WOW Gaynor!!!! Look at you blowing away the landscapes! It seems not that long ago I watched the video of you assessing your photos of what you were drawn to and now you're bringing them to life in an incredible way. I absolutely LOVED what you did in the Concertina with collage and paint. Additionally, your guidance on going back through sketchbooks has inspired me. I only have a few. When I go back through them there are those pages that collected stray paint or are simply awful in my opinion; yet now I'm inspired to pull out the collage papers and give them another go. I'm gushing here - it's early morning where I live and to find a new post and to get to spend time with you over my coffee is a true gift and such a great way to start the day. Be well!😁

I do not do collage very much, I have experimented with using toole, and other printed fabrics. I have cut pieces into shapes and adhered them to the paper in the shape of my favorite animal the horse! It was a shock how well it came out! I painted over it with acrylic. The texture was amazing. I certainly will collage again.

I enjoyed seeing your collage work Gaynor. I really liked the bag of hand drawn and painted figures that you add to your collages - I may try this myself! You made me laugh when as you was going through your collages you said 'this one - yes - crazy face' but you didn't elaborate further! Thank you for the tip about glazes and the fact that you can re-paint over a glaze. Hope you have a lovely week ahead. x

When you do collage as part of your painting process, do you worry about the effect on archival quality of your finished work? Magazine paper (probably not acid free), glue (also probably not archival), and other materials that may impact the longevity of your work... I am not so worried about sketch books but I try to get into a habit of using archival materials and processes so I am practicing what I can then use in my paintings without worrying.
By the time your paper is cracking and your paints are old plastics (I’m referring to acrylics) 100 years have gone by … who will be handling your work as if it is precious?
