When we purchased our 10-acre property last July, our focus was on renovating the inside of our rancher from top to bottom. Because of this, our land (which had been neglected and underutilized for years) took a hard backseat. For months.
Now that the weather is warming, however, it's time to take back our land and transform it into a homestead that provides for our family. We're talking garden beds, compost piles, fruit trees, bird boxes, and wildflower fields!

Wow! You guys have been busy!! So many yummy homegrown goodies to come!
Awe, don’t you just love working and digging in the dirt, I’ve always loved digging in my flower beds & garden. Unfortunately now a days I don’t do this as much as I use to. Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromyalgia makes it so hard but I still plant flowers in my flower pots and I have perennials that come back each year. Excited to see what you guys do with your beautiful land🤗
It's such therapy for the soul! I'm sorry to hear that you aren't able to garden like you'd like to, but love your attitude and willingness to do what you CAN! ❤️
@@follow.the.whisper Yes it is therapy for the soul and so good for the kiddos too. When our son & daughter were really young we would have a small section of the garden that was just for them to plant whatever they wanted, usually watermelon & some flowers, they had their own kiddie garden tools to take care of that area while dad & I worked the rest. As they got older they helped with all the garden & the flower beds. It was a good family bonding time. lol, now as teenagers they were not too thrilled at all for any of this😆
Such a great idea! We've thought about doing this, too. Sounds like we better hop on it before they get much older 😉

OMG you guys!! I don't even have words anymore to express how inspiring you ALL are. I get so tired just watching your videos. Not tired of watching them, LOL! You have accomplished so much, it's just unbelievable. So proud of you. I look so forward to watching your videos to see what's next. I do hope you take some time for rest. Soon it will be swim time!!! You mentioned your bathroom. Did you get to completely finish one of them? I can't remember. ❤
I let Jonathan have occasional rest days 😉. Pool is open, and we've really been enjoying it! You'll see some of that in coming weeks. Our hallway bathroom, which is the kids', has been finished for a long time...still plugging away on ours when weather is yucky. There's a working toilet in there, but not much else. We also want to convert the laundry room into a half bath for wet kiddos in the pool to use.
Take advantage of your county extension office for advice on a variety of things. They might even have canning classes or community canning events.
