Watching you working on those Florsheim Imperials took me back to the late ‘70’s when my dad would have his Imperials worked on. Whenever I watch the 2 of you, I close my eyes and can remember the smell of the leather at Square Deal Shoes in my hometown of Des Plaines, Illinois. Thank you so much for sharing your amazing work and for keeping the shoe Cobbler trade alive!!!

My father wore Florsheim Imperials that my sister and I called 'termite shoes' for the small holes in them. My father was very smart and was making over $50K yearly in the late 1950s and always had the best of tools, clothes, etc. I later realized that Florsheim and Bass and Allen Edmonds are all top notch shoes...

In January of 1982, I bought a pair of this exact shoe, Florsheim Imperial Wingtips, pebbled leather. Same shoe. I still proudly wear them to the office. I have no end of fun telling my staff and coworkers that the shoes I am wearing are older than they are, lol! My dad thought I was crazy at first to spend so much on a pair of shoes, fresh out of college as I was, but once I saw them, I simply had to have them. I told him this was going to be the last hundred bucks I'd ever spend on black shoes. He told me that if I took care of them, they'd last a lifetime. He was right. I was wrong, though, as a few years ago I bought a nice pair of Allen Edmonds black shoes, just for the fun of it. They're not nearly as heavily built as my Florsheim Imperials. The Florsheims are SOLID. Thanks for another awesome video!

As a young guy first entering the professional workforce 50 yrs ago, I routinely bought winged-tip Florsheim Imperials in shell cordovan. Being young and ignorant, I wore them all year round under all weather conditions and other than replacing the soles once or twice, never took care of them in any way. Eventually when the uppers cracked through, I'd toss them and get another pair. I think what this experience reveals is how at one time, consumers could buy top quality American made footwear in premier leather at affordable prices. To get a US made dress shoe today of comparable quality, you can expect to pay an amount north of $700...what young college graduate going to his first job could afford something like that today...?

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Almost 40 years ago my father bought me my first high quality shoes - a pair of black Florsheim Imperials just like these. I wore them to my graduation, job interviews, first day of my career, and they lasted for years. Resoled them twice before they died. A sweet memory, as my dad is in end-stage dementia, and we’ll lose him soon. 🙏🏼

I have been watching your videos for a few weeks now and I am very impressed with your level of craftsmanship. These shoes came out beautifully. No corner-cutting here, this certainly shows that “you get what you pay for”. I had no idea what goes into making and repairing a good pair of shoes.

What a beautiful shop you have. I like the old line Landis finisher and the model 12 curve needle sticher. All over 100 yrs old and still as good as new. I think you painted the finisher blue and maybe changed it from bushings to bearings. I like your (maybe a Grizzly) jack. Happy to see young men in this wounderfuol business. I miss it after a lifetime of repairing shoes and boots.

Long time viewer here, I LOVE this style of video. The text explains any interesting details, but the gentle quiet music compliments the sounds of leather squeaking, rough textures, and the work being done.

Absolutely beautiful job of repair, cleaning, and restoration of a fantastic shoe of my early adulthood. They were wonderful, except for the suicide heels! Fall and break your neck. I had those heels replaced shortly after I purchased them. Very comfortable and durable. Thanks for a great video.
