    This game enjoyed quite a bit of fame when it came out.. I think it got some nomination

      @BoardGems  Před 3 lety +1

      On the top-left it mentions it won the "Spiel der Spiele", Austria's game of the year. It's still awarded, but the list of SdS award winners on BGG hasn't been updated since 2010, and its wiki page since 2014. It's been nominated for other awards, but as far as I know, that's the only win.

    I don't really understand why the end game scoring would be tedious. You don't actually have to move the chieftain just quickly look at all the visible parts and quickly count them up.

    block and key was recently on KS, and seems like it takes of some what made this unique and using that.

    • @BoardGems

      I was looking at that! Each player has a different view and you're trying to make particular patterns, so the games would play quite differently. Cheers!

    I've heard CTRL which came out earlier this year compared to this. Have you had a chance to play that one?
    Looks fun, but man that final scoring is intimidating.

    • @BoardGems
      @BoardGems  Před 3 lety +1

      Final scoring is really tedious. That's one of the reasons I prefer Demolition Mode - but you can't play it until you play the regular game!
      Sadly, I don't get as much chance to play new games as I'd like. (Especially now, of course.) I've read about Ctrl, works a bit like a reverse-Pueblo in that you want your colour visible and don't want it hidden. Reviews and comments on BGG about pieces falling off too easily give me some pause, but I think Ctrl could be a reasonable (and very cheap) alternative.

    I went to IKEA and bought at turnable round wooden serving tray. It is actually pretty cheap.
    I believe the game should be played with the burial mounds and the auctions.
    Would've been really cool to have a live chat. We two got something in common.

      Sounds like it! Well, every video premieres on the 3rd, 13th and 23rd of the month. The cool thing about premiere is that when it goes live, there's a chat function! I'm online during the premiere to chat with viewers. Keep an eye out for the next video, and if the premiere time works for you, join me for a chat!

      @@BoardGems Ok, I was more like thinking of a private Messenger voice chat. I am not the regular board game pleb. Me and you are much closer in the hobby than you might think...
      We even shared the thought of adressing the negative comments in the BGG ratings :-)
      I have more thoughts about stuff than that... I feel in general that most peoples reviews of board games are lacking.

    Not bad, but too abstract to reach a 7 rating in my book. Very puzzley. This kind of game is good for those times when you feel you've lost too many times due to poor dice rolling. I find this more appealing than Rumis, and it doesn't last as long as Torres.
    Demolition Mode reminds me of flying back to the start in Flying Carpet.

    • @BoardGems
      @BoardGems  Před 3 lety +1

      I've always felt there isn't enough game in Rumis, though I still like it. For my tastes, Torres probably is too much game! Pueblo is more approachable, and is thinky but not complicated.

    • @upandawaygames
      @upandawaygames Před 3 lety +1

      Yes, Torres looks odd as a Spiel des Jahres winner today.
