    Can't wait until the epic finale. Seems so strange to think this series coming to an end. Thank you for all your hard work.

    Great video! The final battle approaches, looking forward to that!
    Are planning to do a video on the aftermath and how the conflict affected the involved nations or something similar after you finish covering the war?

    I just wanted to ask what the Japanese thought of Joseon and Ming troops and the coalition's opinion on Japanese troops .Great work btw

    • @JapanatWar
      @JapanatWar  Před 2 lety

      Tbh I don’t have many sources that give detailed opinions. But for the most part both Korean and Japanese looked down on each other, however a lot of times the Korean soldiers were scared of the Japanese soldiers.
      The Japanese had a mixture of respect and fear of Ming soldiers, at the very least the mounted ones. And Ming commanders typically looked down on the Japanese soldiers, though I dont know what the regular soldiers thought.

      @@JapanatWar why was it so hard for the Japanese to counter Ming cavalry? Is it training or equipment? I kinda wanna know about the armies of the three sides and how it related to their performance.

    • @JapanatWar
      @JapanatWar  Před 2 lety +1

      @@matthewct8167 Its most likely a mixture of both, though I'm speculating here. Training would be different commander to commander.
      However the spears the Japanese took with them were shorter than what was needed. They had pikes, just they relied so much on the teppo that they weren't brought into Korea. Plus in most battles they wouldn't have been needed.

      Basically the Japanese are withdrawing their forces but the other side keeps attacking. The Ming for the most part would be okay just letting it end but the Joseon want revenge. :)

      @@JapanatWar "Want revenge" was too strong and emotional a word IMO. There was certainly hatred and animosity between Korean and Japanese during and after the war (as was between Chinese and Japanese), even post-war talks about invading Tsushima islands, but for the most part they didn't (and/or incapable to) act out on it. Relationship between Joseon and Japan began to normalize in 1607 which was actually pretty fast for such a devastating war (Tokugawa shogunate was founded on 1603).
      Actions during the war were more influenced by reality on the ground than by sentiments. Japanese were withdrawing because they were losing the war, Ming was attacking because it was winning, then Ming became okay to just let the Japanese go because it got a bloody nose trying to evict the Japanese from their last few strongholds, then changed its mind again because news of Hideyoshi's death reached Ming court and it was a good opportunity to kick them while they're down.
