I know everyone's giddy about the twist, but the birds deciding to use their final moments scandalising a party had me rolling.
yeah :D :D :D
One of the funniest images
The BEST lesbian couple in fiction I have seen this far!
relationship goals
Jesus Christ that reveal is hilarious. What an incredible build up
I'm losing it right now 🤣🤣
I'm friggin wheezing! 🤣
I can’t stop laughing! This series is pure gold
The music just makes it so funny - the massively long build up over several months, only for this suddenly triumphant music but also goofy and antagonistic music to start playing is simply brilliant
Having only recently binged Vulo Lives, I am CACKLING
This must be what Relno the Storykeeper has been trying to warn us of
Which ep was relno in?
@@Skull19O1 He’s from Vulo Lives. He tells stories about various war crimes committed by The CIA *Lightning-crack*
My god your right
Why didn't we listen to Relno?
Had the same thought when that happened and laughed out loud. Wife heard me and asked what I was so funny and I realized I would have to explain like a dozen things to have any chance of making sense of it.
Suddenly the reveal is that this has all been another SPOoooOooOoOOKY story to chill your bones from our resident Storykeeper, Relno!
I really thought that it was going to be OUYA (whose body can be seen floating in the Charlie Finale Part 1), but this tie in is even better!
"I just wish there was something I could do about it, something I could struggle against, even uselessly."
That's exactly how I feel about what's happening in the real world. This is the kind of art that could only be made by someone who feels the exact flavor of despair that I feel. If you're reading this, Jason Steele, I'm sorry-- and I'm glad you're making this art for all of us. Thanks.
Well, there's a lot we know about the real world, and a lot of mildly useful things we can do. Too many to choose from, even, and enough to potentially fill up every hour of every day. So we just have to choose the type and amount of things to do we're comfortable with.
Be like Ava 🖤

@@TheGreenScout Damn right
I'm sure this theory has been said before, but I'm pretty sure the "ghosts" aren't actually ghosts. They're digital engrams/copies of some sort. Darius found out, and that's why he's so depressed. He realized that he's not actually Darius, and the afterlife may not even exist, and that even if it does, it doesn't for that version of him.
That's why Nill says that his sins are "someone else's problem" and why when Darius said he shouldn't have snooped, he followed it with "I guess I didn't."
That's likely also why the ghosts don't remember their last 5-10 minutes of life. Whatever copies/saves mental projections of them only does so every so often.
That's likely also why when leaf mentally broke, two copies of himself showed up, because his mind was literally split by the confusion of who he is, that his mind became recorded as two separate entities. They likely showed up despite him being alive either due to the shadow stone failing, or because he mentally broke, and that was close enough to being "dead" for the program to count it as such.
I think Leaf and Broom are a bit more revealing than that, actually. We know that initially the visitors didn’t intend to give animals speech or humanlike intelligence and that they were granted it as a desperate attempt to make the humans more empathetic.
I think that the bears demonstrate a sort of glitch or questionable feature in the system that gives animals a “higher-order” personality, with their identity, skills, and personality suddenly changing according to whatever object they happen to be holding.
When leaf picks up two leaves at once the stone tries to put two minds in his head, and the conflict doesn’t quite kill him, but the stone gives up on trying to elevate him and counts him as “dead”, spawning two copies of the personality that was just occupying the body. The two Leaf ghosts cannot even recognize their own body because, as was demonstrated with Broom, bears’ ability to identify each other is also augmented by object possession.
Holy shit you were right
In episode 3 Nil refers to himself as a fallen false god. And then in this episode talks about a false god meeting a real devil before the big reveal. So good
*themself, I think, and yeah.. Chills
@@coalgizmodude7803 I don't think Nil ever genders himselfn but feel free to watch the videos and tell me if I'm willing. She's also technically a recording of a entities memory and a fictional cartoon character so I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter.
the single most filmcow twist of all time. i can't express how perfect this is
At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if Kissinger was behind all of this.
You mean the war criminal Kissinger? That one? He might be about to go all Horse-Crazy on us
You mean Nobel Peace Prize winner Henry Kissinger?
@@TonySki He's still a wanted war criminal.
What makes the reveal so incredible is how the show has played itself completely serious the whole way through - sure there’s been jokes or joke characters such as gloves, but the show still takes itself very seriously. So for this “devil” - which has been mentioned since at least episode 5 - to suddenly be revealed as one big build up to a joke (sort of) is just incredible. I cannot get over how ingenious this is
I heard someone say they suspected that the Evil Gaia was a computer virus trying to take over. Seeing that C.I.A kinda confirms it for me.
The CIA leading the effort to hack peaceful invading aliens is such a reasonable expectation, I can see why it's only sort of a joke. But still it blows me away.
It's a joke, but also... its right. This is accurate for the CIA. Its delivered as a punchline, sure, but considering the CIA's actual history, and how Filmcow has dealt with this shit in Relno The Storykeeper segments on Vulo, I'm pretty confident this is also gonna be played semi-straight.
Here's the thing, though: I don't actually think "CIA" is the devil that Henrietta is trying to catch.
Jason has been cleverly vague up til now on whether or not said entity is the one that's responsible for everything, but Nil's prophecy in this episode convinces me that they're not. I think "CIA" is the pretend-god Nil alludes to, while the devil is a separate entity that's more of an independent agent of random chaos. Ya wanna know who I think the devil Henrietta is trying to get a firm grip on is? ...Punches. The mongoose from way back in the third Shadowstone Park episode. I wouldn't be surprised if the CIA's little spaceship-hacking experiment went awry and destroyed the world because of something Punches did...after all, they WERE a jerk, both in death and in life.
@@z1pperintheback657 Nah. I think its pretty clear at this point the aliens are the Pretend God, trying to enforce their idea of good, and their level of trust, on others, without consideration for how it could be manipulated by hostile forces who have been brainwashed by capitalism. An egalitarian society that values life so heavily that every loss on a crew is impacted on the captain's name interacted with a society so misanthropic that there are more empty homes than homeless, all in the name of the capitalist blood cult, and the aliens gave us tools they assumed would free us, not understanding that those in power don't WANT anyone freed from this system. The aliens assumed cruelty was a necessity, when really it was a choice. And they gave our overlords the power to engage in it on a much higher level.
This went from a paranormal mistery, to a sci-fi horror story and is now spiraling into a story about a government conspiracy. I dont know how this can get any weirder but I'm sure you'll find a way
Probably something to do with an extra dimensional company level of strange, a la charlie the unicorn.
well... it got more interesting, that's for sure
I can't fucking believe this is the punchline of the whole show
I don’t get it, what’s the punchline?
I don't think this is the end and it will probably tie in with vulo lives
Exactly, what is the punchline?
If you watch the “vulo lives” series, one portion of the fake news show is something like “spooky stories from relno the storykeeper” in which every story seems to be a factual retelling of horrific acts committed by the cia.
So the joke is pretty much that we were all wondering wtf the evil Gaia might be, but it turns out that the evil gaia…
Was the CIA.
@@CM-um8ef So to understand the punchline of this show I had to watch another show first? Ehhh... ok.
That was maybe the most perfect reveal imaginable. Relno tried to warn us…
Damn it, Jason. That was one of the most hilarious twists I've ever seen, but damn it. 🤣
My god, there's even an accompanying thunder clap when Ava says CIA. 🌩🤣 Everyone was expecting a Llamas with Hats crossover, but I don't think _anyone_ could have expected a shared universe with Vulo.
Crossover with... Vulo? Oh goodness. My friend, I have very bad news about Relno's spooky stories.
They're all true. Every detail.
@@rustywidget4813 they're spooky stories because spooks are a synonym for CIA agents.
@@rustywidget4813 No! They couldn’t be! Such spooky tales about the mischievous train Henry Kissinger and his dreaded second track couldn’t POSSIBLY be true?! The CIAs not real, is it?
At least I can sleep at night, they only go after South America, the government would never go after me 😊
What's vulo
Zoot and Vivi deciding to spend their last moments ruining a party by being scandalous would be the greatest thing ever. If not for the best twist ever. Simultaneously so unpredictable and obvious.
This threat was worse than I imagined
The twist ending is so fucking funny
Why? I don't get it. What is the punchline? Paranoia and conspiracy theorists? A comedic subversion of expectations? I'm a little confused.
Im pretty blank faced about it too
If you haven’t watched his Vulo the face borrow interviews you won’t understand it. He ends them all with a scary story which always ends with the CIA being the villain.
@@Thecastaway131 Hmm... I wish I had known that before.
@@Maggbbajust watch vulo lives from the vulo playlist. There's like, 15 episodes now
we all dread the day this series inevitably has to end
That's the calamity

Don't worry, there'll be a second season after this one!
That's the nature of life.
@@MrAlice613 Has this been confirmed?
zoot and her wife deciding to crash a party in their final moments is amazing
Man, Jason Steele really likes to turn his lighthearted adventures of plucky protagonists and their sidekicks into multidimensional apocalyptic horror tales, doesn’t he?
I have never been so confused and intrigued, so humoured yet so anxious...
I can't wait for the finale so we can see what this means.
I sense this might actually be it
@@Sleepdriver1984Did Jason say anything? I feel like usually Jason tells us when an episode is a series finale. He did with Charlie and Llamas.
@@cassidy9703 Well, I noticed too much Twin Peaks 3 vibe (in a very good sense!) in the last 2 episodes not to think that he might have been on a similar path all along...but he can always surprise us again, we'll wait and see! :) Though even if it was the actual ending, I would be completely satisfied by its built-up's orchestration and coreography :D
Somehow it didn't occur to me Ava knows so much about the ships because one of Nils collegues (the "number ghosts") told her.
After rewatching the series, I think I got a theoretical timeline and a couple theories to compliment it:
So, we know that Nil and their crew were extraterrestrials trying to spread peace to earth. However, they hit a snag when all the wildlife was taking well to the new adaptation, but humans weren't. From the sounds of it, it wasn't necessarily that it didn't work, but it has more to do with humanity's gluttony and greed. Episode 8, the memory mentions "It's hard for all of us. To see the killing continue. To see the eating of flesh when water itself would do". This could be referring to the idea that humans were still slaughtering livestock just because we enjoy the taste.
In an effort to curb this, the aliens decided to "put everyone on equal footing" to allow the "fauna to advocate for itself". Implying they gave the animals of the world sapience.
A very out-there theory (and probably wrong): They may have also changed the humans to animals as well, though it was not intended to be permanent. In the first episode where Nil is introduced, they start going on about how "everyone's shape is wrong" and how they want to change it. We know by now that, while strange and offputting at first, Nil does actually try to help people. Perhaps there is something else that hasn't been revealed yet, but it could also be that their shapes are wrong because they should be human.
Regardless of if that theory is correct, clearly humans did not like this new development. In particular, the CIA developed a way to take over the alien ships using a virus meant to "replace" the AI of the ship with one the CIA developed. The aliens quickly realized how much havoc this was going to cause, but didn't have time to stop it. So, they sacrifice themselves, if only to buy more time.
Second theory, that I'm definitely not the first to think of: They do have at least one hope in that the ship preserves and convert their personalities and memories into "ghosts". This seems to be an automatic process and one that extends outside of the ship, probably in case any of the crew dies while outside of it. Even with their sacrifice, those that choose to stick around can try to guide anyone who has access to the system, in hopes of stopping all the madness. And if one of these "ghosts" is no longer okay with existing like this or being preserved in this way, they can "move on" by essentially deleting themselves.
If this is true, the reason Darius is going through a crisis is probably that Nil told him what he really was. Darius had to come to terms with the idea that the "real" Darius is dead and that he's just a collection of memories, doomed to never be seen by anyone who hasn't been granted access to the system. This would also explain why there is a digital effect when Gloves tries to manifest a new glove.
As for the AI/Virus, we can only really speculate. My current theory is that, whatever it is, it was meant to reverse things in hopes of putting things back to normal. Instead, it very literally reversed things. With the alien AI, its objectives were to passively spread peace, grant sapience to all living creatures, and do away with any need for violence. When the CIA's program takes over it switches to the polar opposite, actively spreading chaos, taking away every animal's sapience, and compelling them to commit violence.

Sorry, this got so long. But yeah, either way, loving the series. Looking forward to seeing just how wrong I really am lol
No yeah that's my takeaway too! Can you understand me? Good summary!
This comment need to gain a lot of attention. Good theory
Man, I needed your comment (and needed to dig really deep for it )
You just inspired a realization for me: in the desperate bid to prolong the struggle against the virus, Nil and his kind likely made the decision to discharge the stone very quickly. Possibly, probably, in less than ten minutes. It’s possible that Nil does not even remember making the decision, which adds to the depth of his sorrow and regret. He can access the recording of the decision being made, but can’t remember the thoughts swimming in his head when he pushed the button, sacrificing his people.
May be a stretch but I found it fun that the way CIA was pronounced sounds exactly like the name Kaya. Which means "Stone" in Turkish.
Did not expect that twist
I mean knowing Jason's history and meta commentary I shouldn't be this surprised
I died at that ending. This is my ghost typing this message. It all comes full circle.
Your shape is wrong. Everyone's shape is wrong
@@CrayonMechant Oh my gosh that phrase finally makes sense now!
I have just realized that there is a non-zero chance that Kelli the Kellipillar is a Shadowstone Park character 🤣🤣🤣
I cannot believe the amount of planning and layering involved in this series. Incredible storytelling.
The way my jaw DROPPED
SAME
I literally laughed out loud at the reveal. I never do that. Masterfully done.
I loved this series already but oh my god that reveal is perfect. Mr. Steele is a genius.
this is the reason I open CZcams nowadays. the small chance that a new episode of Shadowstone Park has a released makes it all worth it.
Nice to see all the supporting characters returning and responding!
My god, I can't wait to show this to every person I know, so they can't get just as swept up in this as I am.
Also, all twists aside, I truly love this kind of almost friendship going on with Nil and Darius.
I feel that out of all the characters, those two have been super prominent outsiders, that no one really understood. I suppose that them being bonded by the knowledge of something terrible is essentially trauma bonding, but I'm going to let that slide and still consider their relationship wholesome. When there's nothing else to do, being able to find someone that can keep you company and float around in the misery of reality with you is enough.
I think the implication is that Darius reactivated the ship inadvertently setting in motion the rest of the series and leading to it eventually being taken over. This is implied to be what Nil "told him".
@@Unirule I thought that Darius and his skull thing is what kept the park protected for so long?
@@cassidy9703 Delaying what then became inevitable.
@@Unirule Oh. I took that as in it was always going to happen regardless of Darius and his skulls. He just unknowingly gave them extra time. Tbh that whole part confused me, because if skull production was at max power, you would think that I would wear out the stone and make it easier for the CIA to overtake it, but then Ava said it was what kept the stone going for that long like that was a good thing. So I just went with that.
Oh my god. I literally started laughing out loud at the end. Brilliant. Simply brilliant. 👏 👏 👏
Everybody’s saying the twist is funny, and it is, but if it means what I think it means then it’s also tragic and terrifying
What do you think it means?
@@RobertDeVriesII pretty much what it turned out to be, actually 😅 I don’t want to spoil it for anybody watching the whole thing
So, it was Henry Kissinger's fault this whole time. Of course.
I wish more people watched this show. It's so good and deserves so much more attention
I heard that last line and I literally yelled aloud "You son of a b*tch!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Absolute genius!
That is the best long running con i ever witnessed
I was half expecting Henry Kissenger to show up at the end.
CIA reveal was something I wouldn't have expected but makes sense since it been a recurring element on this channel for a while now.
I just got that Nil’s name is from the fact that all of his crew is dead, and his name decreases each time a crew member dies.
I’ve been thinking about the end twist and I have thought of what I think is a pretty likely explanation as to what happened.
The Nil species came from space down to earth with the intention of ending all violence using the Shadowstone and other similar alien objects. The CIA didn’t like this and thus did something to stop this, in the process ending the world, killing Nil and their crew, and causing the remaining life to slowly start turning violent. I still have no idea why the turned won’t return to the park unless they can fly high enough though.
I nearly screamed when I saw that twist. Truly history's greatest villains!!!
The Vulo lives callback was incredible lol
You know it's good when it ends and I can't believe how quick the episode went by!
Can't wait for the final episode where we learn that 'can u understand me' is meant to spell CUUM
Outstanding. I'm so happy that this series continued after a long hiatus. I think this is the best series that Jason Steele has done so far.
I literally burst out laughing at the reveal, you have no idea. I haven't been so amused in years, that really got me.
Besides being an excellent joke, this kinda adds to a theory I've been working with. Basically, the humans rejected the aliens offer for freedom from sustainance because they like to eat food. The parks are alien spaceships that are slowly being taken over by the CIA to control their resources and the parks are what give animals their sentience. As the park gets corrupted by the CIA, the sentience slowly corrupts until they become mindless monsters, potentially even hunting down and killing humans, reinforcing the idea "We need to take the alien spaceships over" on humanities side.
Just a theory, shakey at best but that's where my head went
Glad to know the "the ghosts are just AI projections" theory turned out to be right.
This feels like a years long build up and I love it.
One day Relno the Storykeeper might have a spooky chilling story to tell about this
Relno
I cant wait for the next episode
This is fantastic
I just rewatched this whole series last night because I wanted to refresh again for whenever the new episode came out so the timing is wild
The build up to this joke was long but immensely worth it
I burst out into uncontrollable laughter, god fucking damn you Jason, well played
The spooky stories warned us!
I feel like the fanbase needs to start spreading the word on this series. Criminally underated for how good this is and how big a name Jason Steele has.
After hearing all the Relno bits I was genuinely compelled to look into all the shady shit the CIA has done. And now having done that, it makes this reveal 100% better.
Best twist ending I've seen in a very long time.
Oh dangit, Jason. You have been setting up this joke for like a year now, and it hit so good. XD
The intensity in this show.. loving it
Thank you, Pancake, for making this possible
That is the greatest twist of all mankind 😂 I love this show so much!
I picked a good time to rediscover this series, didn’t I?
Another great episode, I laughed, I cried, I died, I came back to life, then I laughed some more. Only Film Cow could do that to me.
That ending...never have I been so disappointed yet satisfied, never has suspense been so heightened only to be dashed and immediately replaced by a massive spike in humor...this is both the best and worst thing I have ever seen in my life and I am tempted to create thousands of alternate accounts just to give it as many likes and dislikes as I can. This is a masterpiece...a terrible, horrible masterpiece.
I'm sure people who don't watch any of the Vulo stuff thinks the reveal is funny too, but having done so, it's so, so much funnier. Rationally I was groaning, yet my mouth was fixed into a grin so wide it was mildly painful.
The CIA reveal music was the same as the war criminal reveal in the streams of Vulo!
My heart is warmed by that.
I couldn't help laughing out loud. What a way to deliver a joke.
What a plot twist, and very FilmCow like. The music had me dying with laugher lmao
I never knew I wanted something so bad till I saw it.
It's always like: Yeah, I have theories on what is going to happen. And then BAM: CIA. I'm speechless.
The ending had me laughing out loud. All the build-up in Vulo Lives was not in wain.
Maybe in this episode Nil will finnaly be able to fix everyone's shape. Everyone's shape is wrong; Lark.
Profane shape filth, all of you.
that was the best reveal ever! omg that was so good! bravo that put a huge smile on my face

Baggie is absolutely precious and I love her, please give her a spin-off series. Actually most of the animals in this show could be main characters of their own stories, praise be Filmcow.
I would 100% love a spin off series where Baggie and the Spooky looking Bat from the Charlie finale join together to form a post-apocalyptic detective agency and solve the crimes that happened pre-apocalypse in a fruitless attempt to make sense of an incomprehensible mass extinction.
