    Assuming I am designing a reinforced concrete buildings with 2 or more units attached together. Say I have a continuous supporting floor slab. Are all the supports design as fixed supports? How about a timber building, what type of support will a continuous beam used?

      The video is mainly concerned with defining the types of supports and how they are handled in elementary structural analysis. What you are asking about is a modeling question.
      A continuous slab or beam is supported on columns. Typically, the connection between the beam and the column is neither rigid (fixed) nor hinged, but is something in between. Depending on the properties of the beam and the supporting column, the structural engineer has to decide which option to choose. For example if a concrete beam is supported on a bulky column, then I will go for a fixed connection.
      In advanced structural analysis programs you can choose a connection to be semi-rigid.
