Thanks for watching... Rock on!
Yeah, “the glue” is exactly right. That’s why JPJ is my favourite bassist.
Yes Mark!
@@AndrewRooneyDrums One of the BEST concerts I ever saw was John Paul Jones on October 15, 1999. He had two guys with him: a guy named Nick Beggs playing Chapman Stick, some bass, etc. (while Jonesy played keys) and a great drummer in the Bonham tradition named Terl Bryant. The power he was putting out was just unreal!!! His bass was like thunder, and the building was literally shaking. All I could think was, imagine this bass with John Bonham linked to it and Jimmy Page on top of it. Led Zeppelin live must have been absolutely devastating, and it wouldn't have been Led Zeppelin without John Paul Jones.
Mind you, I saw Jimmy Page & The Black Crowes twice that same week, and JPJ was still the best concert I saw that week!!
That Bass!!! And that Drumming!!! Never heard two artist complimenting each other like these guys! Wow
JPJ absolutely killing it as usual!
Always Michael!
Does anyone else just feel that when you hear a John Bonham fill it's like he's always showing you the perfect way to do it??? How could he always be so good at so many styles?? He still baffles me as to how he acquired his drumming wisdom and style. I know he liked Buddy Rich but I just feel like there was more going on behind these musicians than we were able to know...maybe??
Have you checked out my 'why is bonham so good' video!?
@@AndrewRooneyDrums No not yet, I will over breakfast tomorrow morning though. Thanks Andy!!
John Paul Jones sounds so good. I’m hearing all sorts of things that Jim I page’s guitar covers up. I’m listening to him more than bonham.
How many meme’s in a 12:29 video and the answer is Yes! Bonham’s ability to reach someone who knew nothing about drums and when they herd it would air drum. That’s a serious talent and John Paul’s playing is otherworldly
Yes Rob! hehe
The best synchronization in a led zeppelin song Is in the wanton song
That's in the patreon picks!
Wow, a drum AND bass guitar workshop!
Sure is!
What a super band .
Yes Michel!
It’s so nice to hear the rhythm section working perfection with out the hack making noise !
i was about to say that without the guitar track JPJ sounds amazing.
Yes Rafa!
Love the way this emphasizes one side of the track, with the bass and drums SO out front. I played TSRTS recently in my van, with one side of the stereo really missing, and I LOVED the way the Bonzo and Jonesy tracks really came through! They are the unsung glue behind the 4-genius groove!!!
Awesome Mike! 🎶💯👍
Bonham was the reason i started playing drums in the late 70s as a teen. they were rock gods to me ,I was checking out your Community coffee there im from New Orleans there Coffee and Chicory is is our main coffee here . Love your vids keep it up
Awesome Gary! Bonham must've inspired millions of drummers
You nailed it when you said that Bonham is a great musician. He and JPJ are my favourite rhythm section for any era or genre of music. Keep up the good stuff
They are just about everyone's!
Yes Darryl! Massive difference between great drummer and great musician
Love the isolation!!!
Me too Ed!
Bonzo was the very first drummer who made me pay attention to the drums, as a little kid. I remember sitting behind my uncle’s drum kit, a little 5 piece Ludwig Classic Maple with a badass dark red finish, Remo Black Dots and Zildjian Platinum cymbals complete with a Megabell ride! He was a kickass country and rock drummer, R.I.P. Uncle Butch🙏😔I’d play Zeppelin songs verbatim, and my uncle and Dad would be losing their minds! R.I.P. JOHN, you made one little kid fall in love with music!
I'm not a musician, but I am a music lover who loves learning about the craft/art. Never been interested in drumming EVER until John Bonham analysis/reaction videos this year. I am voraciously watching and listening to everything I can now. My partner thinks I'm insane I'm sure 😂 I love this so much, thank you! 🎶🎶🎶 and yes, agree with the masses; John Paul Jones is HUGELY underrated and a wizard 🎉
🙌
Thanks for your insights, Andrew. I appreciate your comment about paying attention to the whole musical picture rather than just one's own part. I think that's the difference between being a musician and being just a drummer, or bassist or guitarist. I've jammed with musicians at open mic sessions where everybody was listening and it was magical. Even if we didn't all know the song, we still nailed transitions, dynamic changes and even totally improvised endings. Of course I was playing with really good musicians who were able to bring me up to their level. Well, almost! Wonderful experience.
There is a bootleg called listen to This Eddie (its on youtube) you have to review the opening song from That gig!!!!!
Its the most intense bonzo concert
Sounds good!
The opening number to that show is F'n incredible
@@fchampd4512 maybe because its the only one you heard? Bonham was always intense
@@mthomas1973 ive heard 400+ bootlegs i think, There are more intense but the sound quality is so bad on some of them
What's better than Sunday 🌄 LED ZEPPELIN n John Bonham oh and a cappuccino 😋 Thanks Andrew for the analysis most enlightning especially the part about being a musician not only a drummer✌️
Glad you enjoyed it Susanne!
@@AndrewRooneyDrums come on Andrew you know you lured me into this crazy drumming channel with a Bonham video 😋 been here ever since✌️
JPJ is Zeppelin’s secret sauce
Yes Peter!
To all those that say you can't truly play funky bass and sound good unless you finger pick, please watch this right here cuz John is playing with a pick. To each his own.
Do you absolutely hear John Paul Jones in the background in sync with John Bonham and just getting with the groove and nail it holy crap
Check out Ian Paice's drum solo on The Mule live in Denmark 1972. Awesome.
First person to request Ian Paice!
John paul jones never got all the credit he deserves .
He deserves plenty!
it's in interesting you mentioned the big band jazz influence of bonham, listen to joe morellos' big solo and you will hear bonhams influence taken to another level
JPJ is a genius
“Nobody cares about your fills…”. that’s it! thank you, I’ve never heard anybody explain it that way.👍🏻
🤣👌
Sir Bonzo of the Zeppelin clan.
What a god.
You have to watch a video of John Longstreth. That’ll be a good one.
Michael Lee was with Page & Plant, not a Zeppelin replacement. Great drummer himself. May he Rest In Peace.
Thank you for that clarification Marion
JPJ was Led Zep's secret weapon.
React to Carouselambra please
Btw… Page strutting is killer, that guitar is down past his balls (hard to play when it’s that low) dang
Trampled under foot live
Thanks for the tip!
The 1971 versions , especially in Canada and Japan, blow this way. Take a listen.
Hey brother nice videos. Have you ever heard of gabriel parra of los jaivas?
I haven’t!
czcams.com/video/v6zrssCuYy4/video.html please check him out if you have some time. Up there with the best. Sadly already passed away but is considered to be if not the best, one of the best Latin American drummers.
He is widely considered to be the top drummer from Chile, with a unique and strong style.[1] In 1979 Los Jaivas toured England for the first time. They played at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London, where they were seen by a writer from Music Week. He later wrote that Gabriel Parra was one of the ten top drummers in the world.[2]
People seem to lack thought when it comes to the Best Bass player......WTF.................. just figure who is the grooviest drummers are then look to the RIGHT or LEFT,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, its the guys with 4 strings...........John Paul Jones-Geddy Lee and u fill it in,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Agree.
Groove requires a team effort
@@AndrewRooneyDrums and a few joints,,,.........don't 4get
Hey Andrew, I've been having some thoughts about your channel and thought I'd share as I'm lonely and bored...
1. When you do these types of vids why not record yourself impersonating the technique on your drum kit and then editing it into a little window whilst your talking. In this case, the whipping technique or moeller method. You explain things nice and clear but I just can't picture it mentally...
2. Your viewers are probably drummers, in most cases, so why not ask, now and again, for some viewers to send in themselves covering a song they like?? Or maybe even some viewer wisdom?? Viewers sharing videos of them performing new techniques or the like...?!!?
3. List vids?? Was expecting a "Top 10 - My Favourite Vids from 2020"
Probably not worth much but I keep on thinking about them...all the best buddy. Take care!
Great ideas!
Basically just comes down to time...
Videos take heaps of time. Record... edit... upload... etc etc.
My priority is getting the patreon requests done as there is so many requests at the moment :)
But I hear ya and will see what I can do!
This is not the source...
I love Soundgarden, Alice in Chains and Led Zep was the first concert I ever went to. I have always loved Zeppelin.
But they are not the source. You want the source you need to get some Lead Belly, Muddy Waters, Willie B Dixon... Old blues from the 20s to 50s.
With a little bit of jazz thrown in there.
For isolated tracks. Check out Bill Bruford on heart of the sunrise from the Fragile album by Yes czcams.com/video/kIUEP9VQn88/video.html
This
This is all about John Paul Jones do you hear that freaking Bass just non-stop pounding this is all about him badass
Hello to you
Hello 😊
Nice to hear but just doesn't sound right without guitars
I need to hear the full song Julie!
Yoyoka,s latest vid czcams.com/video/8SSQE_VZIRg/video.html
Thanks Paul! I think a patron has picked this!
Bruh we cant HAVE the coffee, why would we stay? OF course dudes like mev will but maybe work on a new intro. U r kinda funny.use some humor IDK ......still gonna watch you drull over Mr. Peart
Michael Lee was never in the band.
I know, I'm that guy.
Honestly, I hate it as much as you do.
I was looking for a comment to like & avoid being that guy. Thanks.
@@StevenLeBlanc918 Yeah Man!
Like your vid but you pause the track too much
