There are some trucks out there that are doing north of 800hp, some even more than that. The fastest I've ever been in one was 123 (gps reading) in a T 600 across AZ late one night.

Big rigs can be pretty quick. A lot of times, the biggest bottleneck in their speed is the shifting. Your basically doing less than a second with the clutch actually engaged and putting power to the wheels in most gears. For quick take offs, sometimes it's actually better to pick every 2nd gear... (2nd, 4th, 6th...) to minimize shifting time loss.
yup I just love hearing the cowboys shifting 3,4,5 times from stop to cross an intersection. If as soon as you get into the next gear its time to shift you are grabbing to many grears

I had a zippy 1.4i VW Golf MK1 back in 2005. Went to another city with a new smoking hot girlfriend and pulled up next to a horse (tractor unit) at a red light. And this little shit in the passenger seat of the truck is out the windows giving me that dumb ass grin. That's the day my dumb ass got to know how fast unladen trucks move. And no, me and the woman never married. Bet ya'll she's banging a trucker right now lol.
