  • We are going for a walk around Cyberjaya. Let's see where we live and what is in the vicinity. I find Cyberjaya absolutely on top of the line when it comes to modern futuristic cities or towns. It is not very big but it has this air of a very futuristic and utopian around it, I am very impressed, I feel like in a science fiction movie. Very good experience to be here but we will soon travel onto KL and then hit the jungle railway up north east.

    I have done the Jungle Railway several times: started from Kuala Lumpur, then stopped over and changed to the Jungle Train at Gemas in state of Negeri Sembilan. From Gemas to Wakaf Baru in Kelantan, with a number of stations in between.
    Tips:
    1. If you take the evening train, best to book early for the sleeping berths.
    2. The train is of the old school type. Pros: Old school train vibes with buffet coach and all. Cons: Relatively slow, rocky and the toilets could be off putting.

    • @yvesthesleeve
      @yvesthesleeve  Před 2 lety

      We'll go to KL first and then - as I found out - have to take the bus to Kuala Lipis and from there we will travel up the northern part. It would be cool to do this all the way from Johor, maybe some other time.

    • @muhd7144
      @muhd7144 Před 2 lety +3

      @@yvesthesleeve That's one way by bus from KL to Kuala Lipis because most the scenic jungle view is from Kuala Lipis in Pahang to Gua Musang in Kelantan. The stations after Gua Musang : Kuala Krai, Pasir Mas, Wakaf Bharu and end of the line Tumpat.
      The second way, and better way in my opinion, is to take the normal ETS train from KL to Gemas, then change to old school Jungle Train from Gemas to Wakaf Baru (but do book the sleeping berths on this train, one berth each for each of you except the youngest)
      Edit : If you book in person or online journey from KL to say Wakaf Baru, it will automatically include the change over to the Jungle Train from Gemas to Wakaf Baru.

Most “KL people” actually live in selangor or in “Klang Valley” or in other words greater KL in suburb townships like cyberjaya, putrajaya, subang, petaling jaya, wangsa maju etc…but KL has spread so far and wide that these towns are sort of interconnected and the boundaries getting blurred

    KL , putrajaya and borneo labuan island are federal gov areas like washington dc or canberra australia. Cyberjaya in selangor is the IT hub like bangalore india. It is not the silicone valley which is penang(you stayed there during mco). All the chips are made in penang. It supplies 11 to 13% of world chip component requirements. During lockdown world car supply chain was affected , no chips. Cyberjaya is the data centres and software companies plus mcmc the regulator. And helpdesk services.

      Silicon Valley is largely an IT hub, software hub, data center. Not many microchips are produced in Silicon Valley, hardly any chips are produced in America anymore because they have outsourced it to lower wage countries. So to me, Cyberjaya is more like a Silicon Valley of Malaysia compared to Penang.

      They do enjoy it, they have been enjoying it for 5 years. We are very much used to humidity, know this better than any other form of weather. No plans for any other schooling than the home schooling we do with them.

    Almost too pleasant without anything interesting going on. A little too antiseptic for me. It's a bit like the tech parks all over the world, you only should be there to work and relax between work hours. It's fine for a week or so, but it's hell for years. I am surprised how few people are moving around. Is it busy at different times of the day. Would not be my cup of tea, but i am sure there are lots of happy people living there.

      Yeah it's a bit sedated... Not for singles maybe 😅 but great for families with all the space and parks, cafe hipster lifestyle. Lots of foreign students and expats here and there. A drive away is Putrajaya with all that architecture. Cyberjaya is growing slowly but surely.
