Also, doing one day's work as a voluntary civic duty is a very good thing to do. Thanks for your comment. However, it is important to mention here that the current president of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari introduced the same policy in Nigeria in 1984/1985 during his 'War Against Indiscipline' policy. It was called Environmental Sanitation Day' and it was usually the last Saturday of every month. No movement of vehicles and persons from 6am til 10am and street cleaning must be done across the country. The country started it, practiced it but did not improve on it. I believe a few states still do it in Nigeria today. However, they need to do better with it and promote patriotism too.

Eric B. Kwesi When JJ Rawlings started this some 30 years ago the other parties and some Ghanaian Elites begun calling HIM names and so it all stopped . Kweku Baako and many others went on radio to call him a dirty president who is denigrating the Presidency of Ghana because he asked that we all do Communal Labour to keep our cities and towns clean across Ghana 🇬🇭. This isn’t new . Jerry John Rawlings started it but Ghanaians bastardize the idea and ridiculed him for asking us all to do this communal cleaning .

Urwanda Urundi was one region with only three tribes ie Hutu 85%, Tutsi 14% & Twa 1% until colonialists introduced boundaries & the two became independent states. These two countries have the same tribes of people, culture & also speak the same language(Kinyarwanda-Kirundi).

I vividly remember when the Ex prez. John Mahama's gov't. introduced the national sanitation day here in Ghana every first Saturday of every months led by Mr. Julius Debrah, majority of Ghanaians wouldn't participated and the few that would involved themselves, we all have seen much improvement which curtailed unnecessary floodings in the country. But today another person is in government/power and abolished this initiative and what do we see today in Ghana... flooding almost everywhere whenever it rains especially in our cities.
    Respect for Rwanda
