- Discussing, (Amongst fighting Cats!), All of my Royal Enfield Interceptors, Old and new. Worn out parts, wrongly fitted parts on Mk1 and Mk1A models and where am I with the Mk2 ?
Bikes in the video are,
1962 Mk1 interceptor 750.
1967 Mk1A Interceptor 750.
1970 Mk2 Interceptor 750.
2022 Interceptor 650.
I liked the ride out videos and almost bought a 350 bullet on the back of one of them. In the end, I spotted an almost new Halcyon Black Classic 350 Reborn (62 miles on it and five months old) and bought it.
Lovely looking bikes those old interceptors
Cats dominated the film again! 🤣🤣🤣😁👍
Cheers Bruce
Yes they do! little sods they are!
It is fascinating to see the old Interceptors, pistons and bores. I have bought quite a few parts from Hitchcock's and it is good to know they support owners of old Royal Enfields. I am also a fan of the new Interceptors and like that there are plenty of options for modifications with them. I enjoy your videos! 👍👍.
Thankyou so much!!😁😁
The more I see of the mk1&2, the more I like them. I have the ‘new’ Interceptor because I thought/ think it looks the part of a typical 50/60 Brit bike. After 4 1/2 years riding it, I’m still happy with my choice. Would have still bought it no matter what name they used.
Wow that's amazing about Hitchcocks remanufacturing to original drawings. At a cost, no doubt.
Those Redditch Interceptors are SO nice. You certainly know your stuff, VB.
i think the Redditch Draughtsmen who produced the drawings all those years ago, would be honored to know that parts are still being made from their drawings! I don't claim to know anything much!
@@Volcanicbrown1878 I don't imagine anyone will be making stuff from my old drawings. It's a wonderful legacy, Royal Enfield have. Good for you keeping the larger Redditch models going so well.
@@Lanes-Explorer5733 I am doing my best!😁😁
Interesting thoughts, you obviously like the process of stripping bikes that don`t work and then making them work well, maybe the new "Interceptor" is for people like me who just like riding them as opposed to forever tinkering with them. Its not that I`m lazy, it`s just the sheer number of parts - I`d forget how to fit `em back together. Admire your work and your videos, very entertaining.
Thankyou! Wrenching work isn't for everyone! I guess that's why i have modern bikes as well, they give me the time to devote to the old ones, without depriving me of getting out on a bike! The number of parts in the older bikes is considerably smaller than modern bikes and far less complicated. They were designed to be fixed when necessary, by the average owner with a few tools. No computer diagnostics or error codes, limp modes and all the other glitches you get on modern stuff! Thanks for your great comment!
I like the rideout videos ,looking forward to seeing the MK2 in action, good luck with the electronic ignition on it, I've got a Boyer unit on my Trident T150, seems to make for easy starting (unless you have an audience!), keep them all coming please, love the history content on the Royal Enfields ,especially as I've now found out from you they were only made about 5 miles away from me!
Thanks 👍
I own a new interceptor, and agree that it doesn't look anything like the old one. I am waiting for the ride out video from you on the old interceptor to see what it sounds like.😊
It's coming!
The so called classic bikes are really an excersise in vehicular necrofilia.
Hello there lovely video beautiful machines, I have to disagree I still think the MK1 is the best looking but everyone to there own.
As for Hitchcock's motorcycles I've been dealing with them for years, Alan & his team are the best the only place to shop for Royal Enfield parts I can't recommend them enough. Keep up the good work cheers.
That's fine! They sold enough of them so you are not alone in liking the Mk1! Yes, Hitchcock's are brilliant
I'm surprised the rideout videos aren't so popular as you're in a nice area to ride in. I enjoy a mechanical/ tutorial video for reference too.
Has anyone from Hitchcock's asked to have a look at your collection?
Some want them some don't! Hitchcock's are way too busy with their business to be interested in what I have and their own collection makes mine look miniscule!
Muy bonito el modelo "Interceptor" de Royan Enfield, me gusta mucho el diseño retro de la reciente versión elaborada en India.

I thought the incepter would be a double up 350 like the old one was.
Viva La Difference' ! That pic of the new Interceptor looks great , that seat with the BSA-style kick-up at the end , changes the whole stance . What model is that off ? (it reminds me of my old Benelli- Tornado seat ) I've got a Gold-Star seat on my TR1 (new repro from Aussie, looks heaps better than the standard ) Dave
Seat is styled on an original Interceptor
IfI had to buy a new cylinder for my 650 Triumph I would buy a alloy cylinder for the bike. I know that they cost $1000 but I would do it anyway.
Nobody makes them for the Interceptors
@@Volcanicbrown1878 It would cost so little if the company did it at factory. Since EFI equipped bikes run hot 🔥 it would help cool the bike.
@@frankmarkovcijr5459 I thought you were talking about the old interceptors? The new 650 interceptors have alloy cylinders right from the start. The 750's, Hitchcock's had a batch of one piece alloy cylinders made for them and they weren't very successful so they won't produce any more of them.
@@Volcanicbrown1878 l didn't know that the 650 had alloy cylinders.
@@frankmarkovcijr5459 You do now!😁😁
It seems the cats had their opinion on the new interceptor at czcams.com/video/g_UVfYhvgZk/video.html lol!
Another great video, keep them coming
I find ride-out videos yawn-tastic. Paul Henshaw does loads, which I fast forward to the end mostly. This video is what I like, talking & looking. BTW, that red tank is also Series 1 type. It is the same as the GP7 tank but the livery gives it away. I saw the Baxter video of your Mk1A in the U.S. and it would appear they built it up with Series 1 parts (mudguards, seat & tank). It came to them minus these bits I bet. Also, while I'm here, what have you done to address the Series 2 crank seal issue? It's a bomb otherwise.
I do the fast forward thing on his videos too, unless it's a bike he has tuned and I am interested in that bike, then I might watch to the end! Crank seal on the Mk2 is a Hitchcock's one and is lockwired in place, It cannot come out now! I will ask Baxter's how the bike arrived at their place and whar was missing when it did arrive.
Old British motorcycles are made to be rebuidable forever without a chest of special tools. They are built by people for people. They will last forever because they have an apeal that modern bikes don't. If I have to explain you would not understand .
UK mk1 is ugly but sometimes ugly is beautiful & also wouldn't have to worry about gas ⛽ on long run or a mid week fill up.
1000 views is actually pretty good for any video but the 'show you what to do' videos are the popular one's that people like to watch with a ride out at the end of project.I would still do the ride out videos you're a young chanel & 1000 views already is good & word will spread about your love for old RE & your knowledge of how to fix them.
A tripod be great to film your how to videos & also having someone hold camera 🎥 as you do stuff if you can or zoom in on part & when editing explain what you're doing etc.
You also have a good accent that's easy to understand & people like a good British accent to listen too.Keep up the good work.
Heavy lug 215kg the new Interceptor compared to old 191kg of mk2.
@@ruahinesrider Thanks for the tips!
@@ruahinesrider Yes, you can feel the extra weight when pushing the new one around!
