I almost spent money on buying a pattern that included the thread bag design. I made my thread bag in 90 minutes,. Thank you so much for your tutorial. I'm going to make more as gifts.
Those are the CUTEST scrap bags!!!đ€
Thanks sisâ€ïž
I do need a couple of these thank you so much greetings from Sweden
Thank you for watching Giselađ
Very cute! I might put some interfacing on the back of the fat quarter to help it stand up a little straighter.
I should have mentioned that it is meant to hang not to standđ€·đ»ââïž But that being said....absolutely add interfacing or quilt foam to make it stand upâ
Tracy, this is a wonderful beginner friendly sewing project for us new to the sewing world, thank you so muchđ
Always sneaking lmportment clues hint on box cut. Great tute
Always Linda!đ
I am a seasoned sewer. But I have to admit I watched your video from beginning to end.
It was wonderful.
So I passed the link to my daughter that has never sewed a thing ever, to practice following directions.
She made it and did a good job.
She made a second one, (because she felt the first one wasnât quite neat enough,) and the second looked like it was done by a professional. Thank you so much I actually enjoyed watching it from beginning to end as well.
Have a beautiful dayđšđŠ
Wow, thank you Kathleenđ
Adorable! Iâm going to make a few.
My favorite: If you are in love with hand stitching... good for you. Hahaha. đ đ€Ł Tracy is my spirit animal!

Love this cute little bag so much am heading to the sewing studio to make one as a gift for my neighbour. I had a good chuckle over the line, "if you like to hand sew, good for you." You expressed my sentiments exactly. Thanks so much for the tutorial Tracy

You're welcome Joyđ I love useful thingsâ
Love all you videos .. you give me so much inspiration.. thank you đ đđ€ from organising my stash to the tread catcher ..
Yay, thank you!đ
I'm a intermediate beginner sewist who's been using an old cracker tin for my threads & fabric scraps.
It's good but awkward to move around without tipping over.
I love your tutorial on this adorable thread/scrap fabric catcher!!!
I've got just the fabric & matching 6 inch hoop to make one!!!
Thank you!!!
HI Tracy, Such a cute idea! đĄ And my Mother taught me to press that seam allowance before turning, makes it so much nicer when sewn closed. Thanks
I totally agree with your motherâ đ
Great tutorial on such a cute project. Iâll have to make a few on these & a bonus is I have all the items needed. Thanks Tracy!â€ïž
You definitely will have to make these Michelle...quick and easyâ

Youâre welcome đenjoyđ

Great idea I love it.

That is so cute Tracy and love the colors...going to make a few of those, for me and my friends...thank you, for another great idea
You are so welcome Donnađ
This is so beautiful, when I saw the embroidery hoop I thought of an older lady friend of mine who loves embroidery. This also makes for a good idea to keep all the cotton colours close by when busy with her embroidery. Wonderful! Thank you...
You are so welcome Bonnyđ
What a clever idea! Your fabric was beautiful. This looks so easy and it will be very useful. Thanks.
I love sewing useful projects...đ

Thank you Virginiađ It really is easy tooâ
Another fabulous idea!!!! Love how the hoops keep it open and no raw edges inside the bag!! Thanks, Tracy! HUUUUUGGGGSSS!!đčđčđčđč
Thanks so much đ
Thank you Tracy, this is so clever, well done
Thank you so muchđ
A great ideaâŠdoing the lining and outside at the same time! I like it!
Thank you sherryđ
This is adorable. I am going to have to make several of these for gifts. Too cute and you know I love those wooden hoops.
They are very useable...l hung mine on the wall close to my sewing machine...perfect for pesky threadsâ
Brilliant! Wow! Love that! Thank you! Everyone in the family is getting these as gifts now
Oh this would make great sewing gifts for anyoneâ great idea!!
Thanks!
Youâre welcome Rhonda!!đ
Thank you for the tutorial. I really enjoyed making it!
So happy you were able to follow along and have a great outcome!!!đ
I really like this project and will be giving it a go if I can find some hoops! Just an FYI, heat doesn't really erase this ink. Test it by putting the marked and ironed fabric in the freezer. The marks come back with cold, so be careful where you mark.
Oh wow...thank you for the ink tip...that's not good if the ink comes backđ±
Love this bag. Great for a catch all.
Thank you for watching Thomasđ
@@TheSewingChannel Somehow my husband's name has gotten on my account it's still Angela here.

The material you used is so beautiful. I love the bag. A catch for the mess. Cause i hate cleaning it up.
I agree about the fabric Donna....â€I LOVE it! I wish I had more of it...I only have one piece left(smaller than a fat quarter)!
Just found your channel. Iâm a beginner sewer & I love your detailed instructions & how you mark your fabric. Going to make this for sure! Thank you so much đ

Hello, of course I am only 2yrs behindđ, but just ran across your video. I know you said you bought your material at Joannâ a d it is beautiful! What is the company/manufacturerâs name please? I love watching you. God Bless and Happy Motherâs Day 2024!
â€
That is a great idea. I love the fabric you used. We made some of these years ago. However, we used recycled plastic rings cut from gallon vinegar jugs to hold our's open. Your's was a lot quicker to make.
Oh jar lids would be a great idea if you didnât have a hoopâ thanks for sharing Arvetta đ
My wheelchair technician has a fit about the threads caught in my wheels. I throw threads on the floor because i kept running over the trash bin next to the sewing table. I hope this pattern helps đ
oh those pesky threads!
I just came across a wooden hoop today while cleaning. Guess what i am gonna do!
Oh Yes! LOL....What a lucky find for sure...!!!đ
I like this idea, but it would have been nice to see how you hang it near your machine.
I hang it on the wall right next to my machine. I use a 3m hookâ
@@TheSewingChannel That makes sense!
I noticed youâre using a small ironing pad if you have tutorials on that I would love to see one.
Here is the tutorial on that cute ironing boardâ czcams.com/video/tiJL2piQl84/video.html
Tracy, what a cool idea! Love it! I think I will make one. I already have a whole bunch of hoops somewhere, just need to find them. But tell me, where are you hooking it on to?
Hi Jeanie...I'm hanging it on my wall (with a 3M hook) right next to my sewing roomâ
@@TheSewingChannel OK tHANKS!
OK so I donât want to use the embroidery hoops I was wondering if I could bypass that step and where the inside hoop would have been, so or topstitch may be a quarter inch from the edge and give it some structure? You know me Tracy Iâm always combining multiple videos into one. Also I need it to be flush against my cutting table so having the ring would prevent that
Or figure out where that hoop would be inside and fuse some stabilizer or interfacing instead
My life is never simpleđ đđ€Łđđ€Șđ
LOL I have the same thought processes as well LOLđ
I was thinking to give it stability...to stand on its own you could add fusible fleece to fabric or better yet you could use fusible 1/4" foam. The foam would totally do it.â
For the flush part.....I was going to a 3M "hinged hook" sort of under the ledge of table....might workđ€·đ»ââïž
@@TheSewingChannel I think I did buy some fusible foam. Would have to somehow figure out where to fuse the foam since with your method youâre just sliding the hoop in and I would have to fuse it before turning it right side out. But yes for standalone basket that definitely would give it support mine are going to be hanging off of my sewing table because I donât want any extra stuff on there. And the other one is by my sewing machine that will be hung with a command hook
Hello Tracy! This is really a cute idea! But my question is, is it to hang on or near your sewing machine? It doesn't look sturdy enough to set up on it's own.
Hi Lottie. It is for hanging. â I should have made it more clear in the video. Sorryđ
I just made a bag and itâs so cute! However ~ mine does not stand up. Any suggestions? Thank you â„ïž
You could use firm stabilizer. â
Hey Tracy, Iâve been looking for the fabric you used for your Thread Catcher for the last week, no luckđ„Č. Want to make a â3 yd. Quiltâ using that fabric. If you still have a piece of selvage would you share the information w/me? Iâm guessing âTimeless Treasuresâ and out of printđ«Ł! Thanks, Maryđ
Mary...I purchased that fabric at Joann Fabrics this year..so it is totally available I'm sureâ
How do I get a free download for this embroidery hoop thread catcher on my iPad. I hit download and it says I have to pay to join.
Hi Marie...there is no download...the video is the only instructions needed for this project
Iâm having trouble downloading the thread catcher video. Can you help
There is no downloadable pattern for this project. All instructions are given in the videoâ
I was all down for this project except I have no hoops!
I got my hoop out of an older embroidery kit I did a couple years ago lol đ
Check your local thrift stores. I see them all the time there.
@@ksharpe8137 I find them all the time at the thrift shopsâ
How do you get that friction to work so well. I havenât found one that works yet!
I received mine in a subscription box from "Sew Yeah" quilting....so far all of them workđ
@@TheSewingChannel I ordered mine from Amazon. Eight color. So far only the purple works. I did read somewhere that they dry out
When you cut the first 3.75 and up 2" and 3" across is it 3.75 on the left side also?
Never mind I figured out where I made the mistake lol
Well the second one still doesn't come out right, had to cut more out.
I wonder why. Are you sewing at 1/2â seam allowance?
@@TheSewingChannel yes I am I even remeasured
Ok now I feel stupid...I found my problem đ I didn't measure material correct but I truly have it now. 3rd one went together perfectly. Thank you
Hey girl, I was going to make this thread catcher from our buddies at Sew Yeah quilting but I will take a look at yours. Are you going to be on tomorrow night? Theyâre doing it Friday night instead of Saturday
I didn't know they had a tutorial out for a thread catcher....I will have to check it out...thanks for the heads up.....
I'm saving my $ for Sew Yeah's bolt sale on April 7â đ
@@TheSewingChannel I do remember hearing them talk about it how much is it going to be a yard I canât remember
@@TheSewingChannel actually they have two videos hereâs one of them this is the one that I will probably make
czcams.com/video/esz9sLyWAmg/video.html
@@TheSewingChannel and hereâs the other one
czcams.com/video/hJBV7EXSjQk/video.html
@@dcwatashi You have to buy the whole bolt...it's only solids though....I think it's $65 a boltâ
Hey Tracy can this be downsized to a 3" hoop
Yes I'm sure it could...that would be a very small opening thoughđ€·đ»ââïž You will have to play with the measurements to get the right fit for a smaller hoopâ
Would you think half the size on material?
Try a mock up and test itâ thatâs the best wayđ
Okay I will do that and let you know
