As per the latest Shark Tank Update, Umaro has a net worth of $70 Million USD. Umaro generates $5 million in revenue annually. Mark Cuban invested $1 million in Umaro Bacon for a 7% stake in the company. In addition to Cuban's investment, Umaro raised over $12 million more from outside funding.
I wonder how they went about harvesting seaweed from the sea that is not contaminated by chemicals and nano plastics found at sea. They will have to set up stringent quality control processes during the production phase at the manufacturing company and that will cost them tons of money. 🤔
@@4evertrue830wrong they do not need to grab from the sea when they can make there own and grow there own
Robert's face told me everything I needed to know 🤣🤣🤣
His reaction can turn people off plant based foods totally
😂😂😂😂😂
So for sure never try the chewy bacon lol
@barbywhittaker8762 - Robert's face ... was not the only Shark face.
Exactly. Why do these plant/vegan types always shape everything they make to look like meat? It ain't bacon that's the problem with unhealthy people. Some good ole bacon in moderation ain't the issue. It's insane amounts of bacon with little to no exercise that's an issue. Killer pasture animal farts narrative isn't enough to convince me.
The patent to use seaweed for plant based meat options is massive value. No wonder Mark went for a huge deal for just 7%. He knows that even if their meats don’t sell that well, he could cut a deal with a major plant based meat manufacturer for royalty or selling off the patent outright for $100s of millions
They have patent application! That is not a patent! That means they are still waiting for a patent.
there is no such thing. they have a patent on their process not on making meat!!
@@jomangeee9180 They dont have patent on anything. They just did patent aplication. I can do patent aplication on anything...dosent mean it will get aproved!
@@aljosaskrabelj8412 I put a patent on your mom
A lot of hot air here. Beyond Meat was plant based/vegan too and overhyped. It's not doing as they touted in its infancy. Tired of hearing the killer cow fart narrative. You want to eat plant based meats be my guest. You want to be in denial so much that you shape plants into things that look like meats that's fine. There's nothing unhealthy about bacon. There is something unhealthy about a completely sedentary lifestyle and eating absurd amounts of bacon. Let's get people off colas, corn syrup infused foods/drinks, hydrogenated oils, and other overly engineered foods but some good ole bacon every now and again with a vigorous and active lifestyle doesn't need seaweed engineered bacon to revolutionize anything.

They already investigate the companies before they go on the show. It's obvious.

Lori's face as she says "Bummer" is priceless 🤣. You could see jealousy filling up the tank as she pretends it's all good ... man 😂😂😂.
Same with how Cuban was jealous of Scrub Daddy, remaining salty about it many many years later despite the fact that he didn't even want to invest

Lori said that Mark “outmoneyed” her. But I think a big factor for the entrepreneurs was having shared values with Mark regarding veganism.
Exactly.
If investors were gardeners, the vast majority of them would water the weeds, because they want fast growth.
Mark is the obvious choice for this product... but being the only billionare on the pannel definitely doesn't hurt.
Mark also went down to 7%. Lori knew she wouldn't. Mark can afford it lol
Mark's face when lori said she wanted to be part of this deal is golden.
What I like most is she found her partner that took her role serious. And the work and education she pursued made her a valuable piece to the overall vision.
For this product Mark was the best shark because he seemed to understand the value of the tech and science behind it. The consumer sales part of it will eventually come
He didn't just "out-money" Lori, as she said at the end; not only was his deal lower equity (at the very end, when he accepted their counter-offer), but he didn't impose a non-dilution requirement like she did (for the next round).
The lady in short hair should be an actress esp in movies with space themes
Mark & Lori are so competitive with each other.
Right when Marc yells “I’ll do that deal” you know he’s got it
I’m glad they didn’t fall for the weak selling point of “I’m a woman too so you should accept my deal”. As Mr. Wonderful has said countless times, a good business person doesn’t let their emotions cloud their judgement.
I never appreciate how people are considered, amazing women. They are amazing people. Amazing humans. Stating that it's of some specific Special Value because they are women, devalues what it is to be a woman, in my opinion.
Yeah Lori didn’t do that well, especially against Mark

The unintentional hilarity from the fact that Shark Tank requires them to have an actual tangible product to pitch...
"We have developed a revolutionary method to extract protein from seaweed! This is changing the world! We're going to save the planet!"
"OMG, how are you going to do that?!"
"By selling bacon."
Hahah I swear how these pitches market themselves with these tall claims like revolutionary but we all know they’re just products to revolutionise the bank accounts of founders and their investors!
I watched a documentary recently and turns out animal husbandry does produce 51% of the total greenhouse gasses emissions (more than all transportation combined).
So basically switching to vegan is a step towards saving the planet, more people don't do it because they love their meat. I understand that they are here to raise money and fill their bank accounts but what they said isn't totally baseless.
@@Shreyan81298 Yeah, I'm amazed that some people still don't get how much animals have effect on climate change.
@@Shreyan81298 Oh yeah, agree. It's also incredibly wasteful - for every ten calories you put into an animal to feed it, you only get out one calorie from eating the animal. Going vegan is totally valid.
I just find it hilarious that they had to come up with a silly product to qualify for Shark Tank, when the thing that's *actually* valuable is their technology.
@@Shreyan81298 plants eat greenhouse gasses. You've been terribly mislead.

Mark each time plant based food presented : "shut up and take my money !!"
2 things I didn't get in this pitch:
1. Why they didn't have a good comeback (or maybe they did and the show didn't air it) to Robert's question of "why your product and not a soy-based alternative?" at 5:28 . I was expecting them to say "no, because soy-based alternatives carry this troublesome environmental consequence that our product doesn't".
2. Why they focused SO MUCH of their pitch on selling "the best bacon ever". Mark, Lori and Kevin got the point: this is NOT ABOUT BACON, it is about developing a brand of protein-rich products/foodstuffs made of seaweed. So even if Robert doesn't like the "chewy" bacon he tasted, that is irrelevant for the bigger picture of the business, which is to revolutionize how people source protein from nature.
Robert never invests in anything he wouldn’t genuinely buy
Robert takes a bite and spits it out
😂😂😂😂😂
Because it is not bacon, simply refer to it as seaweed strips.
Facon: bacon 🥓
Robert's reaction tells me everything. I'm shocked anyone even made an offer considering they don't have current sales and proof of a viable product from a marketing standpoint. However, there is so much potential with plant-based protein products and the patent on the extraction process with this special protein source might be the key. I would have asked more questions about how their extraction process is any different than current extraction processes from other plant sources to determine if other manufacturers can/cannot use current processes for extraction.
This company, like most greenie things is just a pump and dump scam, Robert is either honest or naive. Cuban and Lori were investing in the fact that investors will shower money into this, not because of the quality of the food or expected sales
Oh wow, another essay! I wonder why you're not one of the sharks.
its just because they are female
@@podcasthostel spot on...mark was only interested in it after investors were about to pour in 10million.
I think because they are scientist
The fact that they have a patent covering the use of seaweed in plant-based meats is huge.
They don't have it yet but made it sound so.
It wont stand. Will be challenged and will lose it. Food patents are not proprietary only the process can be patented but they cant patent all seaweed used in plant based meats.
It does not taste better than bacon.
Definitely has lower nutritional value.
I like the questioning of robert here they didnt have answers.
Mark is not always right.
That's not a patent they or anyone can get.
The moment Robert opens his mouth I know that 99% he’ll find a reason to go out. If you have the script of all episodes he’s been in, the most repeated sentences he says are “can I try it?“ “I just don’t see it” “I just don’t get it” “I’m out” . He rarely sees anything, even some of the most successful businesses in Shark Tank e.g. Scrub Daddy. Many times he offers a deal just for the sake of having an offer as he’s been out too much, and asks for 45-50% of the business knowing that the owner won’t accept it and he has another way to stay out! This my 2nd YT comment on Shark Tank ever. I was so surprised to see ppl making so many jokes abt Barbara who’s definitely a much better Shark than Robert. Barbara knows her strengths and whenever she’s into a deal, she’s sharp like a samurai sword. And, she has more than one most successful deals on Shark Tank.
He needs to go
@@yonijoni4636 agreed, besides never making any deals he's just not entertaining enough

Honestly, I don't think we're ever going to stop eating animals. I do see humanity eating more plant based foods though, not " plant based meats". I think they should stop trying to replicate meats and just come out with some REALLY GOOD product that's plant based and sell it as is.
Edit: PBM
i agree! as a vegan, im never looking for meat replicants. i want good healthy nutritious food thats it
This is the dumbest thing I've read, and I'm not even vegan or anything like that. This is just dumb.
As an Indian vegetarian, I agree. India has amazing vegetarian recipes, a lot of which can be easily adapted to being vegan. They never do anything like trying to substitute meat. They let the plant ingredients shine for themselves.
@@Nutz4Lutz3624 i think they target more of people that consume meat currently to have them transverse easier over to plant based meats.
globalists will eventually price meat so high through regulations and taxes & make you eat fake plant "meat" in the name of the environment
Lori's face at 8:51 is absolutely worth the million dollars mark spent.
Roberts reaction after the first bite stole the episode lmao
Robert's "Wow" is starting to rival that of Owen Wilson's.
Can't believe they turned down Lori's financially-worse deal even though, as Lori repeatedly reminded them, she too is female.
mark really went for it outright. he couldve gotten like 10-15% for 1 mil, since they offered kevin for 8% .. so they should have more flexibility from their start offer.
You know it’s big when mark immediately jumps in with an offer
How could you get a patent to take protein from a plant to plant based food? That sounds insane, if I wanted to go to the ocean, get seaweed, cook it to get protein out of it, and serve it at a restaurant I don't want to get sued. Can someone explain this?
I believe she said plant based meats, which is why they're expanding to breakfast sausages/patties
The way they extract the protein out of the seaweed is proprietary to them they have a way of doing it that no one else can use
@@danielpak7264 Sounds like BS.

When he first got on the show every entrepreneur always chose him bc he was a Billionaire and owned the Mavs. I think over time every has realized each shark adds their own value, and Mark's "billionaire" shiny status has kinda worn off.
If some one says in a pitch that my mission is to protect planet, that’s totally bullshit 😂.
I always love how vegans swear their food tastes just like the real thing. Nah man, I’ve been eating meat for over 30 years, you can’t fool me lol
I love meat and vegetarian products. The problem is alot of brands try to claim their food is a replacement. When they should just sell their product as an alternative.
Nothing but emotional bullshit.
I mean it's good to have options available rather than being limited but I find it arrogant how they try to traverse meat eaters over to plant based products rather than try limiting the problems with how meat is acquired like through slaughterhouses, they just want to open a market based off an opportunity of something being a good alternative but their products can never compare to the real thing.
Not actually true. I often make plant based burgers and serve them to friends only to reveal to them that they are meat free. Always surprised faces after.
The vegetarian replacement is always worse-tasting and more costly. No ty

Honest question: why do people who swear on plant based diets always try to replicate animal products?
So that they can replace it with it…
To get the sales from the large percentage of individuals that eat meat
Because everyone needs to switch to eating plant-based foods and people like bacon. It is much easier to try to make a plant-based alternative than just trying to get people to leave up foods completely.

Great presentation ladies❤
I don't understand these people on this show sometimes. When Mark says no I don't want to go in with Lori what he means is he does not want to split the equity with her and do 500k each for 4%. But I guarantee he would have been perfectly happy to work with her if his equity wasn't effected. They could have asked him would you do the $1M for 8% if we also include Lori separately at 500k for 4%, for total of $1.5M at 12%? There's absolutely no reason he'd say no. In fact he'd be better off using both of their connections and her ability to market the product and help them grow faster, and he'd still get the equity he wanted. Because the ladies are planning to bring in more investors anyways, they said they're trying to raise $10M. It would have been worth floating the idea at the very least.
