  • Following a period of unsettled weather in Scotland, I finally got the opportunity to bag my next Munro: Mount Keen (939m).
Parking at the Bridge of Tanar (£3 day charge), I opted for a longer approach through the Forest of Glen Tanar and set of just after 0800. Initially after passing some estate buildings, the trail moved into an extensive forest with a well maintained land rover track hugging the Water of Tanar on my right.
After clearing the forest, the trail made way to an open glen where the wind picked up and made capturing audio more difficult. After a few bridge crossings where I was able to refill my water bottle using my new water filter, I began the ascent up to the summit which still remained in cloud.
A steep but well established trail winded it’s way to a rocky summit which was just visible through the clouds. After a short stop for lunch, I made my way back from where I travelled and back to the car. 19 miles in total made a longer day vs the usual approach from Invermark.
All in all, a good day out bagging the most easterly Munro in Scotland.
    TIMESTAMPS:
    0:00 Intro
    1:38 Caledonian Forest
    2:15 Glen Tanar
    3:52 Ascent
    5:06 Summit
    6:02 Return to Car
