    Great work! I just love 740's squareness. For myself I daily drive 940. Since I came from land of Hyundai Kia (S.Korea), these cars are harder to see than Ferraris over here! Less than 1400 examples were imported over here back in 90s and less than 100 cars survives today. Hands up to the owner's steel wheel and roof rack mods. Looks super cool!

      Kinda cool that you managed to get one then 😁 who could ever have thought that a volvo can be unique

    love my 740 GL over here in the US, 300k miles and counting, surprising features list, mine has heated seats in 1990- the '92 Cadillac I daily these days since i started modifying the Volvo doesn't have those!

      i don't recall seeing one without heated seats here in russia, where 99% of old volvos were either brought over from europe, or bought new here.

    Had one of these 740 GL's....leather package, electric windows and the electric sunroof...nice all round.....loved the boxiness, the comfort, and tank like qualities..as usual, you could drive if for hours in total comfort....Hated : the gutless performance...going up a hill was embarrassing sometimes...and the roof liner hanging down did detract from the internal ambiance. When I traded it, why I will never understand....it was mechanically on point...Volvo, always.....keep yer Bimmers, Mercedes, and Audi....enjoyed the filming, really showed the shape....all that is seen by Volvo lovers...yet it is still a box with a square end and a pointy sloped front...

      You are spot on, these Volvo's have a vibe that you don't get from many cars.

    I have a 740 gl here in Canada. It has 235000km and is a great car. I have owned for a year and no troubles what so ever. Will s90 hold up after 31 years, doubt it especially with all the electronics and very minimal rust.

      Couldnt agree more. They stopped building cars like the 740 a long time ago

      I also own a 740 GL and live in Canada. It is a '90 model and has over 442,000 kms. and is still a great car. I have owned it for almost 22 years with no engine, transmission or rear end issues. It still looks and runs like the day I bought it.

    The 12.1 seconds you mention from 0 to 60 is the carb. version with 115 hp, the 130hp does it in 10.5 seconds I believe.

    • @zloychechen5150
      @zloychechen5150 Před rokem

      230fb with 131hp does it in 11,2, i think this one has the 230f, so 12,1 sounds about right.

    How is the 740 on the roads in NL? I have a 1990 740 GL in Canada, excellent for snow fun.

      Not a bad car for snowy roads. Good, predictable handling makes it a very safe car on snowy/slippery roads. I just wish mine had the limited slip differential for getting me out of snowy driveways.

    • @andersheemskerk5572
      @andersheemskerk5572 Před 2 lety

      Im not sure if mine has a limited slip differential, how do i figure that out?

    • @bobjohnson205
      @bobjohnson205 Před 2 lety

      @@andersheemskerk5572 There's lots of ways. If you don't feel like crawling under the car to check the differential code label, etc. or jacking it up and doing the try to turn the wheel method just park on some ice and if just one wheel turns and slips on the ice while the other doesn't turn and just sits there than you do not have the LSD.
