Grew up in Killeen and went to Ellison. When I was a kid football around here use to be pretty good. Ever since they split the schools up in 01-02 the talent and size went out the window. The kids were bigger and the bands didnt look and sound a like middle school band. There is absolutely NO pride around here anymore. When I was a kid the same kids you went to 1st grade with were the ones you graduated high school with. Not any more because of how fast the military moves families around and how large Ft Hood has gotten that is not the case anymore. That kid you started with in 9th grade is now in another state for their junior season. I remember when Killen and Ellison would play, hell even when Killeen played Temple the game was completely sold out. They were so jammed packed they had to put bleachers behind both field goal post and even than that still wasn't enough. People would stand out on the fence line and all. Now you cant even get people to come to the games including rivalries, it's sad. Never thought I would root for Temple, but yall (Belton included) remind me so much of how it use to be around here. Wish we could get back to that way, but most of the kids around here thinks it's cool to be a thug now and avoid playing sports and supporting their schools.

Well said my friend, I grew up watching the early 90s Temple-Killeen, Temple-Waco and Temple-belton games and brooo, seemed like all those games were sold out. Football is bigger here noe then it was in the 90s. Bigger crowds, faster pace ..better athletes imo.
