I'm not a professional by any means but isn't that a waste of bullets shooting at trees in that situation I mean I guess there's panic involved but still these people are supposed to be trained but it's a movie after all so I give it a pass
Because they don’t know, and can’t see what is attacking them, that’s why they unleashed a shit load of bullets, and it’s like what Mac said to Dutch a bit later in the movie, NOTHING on this earth could of lived, hence why they pretty much shot the forest to shit.
I mean if you was Mac and say what he saw i guarantee you would have done the same. The others trusted in his judgement knowing he wouldn't be firing at nothing.

Let me rephrase myself it would be a difficult situation I don't remember the film even though I have seen it so I don't know the whole context of the situation except what is shown in the CZcams short video
That m134 gatling type minigun which weighs 39 kg fires 7.62×51mm nato rounds which weigh 25.4 grams. It's firing rate is at around one thousand two hundred and fifty rounds a minute. He fired for approximately 45 seconds straight Which means he fired off around 937 rounds, which would weigh a total of (937 x 25.4) 23.4 kg. Finally add the battery which the Gun needs to operate its electric motor which would be an additional 10 kgs, approximately. This means that Blain was lugging around over 72 kgs through the dense jungle not counting his other equipment or the rounds that he fired earlier in the film.

Shouldn't Mac have been able to hit the Predator many times here? Maybe even kill it?
It appeared that the Predator was on the ground not more than 20 yards from Mac. It decided to turn and run with not many large trees around to cover it. Very strange for the Predator to make itself this vulnerable. Clearly, the Predator should have killed Mac too as soon as he came through the foliage rather than risk retreating while under fire from heavy weaponry.
It was like the Predator just didn't want to kill two people at once, or at least, the script didn't want to.
Also, wasn't Blaine's death kind of caused by splitting up and looking for Hawkins' body? Then, immediately after Blaine is killed. Dutch orders everyone to spread out again? WTF.
