left to live and had a mental break down. That was 24 yrs ago and the company still pay the guy. Hes never had to work since. The 3 guys were fired and even taken to court.

It always pisses me off when that happens these days. I work at a rent to own furniture store (think a place like rent a center or aaron's but we're a local place.), there's 4 of us, and ffs. I have issues with 2 of them (one is constantly an hour+ late to work, and that's if she comes in. The other is just an asshole). The asshole is the guy who helps me when a delivery is 2 person, and there was a saturday with 5 two person stops scheduled for delivery.... he called in because, and I quote "A friend of mine committed suicide last night. We haven't talked since middleschool but it just really got to me." The people that were attractive (ya know, thin, good complexion) worked the front, and they had the more unattractive team members doing stuff in the back of the store. (for example, I was kept in the back as a dish washer // food prepper. And I noticed from my time there that anybody who wasn't an attractive person was kept working jobs in the back of the store or as clean up.)
anyways, i say all that cause I have a feeling that dish washer was probably a pretty unattractive dude since he worked back of shop. XD

My brother has turned getting fired into a sport. Here are some highlights:
    - Fired from GNC after stealing protein jugs right off the shelves and taking them home. They were on to him when the manager found a protein bar wrapper floating in the toilet.
    - Fired from the local Shopko after forgetting his belt at home. His pants kept falling down, so he simply grabbed one off the rack, took the tag off, and put it on.
    - Fired from the local grocery store after a mild correction by his manager. He dropped a yogurt, and the manager said, "Watch what you're doing." Brother: "You can't f$%@ing talk to me that way!" Fired on the spot.
    - Fired from a lumber mill after wanting to fight the guy who saved his life. He was operating some kind of saw while spacing off, coworker saw he was just about to lose a hand and yanked him out of the way just in time. Brother thought this "made him look bad," so invited the guy out into the parking lot. Gone.
    - Fired for lipping off to the then-governor of our state, who happened to be touring the factory my brother worked at. He walked up to my brother's lunch table, and my brother mock-snatched his food away, saying, "Don't even think about it!" (Governor was extremely overweight). They didn't let my brother finish his lunch.
    - Fired from the local gym after telling his female manager that the reason she was so crabby was because she hadn't been laid in five years.
    - Fired from the local J.C. Penny's for swearing at customers on Black Friday. He volunteered to wear a reindeer costume, not knowing it was about three sizes too small. When the doors opened at 6 a.m., he had about a foot of bare leg sticking out from the bottoms of the reindeer feet. About 50 people pointed and laughed. My brother started swearing and offering to fight them. By 6:02, he was jobless.
I'm sure there are more that I can't think of right now . . .

I was at a Burger King once, it was late, and I was the only customer in the place. There were two teenagers behind the counter talking to each other. It took them over a minute to realize I was there and that maybe they should ask me what I want. After my order was in the window they continued their bullshit session without picking up the order. I said to one of the guys "My order is ready". He looks at me but continues to talk to his buddy and slowly reaches behind him, grabs the box, and tosses it on the counter where it slid over to me. I had never seen anything like this in my life. These two douche bags were still leaning against the wall, with their hands in their pockets, talking about a party they had been to. I motioned to the manager and when he came over I explained what happened, that I didn't need this shit, I wanted my money back and I'll never eat there again. I'm walking to my car and I see through the window that the two guys were following the manager into the back of the store. I hope they were fired.
You're getting paid to serve customers, not ignore them or treat them rudely. Do your job and do it correctly. You can't stand your job? so quit. Find something you'd rather do, but do it as well as you can because you're getting paid to do it. Without customers you wouldn't have a job, so treat them well.

When they investigated they found a pile of human waste in the corner. The office had bathrooms to use if the person asked. That is why the position of a receptionist was created to begin with, to take that burden off the rest of the staff who are engaged in other duties and can't always step aside to do that. It isn't like reception is a new position in the world. I'd say it is probably one of the oldest.

Manager of a Pizza Place. . . employees got a generous discount, even on days not scheduled, so it wasn't uncommon that they'd order on days off. One of the male, teen-aged "counter kids" calls on his day off & call is given to me, as a Mgr. needed to take employee orders.
I pick up & say, "Hey, (counter kid), what's up? What can I get you?" While, obviously flanked by a number of his friends (heard in the background, being rowdy), answers with, "(Mgr.!) How the f*ck are ya!?". . . Hung up on him instantly & went back to what I was doing before coming up front.
Less than a minute later, I'm requested back to the phones because (counter kid) has called back. I pick up j just say, "Hello?"
"Hello (Mr. Mgr.), this is (counter kid). I'd like to place an order for pick-up."
"Sure. Go ahead.", I respond. "As long as YOU are the one coming to pick it up."
When he arrive for his order, I let him know that he needn't bother to return, as by then I had already gotten his shifts covered. He asked, "How long will that be for?"
"From now on. This was your last discounted order & you're fired."
I will not take the chance of a teen-aged employeebb, having too little impulse control, in a position that is possibly the only contact a customer will ever have with my operation. On the clock or not, THAT was unacceptable. Best part. . . his Dad, upon inquiring how his son ended up being fired on his day off, turned around and grounded him as well.

      @Alino- Před 3 lety

I bet that taught the kid a good lesson. You don't talk to your coworkers / management like they're your buddies, whether on the clock or not. Granted I can't even imagine talking like that to my friends either... and I don't think I'm out of touch with young people (I mean I'm 21 so I would hope I'm still in sync with young people.)
And if i remember..... I haven't worked much for fast food / etcetera, but in my small experience in that line of work, discounts are meant EXCLUSIVELY for the employees right? not for friends/family/etcetera?

Not a manager but some 16 year old kid from water park I worked at would steal beer and then throw the empty cans down the water slide he was supposed to be monitoring. Fired instantly. No one liked him because he would only complain about the same jobs we all had to do.

Whilst working at Waitrose as a delivery driver, a colleague was suspended, though KEPT his job when he was caught smoking spice. Why? Because at the time it was 100% legal and Waitrose found themselves in a grey area with that one. 😁😛

They can but they also have to slow down slightly to give drivers a chance to hear the sirens and see the lights. The story seems to imply that the ambulance driver sped straight through.

Plant lady at lowes here and I had to train a guy on watering plants (just telling him the sun plants basically needed water constantly) and my guy was PLASTERED. I tell him to get his sht together and to grab some water and chips from the gas station and sober up real fast. Find him around the back an hour later with 2 empty beer cans on the ground and a half empty one in his hand, sitting down bc he can’t stand.

I wasn't the manager at the time but I was working and this guy that liked to talk to himself about how great he was at his job showed up 15 minutes late, as usual. The DM was there because we needed someone to open and our managers were already at OT.
Anyways the guy was asked by the DM to prep fry portions and he decided that he didn't have to because we had enough. After the DM said we can always do more because fries don't go bad fast and we use them quickly he simply grabbed his jacket and left.
After that the DM literally walked up to me and asked, "Did I forget about telling him to go or did he walk out?"
This guy was such an embarrassing person that I'm surprised that he wasn't fired earlier. He just sucked at everything job related and his personality wasn't much to back him up.
The guy only got the job because he knew the manager and told him that he was going to be homeless or something if he didn't get a job. That was a lie as his gf worked a fulltime job to pay for all the bills and everything for their kid, he got a job to work 15 hours a week because she wouldn't buy him weed. And to top it off he was a misogynist who always talked about how women should "know their place", which I find it difficult how he formed this opinion while living in a home payed fully for by his gf. Any conversation with him always got shifted towards what he wanted to talk about and I'm 90% sure he would call customers slurs under his breath, especially female or minority customers.
Honestly I am hoping his gf breaks up with him, from what I could tell she was only with him because she wanted her daughter to have a father but with a father like that I'm sure you could find a better roll model almost anywhere.

So I was a manager back at Burger King in 2012 and I had an employee who posted a picture of his feet in our tub of lettuce which we use for the burgers, originally, we didn’t know he did that until it got huge online and became a widespread meme. Some people indeed might have eaten that foot lettuce. And yes, he did have foot fungus which was even worse. We fired him, but before we did, we made him eat that entire tub of lettuce only using his toes as his utensil.

That one around the 14:00 mark about the IT guy that just plain sloppy work on the part of the employer. You revoke their access THEN fire them. Don't tell them first that's a recipe to get fucked over and frankly rightfully so, not saying being a vigilante is right but most people are going to want to get a little revenge somehow if they are being fired and someone with IT power is the worst person to piss off in a corporation that uses servers.
