- The 4-time formats used in aviation are:
• Local Mean Time (LMT) - The time, as determined by the Mean Sun, at an observer’s local meridian.
• Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) - The mean solar time of the longitude (0°) of the Royal Greenwich Observatory in England
• Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) - The Mean solar time of the longitude (0°), kept using Atomic Clock
• Standard Time (ST) - The official time in a local region adjusted for location around the earth, established by law or custom

Hi I would like to ask regarding your True Altitude video, is it applicable For Altimetry Meteorology Questions?
@@kavinraj6613 Yes. You just need to change the second part of the equation and value of 1 hPa.
For General Navigation the equation is
True Altitude = Indicated Altitude ± (4 * Alt/1000 * ISA Dev)
Alt = IA - Airfield Elevation
value of 1 hPa = 30ft (Unless specified by the question to use 1 hPa =27ft)
For Meteorology
True Altitude = Indicated Altitude ± (4 * Indicated Altitude/1000 * ISA Dev)
value of 1 hPa = 27ft (Unless specified by the question to use 1 hPa =30ft)
@@AnsweringATPL Thanks this really helps me alot 😊

Answering ATPL is definitely a leader in exam preparation!!! The content of this video is Excellent & it added a lot of value to my studies. I am Super Thrilled to have found this videos...
Glad it was helpful!
Nothing but complements. Clear. Concise. Progressive. Well demonstrated. Good visuals. Good voice. Good pace. I’ve subscribed. Thank you for your help. Keep em coming :-)
Thanks and welcome
Great videos! Very clear explanation 👍🏻and it is actually SO Nice to have an idea why the heck u need to convert LMT into UTC and then back to ST 😁 Thanks a lot ✊
Glad it was helpful!
Love the way you are explaining things step by step and in detail!
You have been the most beautiful discovery on CZcams! Easy and very clear explanation, and great english! Thank you!
Thank you for your kind word
Thanks from an ATPL student. Very clear and helpful!
Usually youtube guide sucks. Yours is surprisingly helpful to simplify things.
Glad you like it
You are a STAR!!!! I was struggling with understanding this, you gave me light!
Very nice way how you show us Mean sun and LMT meaning!
Thank you very much for this video. I've spent hours to understand this concept and it seems to be clearing up a bit now. :)
I actually didn't know about the degree, minutes and second function shown at 14:40. This saves me so much time than re-calculating hours to minutes etc.
Glad it helps. Thank you for your kind comments
Make it two ✌️😁 a real time saver...symbolic, isn’t it? I got a way to save time from learning about time ))
thanks!
This was the most helpful explanation ever
Glad it helps
This help me a lot on my PPL Nav exam preparation. The way you using Casio to calculate time, was new for me ;) Thank you for this video.
Glad it was helpful!
Damn! your explanation for the relationship between LMT and UTC is very clear! nice
Glad it helps

@@AnsweringATPL Gnav is the last subject left to finish atpl theory but i am really confused.is the hardest so far,at least for me. Do you suggest a method to make it clear to my head ?
@@argydimitrelis611 The hard part for general navigation is the earth and chart, the rest is not that hard. The reason why this section is hard because it is 3 dimensional. I also have the same problem when I first study this subject. Try to use a ball or something spherical to help you imagine the situation. Or better still get a globe to help you visualize it. That is how I study general navigation. I hope this tip will help you.
You also need to be proficient in using CRP 5 or other types of flight computer.
@@AnsweringATPL thank you very much !

Thank you so much for these videos they are very helpful. Can you do a video on basic DR Navigation?
I will, but I can't promise when. I'll try my best to do it in near future

As always great job, I can hear that you are working on your pronunciation, because it is getting better with each episode.
Thank you
@@AnsweringATPL If it is the case your working on your pronunciation - great. At the same time its us the audiences job to attune our ears to your accent. I can understand clearly what you're saying, and I prefer your voice than the automated voice you had used at one time in your videos.

We always have utc time on gps can use it as GMT and by using longitude can add or subtract hrs??
Technically GMT and UTC is different due to their definition. However, the time is the same, so yes you can use UTC from your GPS as GMT.
in the last excrcise i think you shold have done the Dlong to the EAST plus the Dlong to the WEST then /15 and found the LMT at KL
Hey man, this video was great, as always, but could you have a look and confirm if the question #51757 on Aviation Exam is correct, please? It is really confusing, because the Question is asking for the SR in Singapore in ST by telling us the SR in ST at the Maldives. I dont understand in this particular question why we have to calculate the ST by using the change in longitude.
Hi, could you please paste the question here, my subscription to AE has expired.
You can also watch this video czcams.com/video/J3QV6dJBdRA/video.html. It explain SR and SS in details
@@AnsweringATPL The sun rises at the Maldives (73° 32' E) at 7:20 am (ST). At what time (ST) will the sun rise in Singapore (103° 51' E)?
(Maldives: ST= UTC + 5, Singapore: ST = UTC + 8)
A 0819
B 1221
C 1619
D 0621
Btw I watch all your videos! They are amazing and of great help!
@@viniciusmacielcosta5118 There are 2 concepts applied in this question.
1. At the same latitude, SR occur at the same LMT
2. Changes in SR time is more significant at higher latitude compared to lower latitude.
Since both Maldives(3°N) and Singapore(1°N) are located near the equator, we can assume the SR time at both locations occur at the same LMT.
MALDIVES
ST = 0720
Convert ST to UTC (UTC is LMT at the Prime Meridian)
ST = UTC + 5
0720 = UTC + 0500
UTC = 0220
Since Maldives is to the East of Prime Meridian(PM), LMT at Maldives is greater than LMT at PM.
LMT = 0220 + (73°32' ÷ 15°)
LMT = 0714
--------------------------------------------------------
SINGAPORE
Based on our assumption, SR time in Maldives in LMT is the same as SR time in LMT in Singapore.
SR = 0714
Convert LMT to UTC. Singapore is to the East of PM.
LMT = UTC + TC
0714 = UTC + (103°51' ÷ 15°)
UTC = 0019
Convert UTC to ST
ST = UTC + 8
ST = 0019 + 0800
ST = 0819

mcm biasa...good job
Thank you
I love your videos man. Very good explanations from you and the videos helped me a lot. But in this video, at 09:25 I think there is a mistake with the dates. M should be 15/05 as well as Z and Y should be 14/06 21:00.
Is standard time also known as zone time?
Standard time is dictated by the government. It does not follow the mean sun convention. The standard time zone considers political, economic, and other value deem necessary by the government. The Time zone is based on the mean sun and starts at Greenwich meridian, expanding every 15 degrees. Some country standard time is similar to its time zone, and some country is not.
J'ai utilisé la première technique et mon LMT normal donne -1418 cela égalerais quelle heure, si il y a un moin devant le nombre
I am sorry. Could you please restate the comment in English please. Thank you
