It got us all bub.
Magneto saying 'Don't be afraid' shook my entire household, more so because he spoke it in German as a call back to his origins, to the trauma and death he'd seen. All to try and comfort another soul before the end.
When Magneto was on the ground, he had a small flashback that looked like him as a child looking at a barb wired fence like the concentration camps.
This episode went so hard. The relationships, the Cable/ Madeline reunion, Magneto's PTSD flashback to the Holocaust, Gambit's valiant sacrifice. I was at a loss for words afterwards and had tears running down my face.

Episode 2 also felt like a season finale episode!
I mean... Invincible's dad made him kill a train full of people. I don't think anything is ever topping that scene. Until season 3 anyway. Still. Great X-Men episode.

He tried warning them multiple times but each time pulled him further away from the issue no matter what he tried he couldn’t stop it all because someone came back from the future and screwed up every time line possible

That’s exactly how the Genosha massacre went down in the comics…they even mixed in the Morlock Massacre from years earlier in there…whoever wrote this is taking me and a lot of others on an emotional roller coaster! And notice as Rogue was holding Remy she was touching him skin to skin?. OMG!
They even sprinkled in a dash of Fall of the House of X with them crashing the Hellfire Gala😭😭

This show is beyond. They did not have to go this hard and they went even harder. And the Watcher was there for a reason. Holy shit. This episode. This show needs to be renewed for 25 seasons.

When Magneto got killed I was shocked but not sad. When Gambit died, one of my favorite x-men since the 90s when I was a kid, I yelled “NO” with pain and anger in my heart. It felt like I lost a family member. I’m just glad this episode reminding me again why I loved Gambit so much when I was a kid. RIP hero.
I knew I wasn't going to be able to expect what they were going to do best in this show.......but killing my boy Remy!!??!!? No noooooo!! Dude went out like a legend but I was in stunned silence and tears at the end........I need a week to recover from this honestly. Gambit no matter what your always my favorite X-Men

The silence at the end says everything about how GREAT this episode was. I think this episode sets up Cable time traveling to change the future. Episodes 8-10 will be like Avengers: EndGame. Also, did you notice: The Watcher showed up right before the attack.

One thing to notice, you can actually see The Watcher in the Night Sky over the Genosha Party. Even cosmic beings are fans of X-Men '97.

I am a grown man and I was in tears after this episode. Gambit was one of my top 5 favs man. Wow, Bravo Marvel. You got me to my childhood with this one.😢 Can't wait to see how it plays out. Cable is also in my top 5. The only happy moment for me was seeing him again 🥳

In X-Men The Animated Series in the 90s, Cable went back in time and kidnapped Wolverine and managed to make an antidote to destroy a virus that Apocalypse made. Before destroying the virus, Cable said : “The names Cable, remember it, Apocalypse!” Coincidently, Cable's first appearance in X-Men the animated series was in Genosha when he first met Gambit who escaped from the Slave Island. Cable helped Gambit unlock his collar which allowed him to rescue Storm and Jubliee and the other mutants as well.
And now Cable is voiced by Gambit's old VA.

I never forgot about the X-Men…I’m 41 and I grew up with the original show…ever since it went off the air, I’ve been watching the original on any medium I can find it on…I gotta say with ‘97, it feels like a real continuation, like the show never left…I think maybe Apocalypse will resurrect Remy and he’ll accept the role of Death and become a Horseman.
I was emotionally wrecked after this. I knew Genosha was gonna be attacked but I still wasn't ready. Did not expect to be crying in my chair in silence after.
The black screen at the end for few seconds and the serious music was the cherry on top! This was a masterpiece of writing, directing and animation and of course acting!😢

@@cheririce739 you see the vague outline of he watcher in the sky above genosha before the gala, don't remember which exact scene it's at but just look at the night sky in one of the frames of the city at night and you'll see it. It's a great subtle thing that you'd easily miss, but adds so much.

When Rogue says "I can't feel you" I balled my eyes out
That scene back in episode 1, where Madelyne Pryor was using cerebro to invade Gyrich's mind, was foreshadowing this episode. Listen for the music and cable's voice. Back in the original series Apocalypse explained that time and thought are a unity and that is why psychics can see into the future just like what Madelyne was accidentally seeing through Gyrich's mind b/c of his bigger plan with Trask.

Cable did say “He” is here, right? So it's not Cassandra Nova. That leaves a lot of possibilities. Apocalypse, Sinister, Nimrod, Arcade, Ultron, the sentient dangeroom,
Trask, Gyrick, and Fitzroy, are the first characters that come to mind.
Best guess… Nimrod or sinister. Apocalypse wouldn't be so weak as to send a sentinel to raze Genosha if he deemed it needed to go. He would simply pull up with the pyramid and the horsemen and wreck shop.
Maybe Bastion because he is conected to the Sentinels.

Excellent Voice Acting all around but especially from Lenore Zann. She has a tragic enough back story but her pain at losing Magneto & Remi at the end was actually heartbreaking. That is what losing a friend of almost 30 years feels like.
