    I think other commentors here have interesting thoughts about Jace's reluctance to test the dragon seeds. However, I think some of those ideas are crediting Jace with far too much circumspection for the future. At it's core, I think his reluctance is based in a much more personal trauma: he has had to live nearly his entire life with a massive case of imposter syndrome. The one thing that, until now, has indisputably proven him to be worthy successor to the throne is his connection to the dragons.
    I don't think he dislikes commoners claiming dragons because he fears that they might claim the throne later. I think its more that it will de-legitimise his own claim and weaken the dynasty's claim as a whole. I'd also suggest that, after all the sacrifices he's had to make (such as ignoring the death of his father) to protect Rhaenyra's lies, it's understandable that he's angry about her, potentially, throwing it all away.

    Burned tissue tightens horribly as it scars. Patients have to do physical therapy even as the burns start healing to continually flex the injured area, or else it'll tighten so much that movement becomes excruciating. I'm guessing that's what Aegon is going through.

    Jace has a valid point that should be taken more seriously. Jace has seen his mother, the named heir, have to go to war for her throne because it was contested by other family members and high born once her father died just because she’s a woman and they believed the male has the better claim. Jace has black hair. If there are other dragon riders out there with silver hair who are Targaryen bastards, why wouldn’t other high born lords see them as having the better claim once his mother dies? Especially if that silver haired dragon riding bastard is legitimized to have the taint of being a bastard taken off. Jace is being completely screwed over for the future and he’s super smart to see it, because he is seeing the same thing play out with his mom. Technically team black has enough dragons to defeat Vhagar with Rhaenrya, daemon, Jace, Baela, and Addam, but it surely would result in the loss of at least two of the dragon riders on her side and she rightfully doesn’t want to lose Jace or Baela and it’s considered too risky to fight herself. So it’s understandable why she would be making the decision she makes, but it’s also very short sighted

      I honestly don’t get her decision. Like her whole idea is she has no dragons and need more. But her great plan is to give it to people she has never met or even known existed?
      The great plan was to give people dragons and it’ll go well because she’s the queen? They have no reason to be loyal to her. All their lives was spent in the mud because of their parents choice and now they are brought forth to die for someone who doesn’t care about them.
      I don’t get what she expects but I can’t wait to see who betrays her side

      @@user-kt4to5xs9l Yeah, it's an insanely desperate plan both in the book (where, paradoxically, Jace is the one to suggest this) and in the show.
      The only reasoning I can think of is that they thought they would quickly win the war and deal with the dangerous seeds afterwards. They obviously never considered dragonseeds conspiring *together* and thought the family combined could easily put down any one upstart who would have ideas above his station. Which is not unreasonable.
      The quick resolution of the current conflict is the weak point in this plan...

    • @user-kt4to5xs9l
      @user-kt4to5xs9l Před měsícem

      @@hedinsee6830 even then how do they plan to stop vermithor if he rebels? It’s just a slightly smaller vaghar with more attitude. It’s things like this that make me not like team black. Too many short sided mistakes.

    • @hedinsee6830
      @hedinsee6830 Před měsícem

      @@user-kt4to5xs9l Assuming the war is over and the family rule is united and he is alone in his rebellion, he would have to overcome all the rest of the dragons together.
      Vermithor and Vhagar are formidable, but they are not indestructible. Meleys alone was able to fight Vhagar with some success (not to mention the upcoming fight from the book that we won't spoil here). Even a couple of grown dragons could overwhelm any lone one.
      So *this* particular part is sensible. The problem is the number of assumptions that I mentioned in the beginning.
      That's why it's indeed a desperately insane plan in the first place.

    You are wrong about the old Valyria. People just assumed it to avoid contradiction. Only Targaryen bloods can claim Dragons. The issue with Addam was because he was not Corlys' son. He was Laenor's bastard. It was in the book.
    Addam the one who claimed Seasmoke was not the son of Corlys. Addam was a bastard of Laenor. Which makes Addam as Corlys' Grandchild.
    Addam's mom was Corlys and Laenor's sidechick. There was a time when Laenor just reached puberty, Corlys brought his son to his sidechick(Addam and Alyn's mom) in order for his son Laenor to get experience. It created a seed which is Addam. Laenor felt disgusted with it so his preference was turned towards men. So Alyn is like Addam's half brother and uncle.
    That is the reason why Addam has a Targaryen blood which he acquired from his father Laenor who is the son of Rhaenys. Seasmoke also took a liking at Addam because he resembles his Targaryen father Laenor Velaryon.

      @grizzledwizard7129 His point is that allowing random people (particularly lowborns) who have no loyalty or aligience to Rhaenyra access their largest/oldest dragons is a bad idea. @@grizzledwizard7129 The problem is not only in bastard dragonriders completely undermining Rhaenyra's succession and all but guaranteeing *another* succession war after her.
      Not only in giving away nuclear weapons to people outside the family which all but guarantees power struggles where *both* sides have nukes.
      The worst part is giving the *ultimate power* to people who never had *any* . Giving nukes to people who not only have no loyalty to you, but have no respect to the institution itself. People whose loyalty you cannot guarantee since you've given them the only instrument capable of such a guarantee. People who can now topple the *throne itself* and plunge the realm into a bloody anarchy that will make the mere dynastic war seem like a picnic.
      *That* is the scariest part in this. This is not a democracy where you can vote for them, this is a fight where people throw nukes around without a second thought.

He has been kissed his entire life about that and the one that he has that makes him have a claim to the throne is that he can ride a dragon if she can throw any bastard on a dragon and they can ride it then his claim to the throne just went out the window and if you can’t understand why that would upset him then I don’t know what to say.

    16:47 he LOOKS like a bastard, on top of having a very young dragon, and he’s one of the youngest of the bastards. His “claim” to the throne is IMMEDIATELY lessened if the bastards are legitimized. Them and there dragons are older and they look closer to targaryens than he. So it’s like if you got a job at your family’s restaurant then some random half brother comes in and he had spent x amount of years cooking for the king of your country and then the family brings them into the fold and now your position in the family is outshined cause someone is your elder and fits the mold better than you.

    I think Ulf was still figuring out how to ride a dragon, and Silverwing was the one making the decision to fly to King's Landing; perhaps she has missed the place she used to live before, or she picked up on Ulf's wish to "show off to his mates" through their bond.
    Regarding Jace, I didn't get the impression that he was begrudging others having dragons - it was his idea, after all, to look for possible Dragonriders further out in the family tree.
    But this society has a massive prejudice towards bastards, and the only "shield" Jace has against the "taint" of his bastardy is that he was able to claim a dragon. Back in season 1, Alicent mentioned how it was a surprise that Rhaenyra's children were able to claim dragons, and this despite the fact that Alicent has half-Targaryen children too. There exist this idea that a bastard would not be able to claim a dragon, and that's the "shield" Jace has had, and now the mother who made him a bastard wants to take it away from him.
    I still think Rhaenyra makes the right decision, because there is no claim without these dragons to stand against Vhagar, but I get why it hurts Jace so much.
