    I like how he left in the mistakes like removing those fake bolts and how he pried up on that plastic retainer and started to crack it. Its like I'm watching my future self attempt this shortly. Hopefully the mistakes made here will help me avoid them myself. Thanks for leaving those parts in the video, your lessons learned, will hopefully teach me what to be careful of. Thanks!!!

    Extremely helpful video. You helped me take my 2015 JK door apart which enabled me to repair the presenter latch.

    What's not included is the challenge of removing the black panel where you cut out the bottom holes, press tabs, roll window up, tape up the window so the window disconnects from the panel so it can be removed.

    Good video, I just wanted to let you know that you can save some time next time. The Allen head bolts do not have to be removed, they are only for show. That panel is just held in by clips.

    Hi Carlos, Thanks for posting this. I'm considering installing aftermarket actuators on my Jeep Wrangler and your tips are very helpful in removing the panels and securing the widow.

    Carlos, just wanted to say thank you for the video. Your trick for getting the window handle off with a rag/towel...old shirt (what I used! lol) worked amazingly well. No special tool just some ingenuity, you are the man. Just note for others that use this method, that little clip usually pops out the other side of your handle with some force so be ready for that. I had search my garage floor for a bit for one of them. Maybe throw a bucket under the door or something to catch the clip just in case.

      Great Tip. That happened to me quite a few times. I even bought extras because I would lose them so often. Bucket is simple and genius. Now if we could just make sure it lands in there. lol.

    Do you know if the secondary panel that holds the window comes off the same on a 2009 4 door wrangler passenger rear door? My electric lock doesn't work and I need to get that second panel off to get to the actuator in order to diagnose the problem. The electronic window controls still work and I can engage and disengage the lock manually on the inside door handle.

    Carlos's thank you for posting video. Im having issue my 2017 jeep unlimited. The drivers side door keeps locking on me when key is in the ignition. So if i step out with key off but in the ignition the drivers side door keeps locking. To a point im always opening window on that door so i dont lock myself out. Its only happing to that door. I could walk around to other side and that's unlocked. The dealer is telling me its the inner door handel. Both inner and outer seem fine open and close using handels no issue. Just constantly locking on drivers side only. I cant picture what dealer is telling me. That its the inner door handel is broken. I feel more electrical that keeps locking it, or an actuator. Any thoughts on this, need help

    Hello , i have a question, do you think the front actuators work for the rea doors on a jeep jku? They look identical with the only thing changing is the little plastic circle at the bottom that is for child locks . Thanks

    You didn’t show the most difficult part. Remake the video taking out the inner door panel attached to the track and glass.

    • @jasonv9202
      @jasonv9202 Před 3 lety +2

      Yes the glass removal was the main reason I was looking for a video. I think I can figure it out with what he did explain, but not even the Service Manual clearly explains how to perform the unclipping of that glass.

    Thanks for the video, I have to switch out the same latch on my 2012 JK Unlimited. The problem I am running into is getting the door open. I took the panel off as far down as I could from the inside. I detached the cables from the interior handle and tried giving the grey one a good pull but the door wouldn't budge. Any suggestions on how to get the latch to disengage from the inside?

    • @EducatedGreaseMonkey
      @EducatedGreaseMonkey  Před 7 lety

      if the cable doesn't open it, then it could be broken at the latch or disconnected. Go to the latch directly and try pulling on the lever. You may need a screw driver or something to accomplish that.

    great video...my door wont opoen from the outside but does from the inside. Sooo, I suspect something is malfunctioning with the lock actuator. I have to do this exact job.

  • @mmbrock95
    @mmbrock95 Před 6 lety

    Hey Carlos, did just replacing the actuator solve the issue as far as the racketing noise? If the plastic piece is broken how do you fix that? What’s the part number? This video was so helpful and I was so stoked and then I was like ‘dammit’ once I realized there was another part that was the issue. I have a 2011 JKU Sahara.

    Carlos I have a 2011 2 door 6 speed with automatic windows - in this video was the door not locking manually or it wasn't locking when the lock button on the key was pressed ?? The problem I'm having is my keep locks manually but doesn't lock when the lock button is pressed from the key was told it may be the actuator......any thoughts ??

  • @paige1970

    What were the wires going to? Power locks? I was told by the dealer it was manual locks on my 2011 wrangler. Unlimited sport. (I bought it used) but there are wires? I’m trying to figure out what they go to?!

    Why do all the car makers use such brittle plastic that breaks so easily? Those cables are a weak link in the design. The ends break off.
