This Chicken Scratch is on Jehovah's Witnesses, and their belief that Jesus returned in 1914 and began reigning as King. Is this true? They say their doctrine is biblical, but it might only take a few scriptures to disprove this idea.

They'll explain it away as "we're just imperfect people" but are quick to point out that "at least we're fixing our mistakes, while you continue to live in yours." It's a clever little fallacy because it hinges on the assumption that their new light "fixes" their mistakes. How many times have they flip-flopped on whether those who died at Sodom will be resurrected? At their most recent annual meeting, Governing Body member David Splane talked about that, and openly admitted that they "just don't know". But wait --- I thought they heard from Jehovah - that they are Jehovah's one true channel of communication.... How can they say they don't know? The only way that's possible is if they acknowledge that it didn't come from Jehovah, right?

False pagan teachings are what people think is truth since the churches have taught nothing but lies for centuries! It's exactly as the Scriptures describe: (Romans 1:25) THEY EXCHANGED THE TRUTH OF GOD FOR THE LIE and venerated and rendered sacred service to the creation rather than the Creator, who is praised forever. Everyone will be forced to admit the fact that JW's have been given the truth through God's Holy Spirit BECAUSE they were searching only for accurate knowledge.
On the other hand, church goers have NEVER been told the truth, they have been taught false pagan doctrines that will NOT lead to salvation. It's up to each one of us to choose what to believe: choose wrong and......oh well.

    Sir Isaac Newton, 1642 - 1747,
had this to say after his thorough study on Bible Prophey:-
"About the time of the End, a body of men will be raised up who will turn their attention to the prophecies, and insist upon their literal interpretation, in the midst of much clamor and opposition.”
So he knew that there would be an End Times Restoration, a conclusion which he had arrived at, AFTER his diligent study of the Book of Daniel and the Book of the Revelation.
The Question I now have is Which is the Restored Church today?
There really are only a few candidates, ie.
    JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES
    MORMONS
    METHODISTS
    EVANGELICALS
    BORN AGAIN REVIVSLISTS
    SEVENTH DAY ADVENTISTS
    CHRISTADELPHIANS
    DAWN BIBLE STUDENTS
    RUSSELITES
    etc.
Perhaps these Movements make up the '10 Virgins' spoken of in Matthew Chapter 25?

The prophecy of Jesus said that this generation would NOT perish until All the thing Jesus was prophesying about happened. So my question would be, "how long is a generation. To me that would mean how long CAN that generation last. Now let us go back before the flood and read in Genesis 6:3: After that Jehovah said: "My spirit shall not act toward man indefinitely in that he is also flesh. Accordingly his (Mans) days shall amount to a hundred and twenty years."
Now if the generation that Jesus was speaking of started in 1914 then add 120 years you get 2034. Now we have to believe that Jehovah CAN keep one person (or more) from that generation alive for the 120 years. Moses was allowed to live 120 years, and his brother Aaron lived to be 123. Just a couple of months ago (present time), a woman died that was 119. Now do some thinking......
The great day of Jehovah is near.....(Zeph. 1:14)
    Got 11 years........enjoy them.

The resurrection of Jesus Christ reveals that raising the dead does not mean the bringing back to life of the identical body. Jesus was not resurrected to human life but to spirit life. First Peter 3:18 tells us: "Why, even Christ died once for all time concerning sins, a righteous person for unrighteous ones, that he might lead you to God, he being put to death in the flesh, but being made alive in the spirit." At his resurrection Jesus received a body, not of flesh and blood, but one suitable for heavenly life. ---1 Cor. 15:40, 44-50.

    • @richbaker7187
      @richbaker7187 Před rokem +6

But you miss the point. There are different "bodies" mentioned in the scripture. Jesus rose in the same body , now glorified. Jesus Himself told his Apostles to handle Him, and see that he is flesh and BONE, NOT a SPIRT. (Luke 24:39 You have to take the whole of Scripture and stop making doctrines on cherry picked scriptures by the WT,.
Resurrection is the "coming to life again". This by definition means the same "person" in a glorified body. JWs don't really believe Jesus was resurrected, they believe he "became" a spirit. You are using scriptures that contrast Adam with Christ, and how sin came thru the first, but life came thru the latter, in order to make doctrines that aren't there.
Your argument is a problem for you because your trust is in 8 guys in New York. I trust the words of Jesus, and if Jesus said he was not spirit, then I believe him, not you.
Also, Paul's first letter to Timothy in 2:5 says "For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,". Paul said Jesus was STILL a MAN; A glorified, heavenly, spiritual man, But still a man. We who put our trust in Jesus will be just like HIM when we see Him in glory. (1 john 3:2)
JWs don't really believe in a resurrection, you believe in a re-creation. If you stop existing, then in order for you to exist again, you have to be re-created, not resurrected. When we die, the body is separated from the spirit. Jesus' words make this clear in his story about Lazarus and the rich man. This was NOT a parable. How do we know? Because Jesus never used anybody by name in a parable. But even if it was, He STILL spoke of consciousness after the death of the BODY. I know, I know, all about Ecclesiastes. JWs default to this so dogmatically it's ridiculous. Solomon is talking about the futility of thinking this life is so important. He is not talking about the state of the dead. He is talking contextually about EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN.
Furthermore, if you think there is nothing after death, then you also need to follow Solomon's other words in the very next part of the SAME verse. That means if you take Solomon literally, there is NOTHING ELSE....EVER. No reward any longer, and their memory is forgotten. So JWs are famous for cherry picking verses, and even parts of verses.

Peter 3:18 says For Christ also suffered once for sins ,the just for the unjust ,that He might bring us to God,being put to death in the flesh and made alive by the spirit . This does not say Jesus was resurrected as a spirit and it does not prove that Jesus was not resurrected in the same body He was crucified in . At Luke 24:39 Jesus said Behold My hands and My feet that it is I Myself ,handle Me and see for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have . Here Jesus showed them His hands and feet with the holes from the nails and He told them that it was Him Himself and that He was not a spirit because spirits don't have flesh and bones as He had and as He had shown them and had them touch Him. Jesus had not yet gone up to heaven He was still on earth for 40 days before going up to heaven . .Jesus made it clear that He was not a spirit . Jesus also said destroy this temple and I Wii raise it up in three days . Jesus was talking about the temple of His body not some building . If Jesus was resurrected as a spirit and had told them it was I Myself handle Me and see that a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have then that would mean He was telling them a lie . Jesus never told a lie He always spoke the truth and Jesus is the truth .

So you are to know and understand that *from the issuance of the command to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until [the coming of] the Messiah (the Anointed One),* the Prince, *there will be seven weeks [of years] and sixty-two weeks [of years];* it will be built again, with [a city] plaza and moat, even in times of trouble.
    Luke 3:15 New International Version
*15The people were waiting expectantly* and were all *wondering in their hearts if John might possibly be the Messiah.*
It began when there was a break in the Judean line of Kings that sat on Gods throne (representatively). In other words God's Kingdom/rulership was not expressed fully.
That seems to be when the Jews went into captivity, and there was no kingly representative of God. The nations around God's people would be allowed to have power over God's people for 2520 years. Jesus touched on this time period also
    Daniel 4:25,26 New Living Translation
25You will be driven from human society, and you will live in the fields with the wild animals. You will eat grass like a cow, and you will be drenched with the dew of heaven. *Seven periods of time will pass while you live this way, until you learn that the Most High rules over the kingdoms of the world and gives them to anyone he chooses.* 26But the stump and roots of the tree were left in the ground. *This means that you will receive your kingdom back again when you have learned that heaven rules.*
    Luke 21:24 Contemporary English Version
Some of them will be killed by swords. Others will be carried off to foreign countries. *Jerusalem will be overrun by foreign nations until their time comes to an end.*
Though a Babylonian king was involved physically, there seems to be a deeper meaning that relates to God's own Kingdom. The 7 time periods in Daniel is only worked out by comparing other Scriptures.
    Revelation 12:6,14 New Living Translation
And the woman fled into the wilderness, *where God had prepared a place to care for her for 1,260 days.* 14 But she was given two wings like those of a great eagle so she could fly to the place prepared for her in the wilderness. There she would be cared for and protected from the dragon for *a time, times, and half a time.*
3 1/2 times seems to be the same as 1260 days. 7 times logically then is twice as much, 2520. The principle of the 70 weeks of years is applied, a year = 1 day. So from the start point 2520 years would pass.
At the end of that time God would have a representative on his throne again (His Kingdom would appear). The calculation seems to point to 1914 around the time of the biggest war in human history till that point. The events around WW1 matches what Jesus said would be occurring when he returned.
    Matthew 24:3 New Living Translation
    Jesus Speaks about the Future
3Later, Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives. His disciples came to him privately and said, *“Tell us, when will all this happen? What sign will signal your return and the end of the world?a”* 6And you will hear of wars and threats of wars, but don’t panic. Yes, these things must take place, but the end won’t follow immediately. *7Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.* There will be famines and earthquakes in many parts of the world. 8But all this is only the first of the birth pains, with more to come.
    Revelation 12:7-10 New Living Translation
*7Then there was war in heaven.* Michael and his angels fought against the dragon and his angels. 8And the dragon lost the battle, and he and his angels were forced out of heaven. 9This great dragon-the ancient serpent called the devil, or *Satan, the one deceiving the whole world-was thrown down to the earth* with all his angels. 10Then I heard a loud voice shouting across the heavens,
*“It has come at last* - salvation and power and *the Kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ.* aFor the accuser of our brothers and sistersb has been thrown down to earth- the one who accuses them
before our God day and night.
So all out war starts in heaven where Jesus was now installed as King in God's kingdom. The devil is thrown out of heaven to the earth where he is the ruler.
    Luke 4:6 New Living Translation
*“I will give you the glory of these kingdoms and authority over them,”* the devil said, *“because they are mine to give* to anyone I please.
Jesus said there would be unusual wars on earth when he returns in Kingly power. The 1st World war started on earth in 1914 - it is not hard to see why this has been identified as the time of Jesus return.
The kingdom was going to come at some point. Jehovah's Witnesses identified Jesus return as God's representative King in 1914 (rightly or wrongly). One thing is certain though, they have solid scriptural reasons to back up that belief.
    Matthew 6:10 New Living Translation
*May your Kingdom come soon.* May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.

In Rev 12:6 does it say 2520 years or 1260 days? Also you realize trust a few verses before that’s talking about Jesus, so after Jesus then comes the 1260 days, which is 42 months, which is exactly historical confirmed how long Nero persecuted the early church more than any other tyrant up to the point of John’s writing. You also need to answer the question, how could Jesus be king on 1914 when, 1 Cor 15:25, Hebrews 10:12-13 and Matthew 28:18 all say it was first century.

@@LightoverDarkMinistry I asked my question first...explain Scripturally when Jesus return will be... then we can discuss the differences.
If you can't state clearly when Jesus return will be/was then perhaps it would be good not to dispute the teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Focus on being positive. If you truly believe someone is wrong that's fair enough. BUT replace the wrong teaching with the right one and build them up.

@@LightoverDarkMinistry I will briefly address 1 aspect of what you said....when Jesus became/started ruling as King in furtherance of the Judean Royal line.
Do you notice that while on earth Jesus refused to be installed as King?
      John 6:18 New Living Translation
*When Jesus saw that they were ready to force him to be their king, he slipped away into the hills by himself.*
      John 18:36 New Living Translation
*Jesus answered, “My Kingdom is not an earthly kingdom.* If it were, my followers would fight to keep me from being handed over to the Jewish leaders. *But my Kingdom is not of this world.”*
Why did Jesus not rule when on earth? 2 Reasons...
      (1) Jesus would become King at God's designated time.
      Psalms 110:1 New Living Translation
The LORD said to my Lord, *“Sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies, making them a footstool under your feet.”*
      Matthew 22:44 New Living Translation
42“What do you think about the Messiah? Whose son is he?”
They replied, “He is the son of David.”
43Jesus responded, “Then why does David, speaking under the inspiration of the Spirit, call the Messiah ‘my Lord’? For David said *44‘The Lord said to my Lord,*
Sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies beneath your feet.’g *45Since David called the Messiah ‘my Lord,’ how can the Messiah be his son?”*
      Luke 19:11,12 New International Version
11While they were listening to this, *he went on to tell them a parable, because he was near Jerusalem and the people thought that the kingdom of God was going to appear at once.* 12He said: *“A man of noble birth went to a distant country to have himself appointed king and then to return.*
      Matthew 17:1-3 New International Version
      The Transfiguration
1After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. 2There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light.
      Mark 9:1-3 New International Version
1And he said to them, “Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death *before they see that the kingdom of God has come with power.”*
      The Transfiguration
2After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John with him and led them up a high mountain, where they were all alone. *There he was transfigured before them.* 3His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them.
      (2) There was already a ruler of the earth
      John 16:11 New Living Translation
11Judgment will come *because the ruler of this world has already been judged.*
      Matthew 4:8,9 New Living Translation
*8Next the devil took him to the peak of a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world* and their glory. *9“I will give it all to you,” he said, “if you will kneel down and worship me.”*
So Jesus knew the devil was the ruler of the world. However, he foresaw a coming change
      Luke 10:18 New International Version
18He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.
There was going to be a clash between God's Kingdom in Jesus hands and the Devils Kingdom. Jesus had to wait though till the time God said he could take over rulership of the earth.
That clash is what Revelation speaks of and was reflected on the earth. The war was for World domination/rule. Doesn't that sound a lot like WORLD War 1???
Revelation 21:7 -9 New Living Translation
*7Then there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon and his angels. 8And the dragon lost the battle, and he and his angels were forced out of heaven.* 9This great dragon-the ancient serpent called *the devil, or Satan, the one deceiving the whole world-was thrown down to the earth with all his angels.* 10Then I heard a loud voice shouting across the heavens,
*“It has come at last-salvation and power and the Kingdom of our God,*
and the authority of his Christ.a
For the accuser of our brothers and sistersb has been thrown down to earth- the one who accuses them
before our God day and night.
      Matthew 24:3,7 New Living Translation
3Later, Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives. His disciples came to him privately and said, “Tell us, when will all this happen? *What sign will signal your return and the end of the world?a” 7 Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.* There will be famines and earthquakes in many parts of the world.
None of this happened in the 1st Century. Jesus had to wait until God said it was time to become King and take action in heaven and later follow it up with action on earth.
      Matthew 6:10 New Living Translation
May your Kingdom come soon. *May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.*
Heaven had to have the corrupting influence of the Devil removed. Then the kingdom turned its attention to the earth. Soon both with have the Devils influence removed once and for all.

@@mo2874 The right teaching is what the Bible says, not the interpretation of men. The Bible does not say when Christ will return, only the promise that he will. The Bible does say that when he returns, all eyes will see Christ, (Revelation 1:7,Matthew 24:27)and that he will return the same way he left. (Acts 1:11)Both of those, as a JW you reject, as Christ couldn't be seen with an eye, and didn't return in the same way he left. The Watch Tower is trying to make the Bible say something it isn't, while ignoring scripture that contradicts their position. The Bible does tell us when he began to rule, without any shadow of a doubt, and it's not 1914. The only way to get to 1914, is to create rules of interpretation, and change words in Revelation, all while ignoring verses like 1 Cor 15:25, Heb 10:12-13, and Matt 28:18. So how to you reconcile those verses that contradict your position?

      >You put words in Jesus,'s mouth that he never said he wouldn't be king while on earth. This is talking about before his death, and all you did was quote verses before his resurrection, nothing after. Read Col, 2:15, Phil 2:5-10, Heb 2:5-9, Rev 1:5. When he rose, God bestowed the honor and he fulfilled his role as King. I mean this with all the love I have, you really need to read the Bible on your own without the Watch Tower telling you what it says. It's Holy Spirit's job to let scripture speak to us.
