  • With all the advice on Dog Training in today’s world, it can be hard to know what the right way to go is. And this is particularly relevant when it comes to equipment you use.to train your dog.
There are many people commenting on how to train a dog and what equipment to use that really know very little about either.
In this video, I am urging anyone who has an opinion on a slip lead, doesn’t know much about them, or had a bad experience with another trainer using them to learn more about how to use them, and how effective they can be when you use correctly. There is a lot of bad advice about a slip lead that will scare you into thinking you are going to hurt your dog 100%.
I can tell you now as a trainer like many others that are a very affective training tool when used correctly. Any equipment can be used wrong to hurt a dog it is more about who is using the equipment than what the equipment does.

This is a unique presentation because not once did the speaker ever deign to demonstrate how and why a slip lead/leash can never pose danger to a dog and how - more importantly - how to go about properly utilizing the slip leash/lead. Dog lovers will find hundreds of far, far better video presentations on how to utilize the slip lead/lease effectively.

I ended up with a slip leash as a last resort 😂 after using collars /chokers/harness/ to no avail. I bypassed the halti.

I wanted some pointers on how to properly use a slip lead. But here there is too much talking but not really saying anything useful.

Slip leads are misunderstood, prong collars are misunderstood, e-collars are misunderstood. All are systematically being banned, which is absolutely absurd. Ironically the slip lead is the tool which is the most aversive-especially in the hands of an old school Gundog trainer. It’s only a matter of time this movement against the assumption that these tools are cruel will get the slip lead banned also. Then how you going to help these top 5% of dogs which benefit from these tools. Total ignorance I’m afraid.

Yes I see they are trying to ban everything in many countries. Craziness we will end up with more dogs that owners can't manage.
