Somebody built a physical model of Mario's castle straight from the game, just to show it for less than a second of screen time. And it doesn't look too bad, either.
I think what's striking to me about this commercial is how well-animated it is; American Nintendo game commercials back in the 80's and 90's were very hit and miss, and if they were animated, they usually weren't drawn the way a Japanese artist would have done so. This one actually comes pretty close, just in terms of Wario's design and expressiveness, the animation itself is fluid, and overall it looks pretty faithful to the game's intended art direction.
This is actually better than anything i've seen related to nintendo in terms of animation, I just can't stop watching it. I wonder what animation studio made this and what other stuff they have made
I like it. They really went ham with making Wario as gross and villainous as possible for his first ever debut! Makes him all the more memorable too. You wouldn't want a guy like that succeeding, right? Makes you wanna buy the game and defeat him.

I kind of wish they kept this aspect of Wario in his games. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of Wario as a slobbish, rude, greedy self-parody of Mario, but let's not forget that Wario is essentially a monstrous, warped clone of Mario that is also a highly skilled sorcerer according to this ad. Of course, I still want Wario to keep his image as a greedy, selfish bastard whose series is a continuing source of toilet humor, but keeping that little bit of menace goes a long way towards building character. Wario is a nose-picking, fat, greedy dirtbag who's only in this whole "world-saving" buisiness for the money...but he's still extremely powerful and can kick your ass in pretty much any way he wants.
That animation is just beautifully smooth. Also, damn. Wario went in a different direction as a character in the Wario Land series. I kind of don't mind. I love him in the Wario Land games. He's still badass.
