  • Originally made in early 2016, here is another 'cheat', a much shortened down version. Have used the most useful clips out of about 60, which also gets rid of a lot of waffle! - most aspects have been shortened and/or speeded up, with voice over to try and explain the process.

    It's nice to see you. Yep, our weather has been very hot. That's a nice project. Tractor pulls with real, everyday tractors- how neat! Your grandson is a cute litter feller. As my wife just said, his grandmother is into crochet work. He has a nice sweater.

    Chris, I have a small mill very similar to yours and I've been cursing if for not having a depth stop. I truly need to make one of those for mine...one more thing to keep me from running over to the drill press..although it is only one giant step! I want to make knives with "hidden pins" for the handles..just pins that don't protrude through the handle material, and this would be perfect for that! Wonderful shots of the outing..I love a good truck and tractor pull, and absolutely priceless shots of your grandson! Thanks for sharing, Chris. It is always a high point of my day to see an upload from you, my friend! :-)

      @ChrisB257  Před 5 lety +1

      Hey Dale,
      Well - take a break from knives sometime and make yourself one! :)
      It was a challenge going through the approx 60 clips to make this very condensed video but at least it cut out much of my excessive waffle in the full version! Little Oliver is a star - though as time goes on he gets ever more ambitious and so we need eyes in the back of our heads - typical of a budding rebel LOL . ATB :)

    A really nice and useful project, and the tractor pulling was very entertaining, a lot of time and effort goes into making these tractors, there is one local to me with a Rolls Royce Griffon engine, that sounds really nice on full chat. Enjoy the summer, we have already dropped to 35 deg (C)!

      @ChrisB257  Před 5 lety

      Hi Chris,
      "Dropped to 35''! That's still plenty hot enough! Can imagine the sound of Griffon - always enjoyed the big engines - Allisons and some large radials too. At the event I managed to get a position to be able to sit and so avoided much standing. ATB. :)

    Great job on the quill stop. I wonder if the folks doing the tractor pull are loosing horsepower with all that rich fuel mixture.

    • @ChrisB257
      @ChrisB257  Před 5 lety

      Hi Harold. Thanks. In fact the apparent rich mixture is pretty much the result of turbo help getting more fuel in - so extra horsepower. Smoke is pretty messy though! Take care. :)

      Hi Dave,
      I did work up some stuff using Inventor but didn't bother with dimensioning or going to a 2D dwg. if you can extrapolate in 360 that could be very useful.

    • @ChrisB257
      @ChrisB257  Před 3 lety

      Hi David,
      Afraid no drawings available and haven't really the time right now to draw something up. In essence all you have to do if following my basic approach, is to take relevant dimensions from your machine to apply to the parts needed. Pause the video here and there and maybe take image grabs for referring to later.
      For instance, measure your quill diameter for the fit of the extension 'arm' - most dimensions are not really all that critical. I admit, I did make my set-up more or less "on-the-fly" without making dimensioned drawings.
