Just wanted to say their clothing line success didn’t start with a white t-shirt in 2006. It started back when they launched their first clothing line for tweens with Walmart. They slowly and steadily built up their quality, branding, and reputation within the fashion industry over the years.

I like how they didn’t think they had to keep going in acting or the entertainment industry and chose something else. They are not fame obsessed. The clothes are beautiful and personally I am into minimalism & minimalist fashion, so I would not mind getting a piece or two as an investment. But I never buy anything without careful consideration. Gave up fast fashion years ago.

I’m a minimalist too and now it’s expanding into my wardrobe. I cleaned out my closet to start over. I love Mary Kate and Ashley, they have the passion for this and I am glad they didn’t go back to acting. The Row has beautiful pieces and I love the quality. It’s nice to hear they didn’t want to be the face of the brand. That’s probably why it’s so successful! When celebrities out their names and face to a brand, it cheapens it.

I have worked in couture most of my life and in my last job I created a luxury ready to wear department for a well known person. One of the things I insisted on was the best fabric so in the beginning as the brand was new I sourced the stock from famous brands for a fraction of the initial price and when the shareholders came to the first collection and touched the garments they asked me how I could make something such beautiful quality fabric. I always say that each fabric will 'tell' you what it wants to be and it is easier in the long run to go with the desire of the fabric, a shirt or a coat or dress. I have worked with designers who didn't care to listen and it never ended well.

Not really those huge clothes swallow them up and make them disappear. There’s a reason models have to be tall and I wish people would stop trying to break the standards just cause they don’t fit them themselves. You don’t see tall girls revolting that they don’t get to be in gymnastics cause the standard is to be tiny lol funny is most of the people that say this claim to be feminist yet foam stuff the mouth whenever another woman has something she can’t have.

I’ve been intrigued by these women for a rather long time. The mystique is so key to what the produce and how they live. When they were very young and had moved on from the TV show they starred in (in shifts being so young., an aside, my dad loved that show and ‘them’, so I watched it a lot), anyway, they had a clothing brand. Back in the day, way back in the day, in a land far, far away, I was very petite in height (4”11’) and size. I wore several of the their pieces, mostly trousers, as I could never find anything to fit me. (Oh, how I wish I could still shop in the kids section 😢😂😂. To end, I love their aesthetic. My father was a tailor and I grew up in the family shop being trained by him. They are spot on that fabric and cut is everything.

I think the brand stands out in America for its old money luxury. There's is no "perfect" t shirt, as everyone body type and shape is different. Sure you can charge a lot for a t-shirt as a way to "position" yourself in the market by getting people to talk about it (like I am right now), but if you step aside the rest of the world, The Row is not that much special (at least for men) there are better designers in Europe and Japan who has been doing luxury for decades and they are brands where fashion geeks adore that you won't find in normal department stores. A quick search on style forum can tell you no one talks about The Row - this is a clear indication it is still "fashion" over style

    • @Just999Me

i agree, it has more to do with exclusivity, luxury and old money aesthetics & ideals. it's epitomized through their old money motto of "if you know, you know". the mystique, mystery and shrouded in behind the scenes knowledge is what the privileged and elite gravitate towards because they want that clear divide between them and the general poor population.
