please, you can't use plastic bags! air can't circulate in them, and that's bad, as the proteins in the mushrooms start to denaturate. also, spores can't fall through that bag, so you're not contributing to spore dispersal at all.

For a short duration there is no noticeable decrease in quality as long as you take them out when you get home.
Are there spores on young fruit bodies?

@@blotafton yes, for short periods there are no noticeable effects, but why not use a paper bag or something more suitable? of course there are developed spores on young fruiting bodies. they don't get all dispersed at the same time. if you put a slice of the hymenium under a microscope, you'll see that a lot of them are present and being dispersed.

(of course, in REALLY young ones without fully developed hymenium there are none. but you wouldn't collect boletes that are smaller than a centimeter.)

@@Kammerliteratur Ok, then the spores will have to try to escape before I pick :) I use plastic bag or basket but not paper.

@@blotafton basket is better. but not everyone has baskets. you can also use a reusable jute bag, if you dont want to carry a basket. i've always one in my back pocket for the occasional shroom.
