This is a powerful film to watch - about a baby girl growing up in a white trash environment saved by an African american couple . It deals with prejudice. It shows how good people can triumph with the grace of God to save a baby, give a growing child hope and pave a path for a brighter future. I dont know if in the current climate in Canada this could be shown in Canadian schools - maybe for Black history month in a grade 11 leadership class. I cried. I know good people from very different walks of life who have made great sacrifices to save children. Whoever is watching this movie, think of the good you do. When all do what we can, children have a chance to thrive. Every child matters. Yvonne Germaine Dufault

That someone can start out with nothing and become something. We who worked behind the scenes on this film could have never suspected that over 20 years later it would still be remembered let alone celebrated by viewers such as yourself here on YT and other streaming platforms. I shall share with you that filming this picture was a delight....on more than one occasion we completed our day's work before lunch could be set up...that is how well cast and crew worked together. And who could ask for a better cast than this one. Della Reese (always Mrs. Lett to me) was terrific...every day smiles and good morning shouted with that beautiful voice of hers to us all as we gathered for the first rehearsal. I have such wonderful memories of that time and now wonderful memories reading beautiful comments such as your own. I thank you deeply...you have made my day.

This is the kind of movies you will never forget. I saw it more than ten years ago and I'm here looking for it to watch it again.
It broke my heart to see her grandmother betray her, and see that she basically was like the others. Like her husband in a sense. Initially it just seem like she went along with him and the abuse out of fear. But then you see she was just as abusive as he was in the end.

what an excellent movie. my grandmothers lived in small towns. people loved and served and loved our lord jesus. this movie brought me back to those days. i still have that love for jesus that was taught to me. that movie made me cry, and filled me with joy. thank you.

I feel this movie was REALLY good, and conveyed a good and deep message. Many movies don't include GOD in them like they should. I read the description, and said to myself. I will probably watch it later. But I clicked on the movie without intent to watch it right then and there. I took that as confirmation from the LORD, that HE wanted me to watch it right then and there. And I'm SO glad that HE did. I don't recall hearing about this movie prior to this evening. 💜❤️💛

I never get tired of this movie. I can't remember how many times I've watched this. The Zima sisters are amazing, especially Yvonne. The acting, the plot is great!

One of the best movies I have ever seen. One and a half hours of crying and going on. Very thought provoking! This is showing the truth, that what is often officially believed does not automatically depicture the truth. The truth is to be found in each individual story and in the story of humanity and humankind again and again. Good can be bad and bad can be good. Seeing and touching each other, allowing to be touched through the heart without putting your own story or the story of your peers on top of your filter of reality. True humanity!

I met a girl, and we worked together, we became very good friends, people mistreated her, they thought she was less than, maybe not as smart as them, or she was mentally challenged, but she wasn't, anyway I took her under my wing and taught her the ropes of life and people no matter black or white, black people told her you better watch your money as if i was going to fool her out of it somehow, I loved her, and I kept all the harm and meanest from her, you see she was white and I'm black, we were best friends for friends and companions for 18 years, she passed Feb. 17, 2022, and I'm still grieving her, but I'm better, this movie really hit home, I love you Nina Lynn always, Debbie.

Yes I was just thinking yesterday which was Wednesday how much I love these kind of films. I cried too for I love the person portrayed by Honey and husband. What it has done too has brought love up in people here and this is the world of good and simpler life we all need to get back to. I shall visualise this so much.
My late husband grew up in Georgia, son of a moonshiner, an abusive man. I know the only reason he grew up to be a beautiful kind funny strong real man is that he had the love of his granny, who sounded much like Honey. I miss him and this movie made me cry.

Thanks to Honey( Della Reese) she was there from the day Joanne was born 😢😢😢 the sadness through that child's growing up stages was painful, it brought tears to my eyes 😭😭 😭, the dreadful mistakes done by some parents is distasteful but thanks to the teachings she got home she made for herself and what you teach to a child that's what s/he'll do when they become adults.❤❤❤❤ lovely but very tearsome 😢😢😢 movie. This movie was so well acted, especially by Della Reese, Ossie Davis and Madeline Zima.
I put this movie on my "Great Movies" playlist. I'm sure I'll watch this again soon.

It was a one of the greatest professional experiences for me. Shot back in the summer of 1998 and originally aired on CBS TV Easter Sunday 1999, it followed Ms. Reese's series "Touched by an Angel". They came in #1 and #2 for the week according to the ratings. After that none of us ever much thought this film would air again...until all these years later...CZcams and streaming services have it on offer and it is being discovered by new generations.
The cast lead by Ms. Reese and Mr. Davis were wonderful..full of Good Mornings to everybody and blessings at the end of the day. Several days we completed our work before lunch could even be served...believe me when I say that NEVER occurs. I look back in reflection with such gratitude for the gift of this movie on my resume...those wonderful days of filming a special and true story and for viewers like you with kind words shared here. Blessings to you. :)

I was blessed to be the Location Manager on this movie and reading your kind hearted comments about a project on which I played a small part is so very rewarding after all these years. This entire movie was a joy on which to work and I look back so fondly to the summer of 1998 when we shot it. The movie aired Easter Weekend 1999 to huge ratings following Touched By an Angel - Della Reese's top rated series at the time. None of us could have ever guessed that more than 2 decades later new audiences would find this film to view. I watched this movie the first time when I was 8 and I’m now almost 32. One movie I cherish the most watching with my Memaw whom passed away this past January to COVID and other complications. It’s a true classic and a bittersweet memory to share with a incredible woman whom I will and forever look up to!❤️

I have so many of my favorite memories attached to this movie. Honey reminds me of my grandmother, her love was soft but tough at the same time. Della Reese reminds me of my childhood in the neighborhood I grew up in. Back when we used to watch Touched By Angel.

Short story of one of my dearest memories ❤
Ms. Reese has always reminded me of my sweet other Grandmama Ms. Brown.
My Grandfather had a fruit and vegetable store in the Bronx in the late 1930's.
The last time I saw Ms Brown was in the early 1950's.
She was always there on Brook Ave sitting in her chair, my Grandpa had for her. She was elderly then, always had her cane and I remember always sitting by her, loving her, hugging her and feeling safe.
My grandfather had a heart attack on the sidewalk in front of his store. I watched him turn blue as I peered thru the legs of the people surrounding him.
I was only six and remember it as if it happened today. 😢
My mom used to tell me Ms. Brown was so well loved.
I wish to this day I knew Ms. Brown's family. It's been 70 years and I still hold her in my heart. Hope God allows me to see her one more time if I make it to the Pearly Gates of Heaven.

Love this movie shows how it was back in day years ago in some places . How a neighbor become a a childs family with care and love and how there difference types of life's change each other for ever!

@real11 thank you for this comment. I was the Location manager on this film and it is so rare to read kind words such as your own. This movie was such a gift....filmed over 25 years ago now...but I recall every day on set just like it was yesterday.
The cast lead by Ms. Reese and Mr. Davis could not have been more kind hearted or professional. The crew worked beautifully. Some days we completed our day's work before lunch could even be served as our Director Bruce was simply the best. Believe me when I say...that NEVER occurs.
As I type this comment, my computer sits on the dining table from the "Foley" house. I purchased it at the props and set sale.
Every day for the last 2.5 decades I think lovingly back to that summer of '98 when we filmed "The Secret Path" as it was titled and aired on CBS TV. Fun fact...this film was #2 in the ratings...following as it did "Touched by an Angel" Easter Sunday '99.
I could go on... I thank you for allowing me to do so...and for reliving a period in my career when movies were made for network TV and enjoyed by a huge audience who had a passion for them. Best wishes.
Best movie I've ever seen. What a horrible way for a child to be treated. My daughter has always known from the day she was born that she's loved. Am sorry this world is so bad for the innocent children that are abused. I came from parents who showed no love...no physical abuse but no love... I definitely told and showered my daughter how much and she's 31 now and I still call her everyday and tell her I love her and to wish her a good night. When she first moved out on her own she after a few months she said I didn't have to call her everyday..that she was okay...but I told her if I didn't call her I couldn't and wouldn't be able to sleep... it was the one and only time I had to say it... she understood it and that's how it's been and always will be
