For the time being, the turtle and tortoise are regarded as reptiles, kinda sorta. They're actually closer, genetically, to birds and dinosaurs, than they are to snakes, lizards, crocodiles, etc.

In St. Lucia, there's a protected beach that sea turtles lay their eggs on, and people will stand guard an protect the baby turtles on their way to the water after they hatch, sometimes even carrying them to the ocean.
That's the second most predictable lament, about any known animal in the world.

Gotta share. Near the end of this video we can see people marking the eggs in the sand with a black line. If the orientation of the egg is disturbed it will mess with the turtles development. The egg's "position" is maintained this way.

a few months ago a illegal Chinese fishing vessel was found here in our country. and they found a lot of dead sea turtles. 😢 it was so heartbreaking to see their dead stiff body. ready to become a medicine or a house display.
