    I had one of the original dumpster diver’s back 11- 12 years ago. Very easy board to connect with.
    Stoked they’ve been reissued, would be interesting to get on one again

      The originals were cool and I'd say sort of started the whole shorter wider trend. This second version is a little more updated with modern flare!!

    Thanks mate, good review. I've been surfing mine now for a few months and like it more than the Sampler as it is more manouverable. Prefer using pivot fins with it. It's my favourite CI board ever and would definitely recommend it. Probably a 2 or 3 surf adjustment factor.

      I could see the pivot fins working well with this board as the features do a lot of the work too!

    Is the spine tek eps good for a daily board riding it even when waves are choppy?

    • @SurfTechChannel
      @SurfTechChannel  Před 6 dny

      Great question! In my opinion, yes, especially if the waves are weak and mushy. The spinetek sits out of the water a bit more to help in those types of conditions.

    Hey James. Great review. How does it compare to a CI Sampler? That's my all time favourite small wave board. Trying to decide between a DD2 or another Sampler.

    • @SurfTechChannel
      @SurfTechChannel  Před 20 dny

      @@Henry46444 I would say it is similar to a sampler but much more improved. I had a sampler back in the day and remember catching the front edge more than a few times with the staged curves. I would recommend the DD2 over another sampler!

      @@SurfTechChannel Thanks for getting back to me. Do you find it's loose enough in small waves with the single concave? I've only really ridden single to double concave in my small wave boards and not sure how a board with a single concave will go in smaller waves.

    • @SurfTechChannel
      @SurfTechChannel  Před 16 dny +1

      @@Henry46444 definitely! This is a great small wave board. I used it a lot in small waves as this part of the Atlantic got pretty small late spring to now and loved every session. I would put this in the quiver as a groveler! It was loose all around, held on rail when needed, but was early to break free

      Hey Lee, to be honest, I haven’t had too much experience checking out the Phantom, but may be able to get on one in the future!

    Do you prefer this or bv2? Which has more rocker ?

    • @SurfTechChannel
      @SurfTechChannel  Před měsícem +1

      Both are great boards, I would say it depends on the type of waves you’re surfing, the BV2 has a more continuous curve to the rocker as to where the DD2 is flatter in the middle and flips up on the ends. I would say the DD2 is better in smaller gutless surf, but if your generally surfing better waves the BV2 is a better option.

      Damn, one day. Normally ride 33l but got my hands on a 5’11 34l. You think the extra liter will be too bulky vs a Spinetek 32.5l?

    • @SurfTechChannel
      @SurfTechChannel  Před 27 dny

      @@iansurf123 I don’t think so, I usually ride 31L and this one was about 32.5. I helped a lot for smaller summer slop! You can always loosen it up with different fins
